HOW I SURPRISED MY HUSBAND FOR HIS 30TH BIRTHDAY!

August 8, 2016 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I hope that all of you had a wonderful weekend! I had one of those days yesterday where I didn’t realize it was Sunday until about 8p.m which is always a letdown ; ) But it was an incredible weekend! I haven’t done a lifestyle photo post in awhile, but I think that this event deserves one!  My husband, Stephan, turns 30 on the 12th and he thought that him and I were celebrating on Saturday with a nice dinner out while my parents watched our little loves…all of this was true, but he didn’t know that 16 of our nearest and dearest were waiting at the restaurant to surprise him! He was SO shocked! His reaction was caught on film (thank you Nicole and Kayla!) and it is priceless! It would not have been possible without the input from our friends who thought of things I wouldn’t have, and helped me keep the surprise for months and months! And thank you to my mom, who helped me with all of the details and had it all set up perfectly. Stephan told me that it was the nicest thing that has ever happened to him. Thank you to everyone who took time out of your busy lives to be there for us and to celebrate this milestone birthday with my guy! I originally had guessed we would have about half of the people I invited show up, but actually nearly everyone did and it was awesome! We are very lucky people to know such incredible humans! I hope that you enjoy these pictures and if you’d like to watch his reaction the video will also be down below : ) If you’ve enjoyed this please don’t forget to subscribe and share! xx

HIGHLIGHTER 101: HOW TO HIGHLIGHT SIMPLY IN A HIGHLIGHT HEAVY MAKEUP WORLD! EASY STEPS!

July 11, 2016 & 2 Comments

Hi there! Happy Monday!

Highlighting, contouring, strobing, baking, and color correcting are all makeup terms that you may hear a lot right now because there is a huge trend of strong contours and BAM highlighting. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love to contour and highlight, but I feel like it can be very intimidating to see a YouTube video with 10 steps or a Pinterest picture with tiger stripes all over a face diagram. So, today I want to share the exact products you can use and what you can do to get a subtle, beautiful highlight for summer. If you’d like something similar for color correcting, baking, or contouring please let me know in the comments : )

HIGHLIGHTER 101:

What You’ll Need:

highlighter101-leahtackles-highlightingmakeupmadeeasy.jpeg IMG_6062

First you will need a highlighter of your choice, I prefer powder highlight most days and suggest that for when you’re first starting out. I love Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Powder Highlighters like Champagne Pop, but you can also get a beautifully look much cheaper using Reserve Your Cabana from Wet n’ Wild.

You will also need a brush to apply your highlighter! I like to use a tapered highligher brush like the Sigma F35 but any dome or tear dropped shaped similar brush will work just fine. You can also use a fan brush for highlighting, and these often come in brush kits so you may have a few laying around.

What To Do:

After you have applied your blush and bronzer (if you choose to wear them) and set any foundation or concealer that you are wearing you want to put your brush into your powder highlighter and tap off the excess. Then from your cheek bone (usually about an inch below the outer part of your eye) up to the outer edge of your eyebrow you want to *lightly* apply the highlighter in a crescent moon shape. Be sure to blend this in with the brush so that it isn’t a harsh line of product. Ta-da! You are beautifully sun kissed! If you want to get extra fancy, you can apply a bit to the cupids bow above your top lip, or down the center of your nose.

I hope that you enjoyed this post! If you would like a more detailed post on highlighting let me know! I hope that you’ve found this helpful! You can “Pin” this onto your Pinterest (just hover over any picture or use the share buttons on the bottom if this post!) or share if on social media! Have a wonderful start to you week! xx

MY OILY SKIN SECRET! FIRST AID BEAUTY SKIN RESCUE OIL-FREE MATTIFYING GEL | SKINCARE REVIEW

June 6, 2016 & 2 Comments

Hi there! Happy Monday!

It’s June and the weather is warming up, and for me that means that my combo skills gets oily, especially my t-zone, fast! I recently ordered a few things from Sephora and wanted to share my thoughts on a mattifying gel I’ve been using.

First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Oil-Free Mattifying Gel

firstaidbeautymattifyinggel-leahtackles.jpeg

firstaidbeauty-review-leahtackles.jpeg

This gel claims to hydrate the skin, while regulating oil production, and minimizing the appearance of pores. I cleanse my face, use a toner, and then apply this to my face both morning and night. I like to focus it on my nose and the skin beside my nose where my pores are the largest (which makes sense because larger pores = more oil). I definitely think this has made a significant difference on my skin because I don’t have to blot my nose as early in the day as I did before using this. I also do notice that it helps blur out my pores which makes my makeup apply very nicely. You could use this as a makeup primer, but I do still like to use a bit of my Benefit Porefessional Primer as well before applying my makeup.

What are some of your favorite skincare items for the warmer months? I would love to hear about them! I hope you have a wonderful day! I try to write each blog post as if I was sending a message to a friend one-on-one about some of my favorite things, and I hope that you can feel that coming through! Thank YOU for reading! xx

CONGRATULATIONS CONNOR!! | FEEDING PROGRAM GRADUATION

April 4, 2016 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I hope that you had a fantastic weekend! Thank you for taking time out of your crazy Monday to read my little blog : )

On March 25th our middle son, Connor, graduated from his Intensive Feeding Program. Connor has major eating delays, and this program helped him tremendously. It was very hard. Connor, his little brother Logan, and I stayed 200 miles away from home every week and Connor and I attended clinic from 8a.m-4p.m Monday-Friday. It was emotional. It was exhausting. And it was worth it. If you’re interested in seeing what exactly he eats I discuss it in this daily vlog video, but today I just want to share a couple of pictures of Connor’s big graduation celebration! Miss Kaitlyn, if you’re reading this Connor misses you and this is your moment ; )

Connor,

We are so proud of you! You are a totally different kid than when you started the clinic in the beginning of February! We have a long journey ahead, but we are so thrilled with your hard work and progress! You did such a fantastic job and adapted fabulously! You are a champ! Always!

We love you so!

Mommy (and Daddy, Hailey, and Lo Lo!)

Note: Food pictured was for the parents and staff ; ) The kiddos at the feeding clinic can’t eat these donuts!

Be Me Nail Art Pens Review!

March 30, 2016 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

I recently did a review on 2B Colours cosmetics and shared a tease about a nail art pen review coming soon and today is the day I share them with you! I was sent these Be Me Nail 2-in-1 Brush and Art Pens for review, and I was pretty apprehensive because I am not into nail art. <–Blunt right? I think it is adorable, but besides doing an accent nail every once in a great while, I usually stick to a basic manicure. Why do I not usually do nail art? Basically because it intimidates me since I am creative but NOT an artist at all, and also I feel like I barely have time to paint my nails as is. So, I decided to review these but keep it real with my bad nail art and all. Thank you to Be Me for sending me these for review! As always with my reviews, all opinions are my own honest opinions: ) If you want to keep seeing more reviews and giveaways from me, please like my social media and subscribe here and to my YouTube channels! The more subscribers, “likes”, and followers I have the more companies want to work with me which benefits you as well! And, I get giddy anytime I get a new like! My Instagram is updated daily, as well as most of my social media.

What I was Sent:

bemenailartpens-beautyreview-leahtackles.jpeg

I was sent this Nail Art Pens Festive Collection. I believe this was a holiday collection, but the colors are beautiful so I didn’t mind at all!

First Impressions:

I really like that each color can be used as a nail art pen or as traditional brush and bottle nail polish.

My Nail Art:

bemenailartpensreview-leahtackles-beautyreview.jpeg IMG_1388

Pros:

When used as a pen these have a SUPER fine point and it was pretty easy for me to get very exact lines. I think with a little practice I could really have some fun with these for holidays or special occasions. I love plastic bottle because you can squeeze it while drawing with the pen to get the polish to flow the way you need it to.

Cons:

Each pen comes with a color on each end, and while you can take them apart I realized quickly that I couldn’t get the cap off (without smudging my nails anyways!) unless the colors were connected. I also found that it took quite a while for this to dry, so the design was easy to make but the time spent drying was longer than when I just throw on a few coats of polish.

Overall:

I am excited to use these for holidays! I found myself looking up some YouTube videos and I’m excited thinking about doing things for the 4th of July already and it isn’t even April yet! I think these are very user friendly, and a lot of fun. My daughter, Hailey, is really excited about these, too! She thought my nails looked MUCH COOLER with some nail art ; )

Where To Buy:

I appreciate that these are easy for anyone to grab online! They are available at Walmart.com, Kmart.com, Target.com, and my favorite Amazon.com.

You can follow Be Me Nail on Twitter for much better inspiration and nail art that I created ; ) I also love following the Be Me Nail Art Instagram feed.

If you have any questions let me know! I need to challenge myself to try some cool nail art in the future. If you’d like to see any nail art or tutorials I *might* panic a little, but I would certainly be willing to try for my readers : ) Have a great weekend! Please don’t forget to subscribe! xx

THIS ONE IS FOR YOU, HAILS!

February 24, 2016 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

If you follow our daily vlog channel then you know that unfortunately our family has been living apart during the week due to some medical care that one of our sons is getting at a clinic far from our home. Because of this, I have been away from our biggest little love, Hailey, now more than ever before. I miss her so much and just wanted to say:

Hailey,

I am so incredibly proud of all the amazing things you’ve been doing while I have been away. FaceTiming with you is the BEST! I can’t wait to give you a giant, super, gigantic, tight, biggest hug EVER when I see you in a few days!

I love you so,

Mommy

And now, here is an adorable picture of her modeling her dance recital dress and a picture of her on the 100th day of school : )

WALT DISNEY WORLD WITH YOUNG KIDS | 5 QUICK TIPS |

December 23, 2015 & 2 Comments

Hi there! Happy Wednesday! Or, Merry Christmas Eve Eve ; )

We have been home from Disney World for about 10 days, and my husband and I sat down recently (okay, we tried to talk over the kids while folding laundry, let’s be real) to chat about what worked and what didn’t for us for our three kids under five on our trip. So, today I thought I would share 5 quick tips that might help you if you’re planning to take your young kids to Disney.

WaltDisneyWorld-GrandFloridan-Christmas2015-TripPlanningTips-LeahTackles.jpeg

1. Use a Backpack

Take a backpack! I am a cute purse or diaper bag kind of girl, but at Disney you want to be hands-free! We took a plain black backpack and my husband and I took turns wearing it. It is SO MUCH EASIER. You won’t be sorry!

2. Wear the Baby/Toddler

We took both a front facing carrier that we borrowed from a friend and our Ergo. We wore Logan, our 11 month old, most of the trip. Even if you have a stroller, pack a carrier.

3. Don’t Rent a Disney Stroller but Rent a Stroller

Disney has strollers for rent, but the prices aren’t cheap and you have to return them to the parks each day. We opted to rent from an outside company, Kingdom Strollers, that is a Disney featured stroller provider. We picked the stroller up at our resort and returned it at our resort! Super easy! Plus we could take it out of the parks instead of wasting time in line every day to rent one and return it. All, the kids could ride from our room to the parks! It was only $70 for the week for a steam cleaned, City Mini Double stroller. We were able to fold it easily for the bus (we grabbed our bags before doing so), and leave it open on the monorail and boats (the boats have signs that say to fold it, but they always said we could leave it open). Also, decorate your stroller with ribbon and a sign so it’s easy to spot in the sea of strollers!

4. Take LOTS of Wet Ones

I bought two packages of Disney character antibacterial wipes at the Dollar Tree and we had regular Wet Ones also. I wiped down as much as possible, and they’re great for sticky hands, too.

5.  Take Fruit Snacks and Magic Ink Books

Both of these saved us at restaurants, in line, on the plane…you name it! If your kids are like mine, they’ll fly through the Magic Ink Books, so buy lots! If you check the Target Dollar Section you should be able to find them for $3, but they sell out fast.

I hope that you enjoyed this post! I have several Disney videos coming up on my YouTube Channel, and we have our Disney Daily Vlogs on our Daily Vlog Channel! I hope that you have a very Merry Christmas if you celebrate! And a happy holiday season!
