Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation First Impressions & Review

May 4, 2015 & 1 Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

Recently I’ve picked up so many fun makeup items and while I *love* hauling them for you, I thought it would be fun to share some first impressions and reviews on some of the products I’ve gotten one at a time as opposed to one big haul or swatch fest. I am hoping that going into a bit more detail is helpful and one at a time will be less overwhelming. If you have any requests of products you’d like my opinion on, please feel free to let me know! I want to give the people what they want as much as I can ; ) I also am planning to work some of these products into tutorials and real wear reviews on my YouTube channel as well, so be on the lookout for that!

Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation:

First Impression:

I was a bit nervous because I did order this online and thought that the color I ordered might not be right as it was described as being peach undertones and I always consider myself as pink undertones, but I went for it because there isn’t a pink undertones option in the lightest shade. So, thankfully upon first swatch “Fair Honey” for fair skin with peach undertones seems to be a good match. Beautiful packaging! And I love the netting that covers the foundation so it doesn’t get everywhere, but it’s soft netting so you can actually get it out by pressing your brush into it as opposed to having to dump some into the lid like I do with some loose powder products in my collection.

Application:

I was AMAZED at how little of this I needed! It’s a buildable full coverage foundation, and I love how natural it looks. I did find that the tip of my nose did get a bit shiny after several hours, but it was a warm day and I was fairly active. I love that it didn’t seem to break up on my skin, even on my nose where I was noticing some shine. I love that I was able to go back in a bit later in the day and add a little more to touch up. So far I am very impressed and think I’ll be wearing this a lot this summer!

Tarte Airbuki Bamboo Powder Foundation Brush:

First Impression:

I love this! I have a pretty decent collection of makeup brushes, but I don’t have ANYTHING like this! It is SO densely packed! I am glad that I ordered this to try with the makeup.

Review:

Could I use the foundation without this and get good results? Yes, probably! I have other kabuki style brushes and Bare Minerals brushes, but I am very happy I ordered this. Just like when I ordered my Cover FX Contour Kit (mentioned in my High End Beauty Haul video) and I said that I opted to try the brush that is suggested to use with it, I thought that I might as well try the brush that is made specicially for this foundation so I could give the foundation its best shot. I know that sometimes I will dislike a foundation until I swich up my application method and then I end up really enjoying it. I am so far very happy with this brush, and how cute is it?! VERY cute!

So, I have only worn this foundation for one full day, but so far I am very happy. If you have any questions or comments, please let me know! I would also love to do a turoial using this foundation and brush on my YouTube channel, so let me know if you’re interested in that as well.

Thank you as always for being here! It means so much to me to have a bit of your time! Also, be sure to be on the lookout for a Tarte giveaway coming up soon!! xoxo

Ipsy Glam Bag February 2015!

February 25, 2015 & 2 Comments

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

Thank you for being here!

Today I want to share my Ipsy bag for February 2015! If you don’t know, Ipsy Glam Bag is a $10/month subscription where you get 4-5 deluxe size samples or sometimes full size products in makeup, hair, nails, and skincare. Do you subscribe to Ipsy? I would love to hear about what you thought of your bag this month!! I don’t look at spoilers, I love the surprise everytime I get subscription bag/box mail, but I do love seeing the other variations people got once I’ve opened mine. Do you check spoilers? Is that why you’re here?! ; )

February Ipsy Glam Bag:

Bag and Theme:

I like this bag, it’s very cute and will fit a few items nicely for long day trips or tucking some essentials into my diaper bag (p.s I miss purses!! ; ) ) The theme “Love is just a word…until you find someone to give it meaning” is cute.

Model Co. Blush Cheek Powder in Cosmopolitan 01:

This is my favorite item in the bag by far! I love blush and this classic pink color is so pretty!

City Color Cosmetics Cream Lip Stain in Flirtini:

It needs to be said: This packaging is awful! Seriously, not cute! Not even a little bit. I appreciate pretty packaging, but don’t consider myself a packaging snob, but this crosses the line for me! It also has an odd smell, not strong enough that it would stop me from wearing it, but something to be aware of. I will say that I tried it and really enjoyed the color and found that it did stain my lips pretty nicely. If you’re watching this season of The Bachelor, it reminds me of Brit’s famous pout.

Eva NYC Up All Night Volumizing Spray:

I haven’t tried this yet because mine leaked everywhere unfortunately : ( I have never had leaked items before and this month I had one in both my February PopSugar Must Have Box and my Ipsy! Ipsy responded almost immiedately to my email and they are replacing this item and my bag because it was all wet.

Emite Make Up Professional Eye Lash Curler:

Ipsy sent out an email saying that some of these were defective, and while mine wasn’t I don’t want to take any chances! I love my lashes, thank you very much! I don’t need an eyelash curler breaking them off! I love my Tarte curler and doubt this would have beat that for me anyways. It was nice they emailed everyone and showed pictures to identify a defective curler, though.

Mitchell and Peach Flora No. 1 Fine Radiance Face Oil:

I love this! It feels wonderful and doesn’t make my combo/oily skin feel greasy at all. A very nice face oil! I would consider purchasing this one!

Overall, I am not thrilled with the bag, but I don’t hate it either. Let’s hope March is a better month for my *BIRTHDAY* month : ) Do you subscribe to Ipsy? Did you like your bag this month? If you’d like to subscribe you can do so by clicking here!

Thank you for reading and supporting my blog! Please don’t forget to subscribe and share!! Have a great weekend!

Friday Favorite: Benjabelle Brush Tree Information and Review

March 21, 2014 & 1 Comment

Hi There! Happy Friday!!!

I have a Friday Favorite for you all today! I want to review a very handy and innovative product: The Benjabelle Brush Tree.

photo 1 (3)

The Benjabelle Brush Tree is a product that allows you to dry your makeup brushes vertically so that no water gets into the ferrule of your brush. You should never dry your makeup brushes with the brush part up because water will run into the ferrule, causing it to eventually start to fall apart. Before receiving my Sunflower Benjabelle Brush Tree for Christmas, I would dry my brushes horizontally on a towel. That option works, but takes up a lot of space and can cause very large powder or kabuki brushes to become flat on one side.

One of the things I liked instantly when I went to the website www.benjabelle.com is how personable the creators, a husband and wife duo, seemed. The about us page is completely adorable and just warms my heart. The Benjabelle Brush tree comes with easy care and cleaning instructions. The brush tree also has a money back guarantee. Three pieces come that piece together: two for the trunk or the base, and one for the top. The Benjabelle Trees are made in America with American made materials. There are four different brush tree models: The Original, The Mini, The Daisy, and The Sunflower (they can be seen here and I have The Sunflower). They also sell two different brush cleaners, which I have not tried so I cannot speak to, and a brush tree base spinner that is not necessary, but I think it is really cool!

How It Works:

To use the brush tree you slide the two trunk pieces together and then I like to put the top piece onto my vanity before pressing the trunk into a slot at the top. It is really easy and very secure.

You then go ahead and wash you makeup brushes as usual (if you would like to see how I wash my brushes, let me know by leaving a comment at the top of this post) or find me on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram!) and then insert the brush handle from underneath the brush tree. When the brushes are dry, pull the brushes up through the top!

I think that the brush tree is an amazing, simple, and brilliant invention! I think any makeup lover or makeup artist would be happy to have it in their beauty arsenal. Also, this isn’t marketed this way that I know of, but I think that it would be awesome for artists out there as well! I am not really an artist (read: I draw stick people…) but my husband is, and I know that this would be something that he could use for his paint brushes, so thought I would throw that out there.

Obviously, I really love this product and can’t stop gushing about it! But that is because it is THAT good.

How do you dry your makeup brushes? Tell me in the comments (comment at the top of each post), or find me on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram! If you have any thoughts, questions or if there is a product you would like to see me review, please feel free to let me know! If you enjoyed this post, please subscribe by entering your email in the subscribe box on the right hand side of the page. For those who have subscribed, thank you! I hope you all have an wonderful weekend!
