TOP SINGLE EYE SHADOW PICKS FOR ONE SHADOW LOOKS

October 7, 2015 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

I wear makeup most days, and sometimes I only can spend a few minutes on my makeup, so I love having my favorite single eye shadows that I can swipe on my lids for a really easy look. If you have a favorite single shadow, please let me know what it is! I love comments!! ; )

bestsingleeyeshadows-singleeyeshadows-leahtackles.jpeg FullSizeRender (3)

1. M.A.C Paint Pot in Bare Study

This cream shadow makes a gorgeous base for eye shadows, but I also will swipe it on my lids for a super easy look. I have to always have this with me when I travel, too.

2. Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hour Eye Shadow in Inked in Pink

I use this alone on my lids ALL the time! I actually had this on the day before Logan was born, and it survived a drug-free labor ; ) I am planning to buy several more of these before our Disney trip so that I can wear a little makeup but only spend a few minutes doing it.

3. Elf Long-Lasting Lustrous Eyeshadow in Toast

How stunning is this color?! BAM! The texture of these eye shadows remind me of the Bouncy Blushes from Maybelline, and it’s again a very easy, very pigmented eye shadow.

4. L’Oreal Paris 24 Hour Infallible Eye Shadow in Iced Latte

The Infallible shadows are hugely popular, and for good reason! This might be my absolute favorite single shadow, and you can usually find them for buy one get one 50% off.

5. Urban Decay Single Shadow in Free Love

I just hauled this gorgeous metallic-y peach eye shadow in my Big Sephora Haul video, and I have worn it for almost a week straight! I love putting this into my crease with a fluffy brush for a look that looks like you spent a lot of time, but actually only took a minute!

If you liked this style of post, please let me know! I hope that you have a fantastic rest of your week and weekend! xx

Still Can’t Keep Up? 5 Ways to Simplify Your Makeup (Drugstore Edition)

July 27, 2015 & 4 Comments

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I got a positive response from last Wednesday’s post, Can’t Keep Up? 5 Ways to Simplify Your Makeup (High-End Edition), and so today I am sharing my drugstore picks. So, here are the drugstore items I would pick if limited to 5 to get an amazing look!

1. Revlon ColorStay Makeup For Oily/Combo Skin

This is my favorite drugstore foundation for days when I want a full coverage, flawless look that will not budge. A little goes a very long way, and I like to stipple it on, but a beauty blender or fingers work fine, too. They do have a dry skin version of this, as well as a whipped version.

2.  E.L.F Contouring Blush & Bronzer in St. Lucia

I love this set for traveling because the blush is gorgeous, the bronzer is beautiful and although it is a tad orange, is still usable as a contour color on my fair skin if I use a light hand. This also has a huge mirror, which I think is so handy.

3. Maybelline The Nudes Palette

This is an awesome value, and if you can’t justify an expensive neutrals palette, this is the way to go. I also have The Blushed Nudes Palette from Maybelline which I do love, but this I feel is overall better quality and you can get a bigger range of looks out of this.

4. L’Oréal Lineur Intense Brush Tip Liquid Eye Liner

This is a great liquid liner for everything from a fine line to a big wing. I love the brush tip because it is easy to control, and the color is very dark black.

5. CoverGirl Clump Crusher Mascara

I absolutely always have this mascara on hand! I personally like the water resistant formula. I use this daily! It is always on my bottom lashes, and I like to use this on my top lashes after curling to keep the curl. For more nautral days, I wear this alone, and for more dramtic looks this is a great layering mascara.

Please let me know what your favorite items from the drugstore are in the comments! Commenting is easy (just click by link under the title of each post!) AND it makes my day!! ; )

Have a beautiful week! I will see you Wednesday!

Mally Beauty Poreless Face Defender Review with before & after pictures!

July 13, 2015 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I hope that you each had a wonderful weekend! I will keep this short and sweet today and hop into the review : )

Mally Beauty EverColor Poreless Face Defender with Sponge:

Price:

$40

Claims:

1) Diffuses Pores and Fine Lines

Absolutely did this for me!

2) Makes Your Makeup Last

This one the verdict is still out on for me. I like setting my makeup with setting powders, and it probably does help just like setting with powder helps, but it isn’t a mind blowing selling point for me.

3) Matte Finish

YES! This is the biggest selling point for me! Matte finish without a powdery or cakey look!

Pictures:

Before:

After:

*Note: I wasn’t super oily to begin with, but here you can see how matte it made me and how it blurred the pores on my nose!

Thoughts:

Love, love, love being able to keep oil at bay without adding powder because I haaaate adding powder, especially in the summer when I’m especially oily. This is a new favorite : )

Have a wonderful day!

Rodan + Fields Skincare Review

February 9, 2015 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

Over the past few weeks I have been testing out some skincare items from the company Rodan + Fields. If the name sounds familiar to you, that’s because it is developed by the same doctors who brought us ProActiv Solution years ago. The Rodan + Fields line was a top seller in department stores like Bloomingdales and Nordstrom, but the creators decided to pull the line when they realized that most of the people purchasing Rodan + Fields were learning about it via word-of-mouth. Now Rodan + Fields products are sold like MaryKay on a direct sales format.

This product was sent to me, but as always I will never accept money in exchange for a positive review! All of the thoughts are my own, and if I am sent a product that I do not like I will either not talk about it at all, or tell you what I thought! I want to be a reliable source for you, and I do my best!

Initial Thoughts On the Company:

There are SOOO MANY direct sale lines out right now…jewelry, tupperware, skincare, makeup, unmentionables…you name it! And sometimes I’ll admit that I roll my eyes when I hear about yet another one, but skincare is something I’m caring about more and more as I get older, and I loved right off the bat the many different options for all skin types and ages that Rodan + Fields offers. I then started reading other peoples reviews and the company history, and decided it was worth another look.

About My Skin:

Firstly it should be stated that pregnancy can absolutely change the way your skin behaves, and after pregnancy the horomone changes can make your skin react crazy as well! I was very lucky to have great (for me) skin during Logan’s pregnancy, and have had a few breakouts since his birth but so far it’s been (knock on wood) manageable. I am in that funky phase where I still get oily on my t-zone, my nose especially, but I’m also battling fine lines and wrinkles now that I’m approaching my late 20’s (I am 27 for another 5 weeks & I’m hanging onto that counting as mid 20’s!)

ENHANCEMENTS MICRO-DERMABRASION PASTE:

rodanandfieldsmicrodermabrasionpaste-leahtackles.jpeg

This is far and away my favorite of the 3 products I tried! I absolutely adore this! A little goes a long way, and I immediately noticed a beautiful glow and improved texture. You can use this without water for a more heavy exfoliation (my prefered way, 3 times/week) or use it with water for a more gentle approach. If you can only try one item from Rodan + Fields, this is far and away the star for me of the 3 I sampled! This did not cause breakouts or inflamation, but with that said my skin handles even professional in-spa micro-dermabrasion treatments without issue.

REDEFINE NIGHT RENEWING SERUM:

rodanandfieldsnightrewnewingserum-leahtackles.jpeg

This made my skin feel like silk immediately after application! I noticed that my makeup applied beautifully the next day as well.  I did find that my skin felt a tad dry after, so I followed the optional direction of using a tad of moisturizer after applying this.  I loved the way it made my skin feel, and I would love to try using it in the future, but because I only had a small sample I am not sure if it would be holy grail status for me or not. But did I enjoy it? Absolutely!

REDEFINE LIP RENEWING SERUM:

rodanandfieldsreview-leahtackles.jpeg

I have talked quite a bite recently about how horribly dry my lips have been! I haven’t worn lipstick, with the exception of Christmas parties, in months! At first I wasn’t sure if I liked this any better than my regular chapsticks, but after using this consistently for several days in a row I noticed that my lips felt very soft and as crazy as it sounds they looked a bit more naturaly red or rosy but without the uncomfortable sting/ tingle that some lip plumping products have. This is pricy, but I do think that is works. I would buy this in the future and think it would be fabulous to use leading up to a big event! And hello, wedding season is fast approaching!

 TO ORDER:

Kristy Ownby made me feel *totally* comfortable discussing my skincare concerns and target areas, and was very informative to all of my questions! If I’m reviewing something for you guys, I make it really clear that I am going to ask alllll sorts of stuff, and she was up to the challenge. In talking with Kristy I have found a few other items that I am super tempted to try! She mentioned that the Pore Minimizing Toner is like spanx for your face…umm hello that sounds RIGHT up my ally! And the Redefine Cleansing Mask which should combat any oil..anyone who gets oily knows that anything that can stop that must be tried!
