Tarte Knockout Tingle Treatment Toner | Worth the Hype?

December 9, 2019 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

If you pay attention to beauty-hype, you’ve probably heard about AHA a lot in the past couple of years, but what is it?  AHA stands for alpha hydroxy acids, and they are a class of chemical compounds that are made up of a carboxylic acid substituted with a hydroxyl group on the adjacent carbon… Yeah, that. They may be naturally occurring or synthetic. I had heard amazing things about Knockout by Tarte and decided to try it out in place of my regular evening toner. I waited to do this post for MONTHS so I could give you a full review.

About Tarte Knockout Tingle Treatment Toner

A vegan, skin-tingling toner treatment that acts as a complexion workout in a bottle to help resurface your skin and balance its pH.

Main Ingredients
– Water: Delivers and retains the skin’s natural moisture.
– Salicylic and Lactic Acids: Gently exfoliate, support cell renewal, and clear skin.
– Sulfur, Niacinamide, and Glycerin: Improves the look of fine lines and wrinkles, pores, and redness.

Knockout Tingling Treatment transforms your skin while you sleep with a 10 percent acid complex. It helps minimize the appearance of pores and control oil with salicylic and lactic acids while working to clarify, soothe, and hydrate with sulfur, niacinamide, and glycerin.

My Thoughts

Reading some of the reviews I noticed people mentioned tingling and highlighted the vinegar scent. I had already been using the Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution by The Ordinary without irritation, so I was not nervous to bump up to a slightly more intense version. I usually roll my eyes when people notice a difference “immediately” but this was a product where I felt like my skin looked better the next morning. When using this I am careful to be sure I do don’t slack with my moisturizing, and I am already religious 365 about my S.P.F. After using this my pores, and I’ve got large pores that get clogged, a lot, look so much smaller and so much more clear. My skin is baby soft, and it has made the overall tone and texture of my skin a ton better. I still get the occasional breakout, but as a whole, my skin looks better and I require less foundation/a little foundation because of this product. I will continue to use this product, and because a little goes a long way it lasts a long time and is worth the price. I do wish the bottle was clear so could see how much I had left (the shake method isn’t that accurate for me!). I purchase my Tarte Knockout Toner at Sephora and try to snag a couple during the VIB sales.

ROC DAILY RESURFACING DISKS REVIEW

October 8, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I hope that you had a fantastic weekend and are feeling ready to tackle the new week. As the weather changes, I love to have my first string skincare standbys ready to go because the weather can wreak havoc on my skin, and while it’s usually pretty forgiving of my testing out tons of different things (blogger probs), sometimes I make it angry when I try to do that during a season weather shift. I love sharing new or new-to-me products with you, but today I want to share something that’s been in my arsenal for months now but I’ve yet to shout-out in the form of a post.

About RoC Daily Resurfacing Pads

The pads are self-foaming, dual-textured disks that contain skin conditioners and are clinically shown to improve the appearance of skin in as little as one week, yet they’re gentle enough for everyday use. One side of the disk has a soft pad and the other side is exfoliating.

My Thoughts

I have raved about the RoC Retinol Correxion Eye Cream (read that post here) but when I first got these I wasn’t sure if I’d find a use for them since I already use a PMD (best tool!) for home exfoliating and microdermabrasion, and I have my go-to facial cleansers and makeup removers. However, I now use these pads and really see their benefit. They suds up incredibly well and they stay very saturated forever! I have read a lot of reviews where they say they cut the pads in half, which I haven’t done but it is totally genius! These pads are generous in size, and they last me for a very long time because I do not use them daily. I love that on evenings when I don’t make the time for a long skincare routine I still have a nice way to cleanse my skin and get a nice exfoliation. I do not use these daily, but I use them about two times each week and do feel that my skin looks noticeably less dull (especially in the winter months!) and my complexion looks very even. I use a lot of skincare, so it can be hard for me to give all the credit to any one product, but this is one that I’ve tested a lot and can say that it doesn’t irritate my skin, and it reliably cleanses, exfoliates, and improves the look of my skin.

My Routine

I do not use this as a makeup remover, but I can see how in a pinch it would work to use the soft side of the pad. I remover my makeup and then I add a bit of water to the pad and sub it together to get it to suds up. I then use the soft side of the pad by the delicate eye area and the exfoliation side on my neck, chin, jawline, cheeks, nose, and forehead. I do about one minute of exfoliating so that it can be effective. I then rinse my skin and pat it dry gently before continuing with my nightly skincare routine.

MICRODERMABRASION AT HOME? WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!

February 22, 2017 & 2 Comments

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

I hope that you are having a wonderful week so far! Last week I talked about how shaving your face can have anti-aging benefits and is a regular part of my skincare routine (you can read about that here). Today I thought that I would share another skincare post because it is so essential to take care of your skin and it makes a huge difference in makeup application, too.

What Is a PMD?

A PMD is a microdermabrasion tool that you can use in the comfort of your own home to get the same results that you get in a dermatologists office or a skin spa.

Why I Love It

Microdermabrasion is a great way to safely but effectively remove a layer of skin to reveal younger looking skin by getting rid of dead skin, increasing blood flow, and boosting the bodies production of collagen and elastin. Microdermabrasion can also help fade the look of sun spots or discoloration, acne scars, enlarged pores, and fine lines. I have had microdermabrasion treatment done at a skin spa, but the PMD pays for itself after a couple of uses! The PMD uses a patented spinning disc technology along with calibrated vacuum suction. I love the PMD because it also helps for my skincare products to absorb more into the skin, and we all know that skincare products cost a pretty penny, so to me this is a *huge* plus!

My Routine

I use the PMD weekly, usually on Sunday when I have a bit more time to dedicate to my skincare routine. I start by shaving my face (again, read about that here) and then immediately use the PMD. I hold the skin tight and in upward strokes use the PMD on my neck and face. I avoid the eye area for the most part but do ever so lightly do it near where fine lines and crows feet appear. I also love to use the PMD to exfoliate my lips! Another great spot to use the PMD is your hands because both your neck and hands are telltale areas that show aging. *Note: The PMD comes with a very helpful instructional DVD as well as several different discs for both the face and body. You can see more tips from the PMD website here.

3 Ways To Get Better Skin In A Week!

August 22, 2016 & 2 Comments

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I hope that you had a great weekend! Thank you, as always, for taking time out of your busy day to read my blog! It means a lot to me : ) I can *tend* to be a perfectionist (friends and family may be laughing at this “confession” because to them I’m sure it’s obvious!) and have to watch myself so that I don’t fall into an “all or nothing” mindset, and lately I’ve been doing that with skincare. For example, yes I do have a morning and evening skincare routine, but just because I maybe can’t afford a super fancy eye cream, or can get regular facial treatments, doesn’t mean that I should throw in the towel, so to speak. So, today I want to share three very easy ways to really improve the tone, even-ness, and health of your skin.

1. Drink Water!

I know this is an obvious one, but I drink so much water that I can immediately tell if I haven’t had enough water to drink. I really like using a bottle that is large enough to fit 8 servings of water in it. It also makes my lips much more willing to endure drying liquid lipsticks! Don’t drink anything else until you’ve finished the jug of water! I drink a coffee (or three…) each day, but besides that it is almost exclusively water! I will have the occasional glass of wine, and I’ll have a fountain drink when traveling, but otherwise it is only coffee and water. Plus, water has no calories and I much prefer to eat my calories than drink them ; )

2. Do Face Masks!

I recently did a post called “My Favorite Face Masks & How To Use Them” because this simple change has made my skin tone so much better! My skin truly is much more even now that I’ve been doing face masks a couple of times a week. We Daily Vlog (KwapisFamilyTackles on YouTube) and I’ve always vlogged with a bare face occasionally, but I’ve found myself doing it regularly now that I feel better about my skins appearance.

3. Don’t Touch Your Face!

This is so hard! I didn’t realize how much I did this until I made a real effort not to. Also, if you follow me on Snap Chat you have seen that I tend to touch my face / neck while vlogging or Snapping. But, not touching your face really does help keep your face clean!! Just think of all of the things you touch and all of the oils on your hands…not what you want on your face!

I challenge YOU to do this for one week and report back in the comments section telling me if you noticed any changes in your skin! I hope that you do because I think you’ll love how easy it is to make a big difference : ) Please don’t forget to subscribe! xx
