HAILEY’S YOUNG 5 GRADUATION! 2016

June 1, 2016 & 2 Comments

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

Today our Hailey Doll graduated from her Pre-K/Young 5 program! I can’t believe it! Stephan and I were able to take her out bowling afterwards (thank you to my in-laws for the help!) and had the best time! I can’t believe that my baby is starting Kindergarten in the fall! Excuse me while I go look at baby pictures and become a blubbering mess!

Hailey,

We are so proud of you! You make us proud every single day by being exactly who you are! You are kind to everyone and always do your best! And, you have the best imagination! Never stop being wonderful you!

We love you so,

Mommy (Daddy, Connor, and Logan)

BABIATORS SUNGLASSES REVIEW & GIVEAWAY!

May 25, 2016 & 15 Comments

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

Memorial Day weekend is THIS weekend! How did that happen already? It’s blowing my mind that we are about to kick off the summer season, but I am so happy to get outside with my family! Summer means sunshine (hopefully! Here in Michigan you never really can tell) which means lathering the kids up in sunscreen, but we also can’t forget about protecting their eyes! I will totally admit that while I never skip shades myself because it drives me CRAZY when I forget them, I have skipped sunglasses for the kids in the past because they never seem to keep them on anyways. So, when Babiators reached out to me I was thrilled to try them out! It’s always full disclosure here, and I was provided a pair of sunglasses for consideration and review but all opinions are my own. I will not be paid if you purchase Babiators. Babiators also sent information for this blog post.  Babiators agreed to send a pair of shades to one of my readers! Yay! Keep reading to hear my thoughts and enter to win!

A Little Bit About Babiators:

-Babitators have UV 400 lenses that offer 100% UVA and UVB protection

-Babiators undergo rigerous testing to ensure they’re safe for your child whether on their face OR in their mouth

-Babiators are durable! They are made of a flexible rubber frames, and shatter-resistant lenses

– Babiators are guaranteed, so if you break OR lose them in the first year, Babiators will replace them and all you pay is shipping.

-And my favorite part? The fit is incredible! They’re made of a soft material that is comfortable and lightweight. They don’t pinch the temples or the nose. I wish I had sunglasses made from this stuff! It is seriously awesome!

Babiators Sizing:

Junior Babiator sunglasses for babies 6 months-3 years

Classic Babiator sunglasses for kids 3-7 years

Information About Sun Safety:

-UV damage is cumulative and irreversible

-Kids receive about three times more annual UV exposure than adults each year, yet less than 30% of parents are currently protecting their children’s eyes with sunglasses

-Children’s eyes are more susceptible to sun damage because they have larger pupils and clearer lenses, allowing more UV to penetrate and reach the back of the eyes

When getting sunglasses look for 100% UVA/UVB protection with a high quality frame and comfortable style that kids will actually wear and keep on!

My Thoughts:

I absolutely LOVE these shades! Logan, who is 16 months old, loves these and keeps them on! I love that they don’t squeeze his precious face. These are by far the nicest kids sunglasses we have ever tried. Logan is a pretty tough little guy, so it makes me happy that when he holds onto these I know they can bend instead of snapping in two. Logan also puts everything in his mouth, so I love knowing that they’re safe even when he does that. Logan is an above average little guy, and I think that he will be in the Classic Babiators by the time he is two years old.

LIPSTICK & EYE SHADOW TIPS & PICKS FOR BEGINNERS

May 11, 2016 & 2 Comments

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

This week I have had two friends ask me on my personal Facebook page beauty related questions that I get asked on a fairly regular basis. First of all, I want to say THANK YOU FOR ASKING! There is not much more flattering to me than people asking me questions about makeup because it is a huge passion of mine. And second, today I have decided to share the information that I was gathering for them with all of you incase any of you have similar questions. If you find this post helpful, please share it or “pin” it to your Pinterest!

Housekeeping Note and Helpful Tip!

I have had two other friends recently tell me that they aren’t subscribed to KwapisFamilyTackles on YouTube or LeahTackles on YouTube because they don’t have a YouTube account but you actually DO NOT NEED A YOUTUBE ACCOUNT TO SUBSCRIBE, COMMENT, OR LIKE A VIDEO! Your log-in is actually your Gmail log-in because Google owns YouTube! I hope that is helpful information! I appreciate every person who reads or watches my content, whether or not you’re subscribed, but if you want to get notified whenever I upload something new please subscribe! And I love subscribers ; )  I am doing a HUGE GIVEAWAY at 1,000 subscribers so be sure to subscribe for that too!

What are good lipsticks for someone who has never worn lipstick but would like to try? Something that isn’t “clown like”?

I was a lip gloss girl for years and the only time I had ever worn lipstick was for dance performances, but now I wear lipstick almost every single day. I think that the best way to start would be to try a couple of shades that I consider to be “your lips but better” which means they aren’t very different from your natural lip color. You can also try a tinted lip balm that gives a sheer wash of color. I would suggest grabbing a few lipsticks at the drugstore so that you can figure out what colors you like before you commit to something more expensive. Or, go to Sephora, Ulta, or the makeup counter at a department store and ask for help so that you can wear the lipsticks! Don’t be afraid to ask for help!! You can walk into a department store, try on a lipstick, and then do you shopping so you can wear it for awhile to see how you feel in it.

Lip Products I Suggest Trying:

 IMG_3256 (1)

lipstickforbeginners-leahtackles.jpeg

Here are some of my favorite lip products that I think are great “starter” lipsticks!

*Note: listed left to right

Nars Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien

M.A.C Cremesheen in Creme Cup

M.A.C Lustre in Syrup

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate in 08

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in 130 Rose Velvet

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in 001 Honey (my top pick!)

Covergirl Oh Sugar! in 6 Punch

Covergirl Oh Sugar! in 9 Jelly

What eye shadows should I buy? I have no idea where to begin? What about eye shadow brushes?

I suggest started with a neutral eye shadow palette or even a small trio or quad to start out. There are a lot of fantastic drugstore eye shadow options, which I will link, but also don’t be afraid to go play with the makeup at Sephora, Ulta, or a department store! You can also get a cream eye shadow or eye shadow base like the Maybelline Color Tattoos I will link below. I often apply these with my fingers all over my lid and then just apply mascara and eye liner! They’re easy and beautiful! They also make a fantastic base to put on before applying your other eye shadows. As far as brushes go, you can start simple by grabbing two or three brushes for $1-$3 each from E.l.f cosmetics. The backs of a lot of drugstore palettes like the ones mentioned show a general “map” for how to apply the eye shadows which is a great place to start! The higher end palettes usually come with a small beauty how-to guide that gives tips for easy looks.

eyeshadowpicksforbeginners-leahtackles.jpeg

eyeshadowpicksforbeginners-leahtackles.jpeg

Maybelline The Nudes Palette

Wet n’ Wild Walking On Eggshells Trio

Wet n’ Wild Comfort Zone palette

Too Faced Natural Eyes palette

Urban Decay Naked palette

Maybelline Color Tattoo

(I suggest Bad To The Bronze and Inked In Pink)

E.l.f Shadow Brushes

(Start with a basic flat eye shadow brush, a fluffy brush for your crease and for blending, and a smaller flat brush for smudging color on your lower lash line or putting a bright shimmery color near the tear ducts of your eye to brighten)

I hope that you found this helpful! I am doing a Q&A soon on my LeahTackles channel so be sure to ask your questions for that!! I hope you have a wonderful weekend : ) Thanks for reading!

DEAR MOM of the HEALTHY CHILD | GUEST POST

April 20, 2016 & 2 Comments

Hi there! Happy Wednesday,

Hi! Thank you, as always, for taking time out of your crazy life to read! It means a lot to me : ) If you haven’t yet, please subscribe so that you will be notified via email when I post. Whenever I talk to people about this blog, one of the things I mention is that it is something that is mine. I am a mother of three, I am a wife, and I am BUSY!! So, this blog allows me a space where I don’t have to be only all about my family, but can talk about my beauty and lifestyle passions as well. Since starting this blog just over two years ago, I have also started a LeahTackles YouTube Channel where I share beauty hauls, makeup tutorials, and all sorts of other fun stuff similar to the content you read here. Last summer we took it a step further and decided as a family to document our lives on Our Daily Vlog Channel KwapisFamilyTackles. I talk about the kids from time to time on here and on my YouTube channel, but not I don’t share too much personal detail, but because we share our lives every day you would think I would be comfortable going into a lot of detail about our middle son, Connor, and his medical issues but it is so hard! I share bits and pieces, and appreciate all of the love! Who knows, as the journey continues we may as a family decide to share more : ) But, let’s get to my guest post! A friend from high school, who I sadly don’t get to see (girl, we need to make that happen!) but chat with pretty regularly on Facebook and who has been a champion of mine by rallying around me during trying seasons with Connor, reached out to me to see if I could help her share her story.

*Note: This story was not written or edited by me! And while I can relate to a TON of which she has to say, I would like to say that all statements and opinions are hers and may not be the same as mine. This is an amazing mom, wife, nurse, and all around fantastic human being.  I am thrilled to help out by giving her a place to share her beautifully and honestly written story. Please share this post so that your friends and family can see it too!

DEAR MOM of the HEALTHY CHILD

by Jennifer Barrantes

Dear Mom of the healthy child,

I love you. I love your spontaneity. I love your energy and your optimism and your routines. I am not jealous of your life, but I long for your regular-ness. I long for the usual and I long for the reliable. You see my son is sick. He looks fine. He isn’t dying. He isn’t fighting cancer. We are very fortunate and blessed. He has asthma. Not the “oh I used to have an inhaler for gym class when I was little,” type of asthma. It’s more like the cough until he throws up and can’t breathe, type of asthma. The, “I’ll start the treatment while you call 911” type of asthma.

He has spent many days of his young, nearly three year life in the hospital, doctor’s offices and emergency rooms. Hooked up to IV’s, heart monitors and oxygen tubing. He’s received endless steroids, breathing treatments, blood draws, antibiotics, antivirals and x-rays. I wouldn’t trade him for anything. He is tough as nails. He is my superman. Some of the best times him and I have had are around midnight, in the middle of the week, his laughter echoing through the hospital corridors, as we sit and watch an infinite line up of Disney movies. After the movies go out, we lay in the darkness of our hospital room. Our night light is his heart monitor and our entertainment is the pediatric unit’s fish tank. We nap all day with the quiet beeping of his monitor in the background as doctors, case workers and nutritionists file in and out. For as much fun as we have being out of our routine, out of our routine is exhausting.

You see, the treatment for restricted airways is albuterol. Albuterol is like a shot of caffeine… straight, inhaled. Talk about toddler to the max. I’d say, “Toddler on steroids…” but you see he’s on those too. So, caffeinated toddler on steroids. That’s not even fair. “Mom of the healthy kid” uses caffeine to REACH the energy level of her children. Once my son gets albuterol, all the coffee in the world couldn’t get me up on his level! He’s unreachable! Upon hospitalization he gets the treatments every two to three hours! If we are lucky enough to survive an asthma exacerbation at home, he gets the treatments every four hours. Moms, just know that albuterol always trumps caffeine.

Asthma isn’t the type of diagnosis that uproots you. Your jaw doesn’t drop and you don’t go into crisis mode instantaneously. We don’t have scheduled chemo or heart surgeries or physical therapy appointments. We are lucky for that. You see, asthma is a chronic illness. Asthma cannot be cured. It doesn’t end. It slowly wears you down. Our family has survived multiple ER visits and hospitalizations. It can get better and then worse again. We never know when it’s going to strike. It could be first thing in the morning or in the middle of the night. Its holidays, weekends and vacations. We don’t travel unless I know we are within minutes of a reputable hospital. You see his airways are so small right now that it could be anything at any time.

When your child doesn’t feel well, you want to give them whatever they want. This way they may feel better, if only for a moment. After all, it’s only temporary. For us, you could point to any random date on the calendar and chances are pretty good that would have been a “not so good” kind of day. Especially in the fall and winter months. Today …. I realized this. And I grieved. As I sit here in bed typing, his little body sleeps next to me. I can hear the lite whistle of his wheezes and the crackles of his chest. His lungs sound like crap. He stirs frequently and his coughs are in abundance. Today I didn’t grieve the loss of my child, I am blessed. I grieve the loss of an idea. The idea that this asthma crap was a temporary state.

Instead of going to yoga class, wine dates, girl’s night and the gym… I will be here. I will be where I am needed and we will struggle. I will have to move mountains to catch him up on his development. He will have to learn to use the potty, to read, to multiple and maybe even to drive a car…. While feeling unwell. Who knows how long it will last. I grieve the loss of my independence, I grieve the loss of my hobbies, I grieve the loss of my friends, but mostly I grieve the loss of an idea that I will not have a perfectly healthy child.

I’ve always thought, “I’ll wean his bottle when his asthma lets up. I’ll teach him to use the potty when his asthma lets up. I’ll teach him to share, to pray, to look both ways before crossing the street, to say please and thank you when his asthma lets up.” He is pushing 3 and his asthma hasn’t let up. I don’t want our life to center around him. I don’t want his sibling’s lives to revolve around him. I don’t want to put off teaching him how to share any longer. When he isn’t feeling well and I have to teach him to share, he’ll cry so hard he may have a hard time breathing. So I grieve. Am I making the right choices? How much damage am I causing now versus how much harder will it be to correct later? So many choices.

Did you know, that while pregnant the baby leaves fetal cells behind? In. Your. Brain! Imagine that…. No wonder people have developed the phrase, “moms have eyes in that back of their heads,” or “a mother’s intuition.” I have developed this uncanny anxiety which is closely related to the breathing of my child. As he is less able to breath, my anxiety gets to a breaking point where I grab my “go bag,” which is always at the ready. We race to the ER, they strap him up to an oxygen mask, filling it with breathing treatments and starting an IV. And he stares into my eyes the whole time. We just stare. I love him so. I love him so much my heart slows with his and my breathing slows with his. We made it. One more time. We are here in this place we love and hate so much. But we are here. We are safe. We are together.

We have good days too. SO many steroid free, albuterol free, sun shining, birds singing, finger painting on the back porch, kind of days. You can sure bet that we make the best out of those. We don’t waste time on the laundry. We swim, we sing, we learn the alphabet and we eat popsicles. Its summer now and he’s been steroid free for three months. Guess what? He is finally growing!

I’m not looking for sympathy. The other day I heard the best analogy for sympathy vs empathy.

So pretend I fell in a hole. Sympathy is standing at the top and yelling down, “hey do you need a flashlight and a sandwich? It’s looking pretty terrible down there.” Empathy is stopping what you’re doing, grabbing your ladder, climbing down into the dark hole with me and experiencing the fear together. The reason people cannot empathize is because they are afraid to feel that.

Mom of the healthy children, you’re probably thinking, “what do you want me to do? I don’t have time to find my ladder. I haven’t seen it since we bought our house. It’s probably buried under the dusty stroller and the bouncer chair now filled with cobwebs.” That’s okay. It’s not about the ladder anyway. When you’re tucking your healthy kids into their own beds at night just stop, look, listen and adore. For you are blessed. They are healthy. Don’t have sympathy for me, my child has not died. Just breathe the stress of the day off your shoulders and stare at those healthy, sleeping, angel faces and say a prayer. Thank God for your children and then say a prayer for mine. His breaths don’t come as easy and his dreams don’t flow as sweet. Dare to feel that anxiety with me, if only for a moment.

Did you stop and think about it? Think about your child struggling to breathe? Thank you. For now I am not alone.

The reason I write to you is this. I grieved today. It’s the two year mark of my son’s diagnosis. We have nearly lost him three times. I grieved NOT for the loss of my child. I am blessed. I grieved the loss of many things my child will never do. I grieved the loss of the idea that I too had a perfectly healthy child. It sounds so lame on paper. It sounds so lame out loud when you may not understand.

Mom of the healthy children, I am not jealous. I am not bitter. My life is so sweet and so beautiful and so spunky. I may turn down your jungle java dates and we may avoid birthday parties like the plague. If you took a moment above to empathize with my pain, now you understand. I love your schedules and your energy, your routines and your optimism. I love your grocery day and your play dates. I don’t have those. We tend to “fly by the seat of our pants” over here. So when our paths cross, give me a big hug and ask me how I am doing. Ask me about my sweet boy. Pull up two chairs, pour me some coffee and lend me your ear. I may need to vent, I may just need adult conversation and I will definitely need some encouragement. You see, in my eyes, my boy is perfect. In my eyes, our life is perfect. In my eyes, I am blessed to have been given this super hero who’s lungs can’t always keep up… and I will do anything to keep him here with us for as long as God will’s it.

Thank you for reading! Please leave your comments for Jennifer or myself! And leave a comment to support her for having the courage to share her story and positive message! Have a wonderful weekend : )

It’s easy, just enter your email into the subscription box on the right hand side of this webpage! You will be notified whenever I post something new, and it’s free : ) Don’t forget to enter my $25 Visa Gift Card Giveaway from my Mom Life Perception vs Mom Life Reality Post!

As most of you know I have three little ones under age five, and that means we need quick and easy snack options. Logan, our youngest, is an easy going kid which is a good thing because as the third born you basically have to be ; ) Logan has always loved to eat, but up until recently he really didn’t like the squeeze pouch purees that are so popular. One day I was trying to get dinner ready so I handed him a squeeze pouch and he actually used it! I was thrilled! It is such a great option, especially for on the go, so it was timely when the people from TripNik Food Pouches reached out to me to offer to send their reusable food pouches for consideration for review. I do not accept money in exchange for a positive review, and I tell you guys what I really think! I respect the fact that you value my reviews and opinions and I would never jeopardize that, so I always keep it real ; )

VIDEO OF PRODUCT DEMO, FIRST IMPRESSIONS, AND RECIPE:

STRAWBERRY-BANANA-TOFU SMOOTHIE:

The Best Homemade Baby Food on the Planet

*Note: This recipe has tofu which has all eight essential amino acids and lots of protein! You can also use peaches in place of strawberries : )

-1 small banana

-6 large fresh or frozen strawberries

-1/3 cup or 80 grams of silken tofu

-1 cup whole milk

Directions:

Lightly mash banana. Remove the stems of the strawberries and quarter them. Combine all of your ingredients into the blender and process until it is smooth. This recipe makes 4 servings.

PROS OF TRIPNIKS POUCH:

-Easy to clean

-You can put these in the freezer for later

-Dishwasher safe (whoop!)

-Easy to fill (*Note: I did not properly read the directions before the video and filled it too far, after reading I did not have overflow issues)

-A LOT less expensive

-Large size but still travel friendly

-Fun bright colors kids love

CONS OF TRIPNIKS POUCH:

-I find the plastic to be a bit hard on the edges, I wish it was a softer material

-I like the large size, but wish their was a smaller pouch size more comparable to the one time use ones you buy at the supermarket

OVERALL:

I really enjoy these overall, I do think that they could make some improvements to the material and size, but I still think these will come in handy! I can already see filling a few up with applesauce before heading out to the beach or over to my in-laws house and love the concept.

If you have any questions for me, let me know in the comments! Have a wonderful start to your week and I will talk to you on Wednesday : )

CYBER CLEAN: THE HIGH-TECH CLEANING COMPOUND REVIEW

April 6, 2016 & 2 Comments

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

If you follow our daily family vlog channel, then you probably know that I talked about receiving these products for consideration and review. If you don’t want our vlogs, or missed the vlog where I mentioned these products, you are probably confused because this isn’t a place where you usually find cleaning product reviews! I don’t always say yes to product offers, and I always try to review things that I think are something my readers (that’s YOU!) would enjoy and also fit in with the general theme of my blog. So, while I know I don’t usually talk about cleaning products, hang in there with me because I think these are worth sharing. As always, all opinions are my own and I never accept money in exchange for a positive review. I was not paid for this review, but given the products for my consideration.

Cyber Clean: The High-Tech Cleaning Compound

cyberclean-leahtackles.jpeg

cyberclean-homeandoffice-review-leahtackles.jpeg

Items Tested and Reviewed:

Car Interior Cyber Clean and Home & Office Cyber Clean

Product Claims Tested:

1.Removes germs on contact and enters even the tightest gaps and crevices that cannot be reached with conventional cleaners

I found this to be very true! My husband, Stephan, LOVED using it for all those tiny spots in the car between the front seats and on the dashboard that otherwise require using a toothbrush or else paying to have your car professionally detailed. It took minutes to clean all those little crevices! So cool…yep, cleaning stuff is cool because I’m an adult ; ) I also tried this on my keyboard and our remotes, and it was pretty awesomely gross ; )

2. Leaves no residue

I also found this to be true, but it does have a very strong scent that I don’t find very pleasant! It smells like chemicals even though it says it is based on natural ingredients, and I washed my hands REALLY well after using this.

3. Simply press it on, and the dirt is gone! Do not rub

Yep, this is true! I had the best luck pressing firmly and then slowly pulling it back up. It is cool to be able to see the grime that you maybe couldn’t see, and definitely couldn’t reach lift off of whatever surface your cleaning.

Product In Action:

IMG_1631 IMG_1632 cyberclean-reviewanddemo-leahtackles.jpeg

IMG_1634 cybercleandemo-leahtackles.jpegcyberclean-review-leahtackles.jpegcyberclean-carinterior-leahtackles.jpeg

Pros:

-It works fast for all those little spots that are so hard to clean in your car

-It makes me feel better knowing that I’ve been able to truly clean the electronics that we touch constantly

-It is reusable until the color changes (it comes with a chart to help you determine when it’s donezo)

-It has a container to keep it airtight

-Proven to eliminate more than 99% of germs commonly found on different surfaces

-Protects against harmful bacteria and promotes a healthy living environment

Cons:

-I really don’t like the smell

-It is super cool, kind of like flubber, so it worries me that the kids might try to play with or eat (looking at you Logan!) it, so definitely don’t let you little loves see this

Overall:

I really loved this for the car! I want to use it again when I’m finally able to detail my car for spring! We are in the middle of a snow storm currently (yep, in April!) so I haven’t vacuumed or cleaned up my car yet for spring, but this product will definitely now be a staple for getting it done faster. I also liked the Home & Office one too, but it just wasn’t quite as amazing to me as car Car Interior results.

Where to Buy:

You can purchase Cyber Clean on Amazon.com or MyQuestStore.com

Thank you for reading! Let me know about any spring cleaning projects you have been working on in the comments!

EASTER BAKING + EASTER BASKETS! | WHAT ARE YOUR EASTER TRADITIONS?

March 23, 2016 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

Because of everything going on with our middle kiddo, Connor, Easter has snuck up on me a little bit this year. I had a lot of fun last week at Target with my mom (thanks Mama) and browsing Amazon.com (thanks for picking up the package Hubs!) gathering things for Hailey, Connor, and Logan for their Easter baskets. I had wanted to film a video for my LeahTackles YouTube channel, or at least do a blog post sharing what I got each kid and how I themed their baskets this year, but due to all the traveling lately I didn’t have the stuff in time. If you would still be interested in seeing a video or blog post on what they got, or think I should film one to post next year, let me know in the comments!

Anyways, long ramble over, today I want to share some past Easter related posts and list a few ideas I have for last minute basket ideas! And, I want to know: What are YOUR Easter traditions? If you know me, I am BIG into family traditions, but we don’t have as many for Easter as we do for Christmas. We enjoy doing the fun Easter things like the Easter Bunny, decorating and hunting for eggs, baking, and sharing with our children part of what Easter means to us as well.

AFFORDABLE MAKEUP BRAND REVIEW! 2B COLOURS

March 21, 2016 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I am super excited to be bringing you a fun, affordable, and cruelty free makeup brand. I hadn’t heard of 2B Colours until my friend, Ciera, talked about them on her YouTube channel and blog. Shortly after hearing about them 2B reached out to me and offered to send me a few items for consideration and review. I have had the makeup items for a couple of weeks and feel that now I have had the chance to use all of the products and test them out to provide good and honest reviews. I also was sent a set of Nail Art Pens, so stay tuned for a review on that soon! And wish me luck ; )

Concealer Corrector Waterproof in 01 Peach

I wasn’t really sure what I would think of this when I saw the pen form, but I really have been enjoying it. The peach color works great for covering under eye circles, but I am careful when applying it so I’m not dragging it on my delicate eye area skin. I also LOVE this for targeting small imperfections or blemishes! I do find that it can be tricky to blend, but I just use my finger or a damp beauty sponge like the Beauty Blender. I would purchase this.

Cheek Pop Blush Powder in 04 Kissed By a Rose

This is my absolute favorite item that 2B sent me!! I want to try all of these blushes! This is SUPER pigmented! I was shocked and had to quickly blend it out because I was too heavy handed the first time I used it. This is gorgeous and it is very long wearing.

My Favorite Eye Color Eye Catcher in 01 White

I love the idea of having a white eye shadow on hand to use before applying other eye shadows so that the other shadows are exactly true to color, but I am not crazy about the texture of this shadow. I do think it works well for making other colors pop, and a small dab of it on the center of each eye lid makes the eyes pop as well, but this is my least favorite product in the bunch. I will keep you posted incase anything changes, but I wouldn’t purchase this.

Mascara in Mega Prune

I remember when I was in middle school and colored mascara was super popular! I think blue was the favorite color that year ; ) I normally wear only black mascara, but this was a really fun change! I will keep wearing this, and the prune is just ever so slightly different than a brown or black mascara, and is perfect if you just want a tiny bit of color.

Eye Liner Long Wear Waterproof in 01 Black

I tested this out in my waterline and it wore SUPER well on me! I was shocked because so many eye liners disappear on me almost instantly. I don’t know if it is waterproof, but it definitely wore well on the waterline. I have not tried it on the upper lash line yet. I would purchase this.

Pop Up Lips in 01 My Own Ice Cream Bar

I love this! The lip crayon is super creamy, and it’s just a hit of color but a very pretty pink. This isn’t long wearing, but it’s a super low maintenance lip that is easy to reapply even with no mirror. I definitely would purchase and I’ll keep this in my purse.

Hydrastick in 07 Rose

This feels very nice on the lips. This works perfectly for a natural makeup day when you just want a little moisture or for putting on under a lipstick. I like that it has jojoba oil and UVA/UVB filter. I also like that it is shaped like a lipstick instead of flat on the top like most lip balm products.

Mega Colours Nail Polish in 022 Rich Lavender

When I first started applying this I was worried because the first coat was very sheer, but the second coat was pretty and I could have stopped there but I went for a third coat and it was so pigmented! I couldn’t believe the difference. I also applied this without a base coat or a top coat and it wore for a few days without chipping. I was very happy with this, and my four year old, Hailey, wants to wear this color on her nails next.

PEACHES and PETALS SUBSCRIPTION BOX REVIEW FEBRUARY 2016! | 50% OFF CODE!

March 2, 2016 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

I am so thrilled to once again be reviewing a box for the fabulous people at Peaches and Petals! I have been away from home Sunday afternoon until Friday nights for a month now (shameless plug: watch our daily vlogs to see why!) and coming home to this box was so much fun! Peaches and Petals is a monthly style and beauty subscription box that they describe on the website as, “fun, flirty, and fashionable vintage-modern lifestyle”.

Sweet Spun Sugar Candle 4 oz

This candle is super sweet smelling and I really like it! I usually buy the big 3 wick candles from Bath & Body Works because I really like the scent to fill the room, so I hope this has a good throw.

Slightly Melted Sugar Scrubs

peachesandpetalssubscriptionbox-leahtackles.jpeg

I am so excited about these! They are absolutely adorable and remind me of something you would find at Lush. The packaging is just so charming, and they work really well! These gems would be adorable as part of a gift!

Love Birds Salt and Pepper Shakers

peachesandpetals-subscriptionboxreview-leahtackles.jpeg

These are cute but I don’t know if I will actually use them. I feel like I will maybe set these up as part of a tablescape, but not alone they are quite small.

Whoopsie Pies Baking Book

I am so excited about this! I can’t wait until I am able to make a few of these with the kiddos when I am back home : ) Yummy! And absolutely adorable! My 4 year old, Hailey, loves the pictures in this little book.

Lip Smacker Girl Scout Coconut Carmel Stripes Lip Balm

As a beauty and lifestyle blogger I can’t help but smile at Lip Smacker! Lip Smackers were my first step into the world of makeup and beauty items. And Girl Scout cookie scented Lip Smackers? Sign me up! And now that I have this I really want to grab a few of my old throw back favorites like Dr. Pepper lip smacker which I loved for the scent AND because it was the closest to a lip stain I could get away with ; )

XOXO Throw Pillow Cover

peachesandpetalssubscriptionboxreview-leahtackles.jpeg

I really love this! I think it’s a great way to spruce up a boring pillow that just came with our couch. I am also totally on board with the black and gold trend, so this is perfect!

I think that Peaches and Petals did a fantastic job this month! I adore the Slightly Melted Sugar Scrubs, I am excited to use the Whoopie Pie Baking Book, the Lip Smacker makes me smile, and the pillow case is great quality. The Love Bird Salt & Pepper Shakers and the Sugar Spun Candle were just okay, I don’t dislike them but I would have rather them combined that into one item like a bigger candle.  I really liked the box and think that the value is good. The box costs $19.99 with shipping included and remember to use the code LEAHPEACH for 50% off your first box!
