I RAN A MARATHON | ALL THE GEAR I USED

June 21, 2021 & Leave a Comment

Hi there, Happy Monday!

I DID IT! I ran 26.2 miles and finished a marathon. I couldn’t have done it without the grace and support of my husband, first and foremost, who never complained when I would spend HOURS training. My kids, who are sweet and encouraging and always wrote me little “You can do it” notes. To my family and best friends who showed up for me and supported me and cheered for me virtually and in-person. It made a difference. My longest run in training was 19 miles, and I added 7.2 miles to that largely thanks to my crowd support. And the medal, let’s be real.

SEE MY PICS HERE

Today I will be sharing EVERYTHING I used during the marathon. It isn’t a beauty or fashion post, per se, but I did rock mascara and brow gel without issue if anyone is wanting to know ; )

MARATHON GEAR I ACTUALLY USED

The BEST Summer T-Shirt Dress | Time and Tru

May 31, 2021 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday! And, Happy Memorial Day! I hope you’re enjoying a long weekend if you’re here in the U.S.

Last summer I purchased two t-shirt style, tiered baby doll style dresses that I wore ALL. THE. TIME. It was perfect. Comfortable, easy, breezy and I could wear in to appointments, out-and-about, to church, and be cute but modest enough to feel comfortable that my bum wouldn’t show.

I snagged this years version, that has a ruffle sleeve too which is so fun.

Packing Cubes | Why You NEED Them

August 10, 2020 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

As you read this I am sitting at my family lake cottage and hopefully offline. I wrote this amidst packing for a family of five. Mamas, you *know* what I’m talking about. WOOF. One of my pet peeves is living out of a suitcase [ I unpack and organize. ALWAYS.] and packing cubes have changed my packing game.

Why You NEED Packing Cubes

Packing cubes didn’t sound any better than large zip locks to me and I didn’t want to take the plunge. But they are so good and save so much space. No more wrinkled, not being able to see what’s clean vs. what’s dirty mess. They are worth the small investment and the entire trip run more smoothly.

My Routine

I pack an outfit for every person for every day of the trip (including underwear and socks) and a couple of extra outfits. I pack a “dinner” outfit for everyone if applicable. I pack everyone a sweatshirt and a pair of jeans for cool evenings and mornings. I pack each person two swimsuits so one can dry while the other is being worn. Everyone gets pajamas, a jacket, and typically sandals and sneakers. I pack outfits for each person in one cube. I pack socks and underwear in one cube. I pack pajamas for the kids in one cube and me in another (husband isn’t a PJs guy, but he gets joggers and basketball shorts). I have a cube for my bras. I also have toiletries in a bag. I take a giant mesh laundry bag (ala college) for the dirty laundry.

Do you use packing cubes? Or do you just toss everything in and pray? Let me know in a comment!

How-To Start a Morning Routine AND Keep It

May 4, 2020 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

As many of us have switched to remote work amidst the pandemic, and although I always work from home my kids aren’t always at home, so I’ve found myself clutching to my boundary setting more than ever. My favorite boundary is absolutely my morning routine, and today I’d like to share how it is changed my life, and is a way that I feel more beautiful (inside and out).

Why YOU Need a Morning Routine

A morning routine helps to set the tone (a.k.a your mood) for your entire day. A morning routine allows you to figure out how you’re feeling, before social media, the news, or a work email tell you how to feel. A morning routine helps you to prioritize your schedule, and ensure that you have some times for you, no matter how chaotic your schedule may be.

How a Morning Routine Makes You More Beautiful

By giving yourself 10-20 minutes every morning, you are also giving everyone you interact with a happier, more present, and kinder version of yourself. I also find that when I give myself time in the morning, and have prepped the evening before for a couple of minutes (as described in my mini-course) I choose outfits that make me feel more beautiful outwardly, and I have time to put on some makeup and style my hair.

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I have been masking regularly again and taking this time as we quarantine to take extra good care of my skin.

I love the Garnier Skin Active line and the Moisture Bomb Sheet Mask has been wonderful with so much time spent indoors that has made my skin more dry than normal.

It is a water-based sheet mask with Hyaluronic Acid. The mask is free of mineral oil and petrolatum, and is a non-greasy formula, with green tea extract, that provides added hydration.

FOOT PEELING MASK RESULTS? | TONY MOLY FOOT PEELING SHOES REVIEW

February 5, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I hope that you had a fantastic weekend and enjoyed S̶u̶p̶e̶r̶ ̶B̶o̶w̶l̶ ̶L̶I̶I̶   the Justin Timberlake concert last night if you watched! Did you have a favorite commercial? I am a total ad nerd, and loved the NFL Dirty Dancing lift and I thought the Amazon Alexa one was hilarious.

A couple weeks ago I shared my initial thoughts in my Tony Moly Foot Peeling Shoes Review and today I wanted to share my final thoughts.

Did My Feet Peel?

YES! It was taking awhile for anything to happen beyond the initial super-soft feel, but around day five I was in the shower and felt something on the bottom of my foot…I looked and it was SHEETS of skin coming off my feet! It didn’t hurt at all. I had peeling for another day or so following the shower peel, and I tried hard to follow the instructions of not pulling at the peeling areas (not easy).

Final Thoughts

I definitely enjoyed my results and will continue to do these from time to time. I think that to maintain the results you would have to do them quite frequently, and I wouldn’t want my feet to be peeling all of the time. I did notice that the areas of the feet that area natural more rough, like the heel and the side of the big toe, didn’t peel which was a little disappointing but I bet if I had taken a pumice to them in the shower they would have softened right up. I think the Tony Moly Foot Peeling Shoes Mask would be fun to do before an occasion or vacation, but you would have to try to time it right.

Have you tried these? What did you think? I would love to hear of other foot masks that you have tried in the comments! Thank you for reading : ) xx

Garnier Whole Blends Hydrating Shampoo Coconut Water & Vanilla Milk Review

November 8, 2017 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

I hope that you are having a wonderful week!

I love having a few different shampoos on hand at any given time so that depending on my hair needs I can have a selection to choose from. I love anything coconut scented, so I was drawn to this shampoo from Garnier.

What It Claims

This shampoo gives moisture to dry or damaged hair without being heavy or weighing your hair down. The Garnier Whole Blends Hydrating Shampoo is paraben-free and gentle enough for regular use.

My Thoughts

I LOVE the way this smells, it is a subtle coconut and vanilla smell, but I found it very pleasant. My husband also loves coconut and likes using this shampoo as well. I like that this shampoo is inexpensive and I didn’t have to use too much to get a nice lather. I will definitely keep this on hand because it is affordable and effective. I haven’t used it long enough to see if it makes a big impact on my color-treated hair that has some damage, but my hair feels very soft and clean after using this.

My Routine

I use this shampoo a couple of times a week and I have been following up with the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Deep Conditioner, which is another fantastic and great smelling drugstore hair product.

BRONZER FOR ULTRA FAIR SKIN! | BENEFIT COSMETICS HOOLA LIGHT YAY OR NAY?

April 26, 2017 & 1 Comment

Hi there! Happy Wednesday! And most importantly, HAPPY 6TH BIRTHDAY to my daughter, Hailey Madison! Be sure to follow me on Snapchat (@LeahTackles) for birthday cuteness!

As someone with fair skin I know that bronzer can be tricky because a lot of them tend to be way too dark or can appear orange on my skin…translation? NOT cute! So, when I saw that Benefit released a “lite” version of their cult favorite Hoola, I was very excited to try it.

Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Lite:

Price:

$29

Packaging:

Just like the original Hoola Bronzer and the Benefit boxed blushes this comes in a study cardboard box with adorable details, a nice mirror, and a brush. I personally do not use the brush unless I am in a pinch, but it could be used if that is your preference.

First Impression:

This is not too warm and reminds me of a darker shade of a powder foundation instead of a very bronzy shade that you typically see with bronzers. I love that this looks very natural on the skin and blended out very easily. This product is not shimmery or sparkly, and I think it will be beautiful for a very natural look or with a blush with a bit of shimmer like the Benefit Galifornia Blush I blogged about a couple of weeks ago (read that post here).

Overall:

This product could be used for people with fair to light skin for bronzing and to do a very light, subtle contour is you have very fair skin like me. I love that this is an easy way to bronze my skin without having the fear of appearing too dark, fake, or orange. I do use other bronzers with a more subtle hand and that works, but this is a no nonsense way for a fair gal like me to lightly add some bronze to the skin. I think this is also a very natural looking color for someone with fair skin like mine as opposed to a warmer bronze.

Have you tried this? What is your FAVORITE bronzer? Let me know in the comments! xx

STRETCH MARK CREAM REVIEW | NAVAN SKINCARE

April 3, 2017 & 2 Comments

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I hope that you had a wonderful weekend! Today I wanted to share my thoughts on the Stretch Mark Reducing Cream from Navan Skincare. If you follow me on Snapchat (@LeahTackles) you may have seen me speak about this when I was gifted it from Navan Skincare for my consideration for review.

Stretch Mark Reducing Cream from Navan Skincare

This cream claims to work to reduce the appearance of stretch marks by combining three scientifically back ingredients (Collaxyl™, Elastonyl®, Retinyl) and six natural oils (Jojoba Oil, Rosehip Seed Oil, Rosemary leaf oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Peppermint Oil, Lavender Oil), that work to diminish the appearance of stretch marks caused by pregnancy or extreme weight gain or loss on the belly, hips, bum, thighs, breasts and arms.

My Initial Thoughts

I was a little unsure of this product because stretch marks aren’t a huge problem area for me and I have tried other creams in the past. I do have three children, so I had one stretch mark on my stomach that I really wanted to fade, as well as on my inner thigh. During all of my pregnancies and in the first few postpartum months I drank a ton of water, and also slathered myself in body oils and lotions to hopefully reduce my chances for stretch marks. I decided to try using the Navan Stretch Mark Reducing Cream twice daily and see if I noticed a difference.

Why I Love It

I really like that this cream has a refreshing and not overpowering smell, sinks into the skin quickly which is important because you are not supposed to get dressed until it has absorbed into the skin, and also comes in a container where I can (and did!) scrape out every last bit. It is a thick, creamy consistency so that it feel substantial not watery or oily, which I enjoy. I definitely noticed a significant difference in the appearance of my stretch marks. I like this because it wasn’t oily, sticky, or a pain to use.

Would I Purchase This Product and Will I Continue Using It?

I really loved this product, and it has peaked my interest in the rest of the Navan Skincare line because I found this to work better than other brands products with similar claims and price points. I do think that this product helps to reduce the appearance of stretch marks, and is worth a try.

Discount Code

Navan Skincare has kindly given me a discount code to share with you. Use the code Leah15 to save 15% off of your order. *Note: I am not paid if you purchase using this code, it is just a discount for you to try the product if you’d like.

November 16, 2016 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

I hope that you are having a great week! I am in full on holiday mode now in terms of making my lists and adding to them twice ; ) I absolutely love doing stockings because who doesn’t like little goodies that are personally picked for them?! They are so much fun to make, and I like that it’s a little bit of a puzzle to make it all fit together. You will see aisles dedicated to stocking stuffer goodness in most stores, and while they’re fun they can get really expensive! I decided it would be fun to share a few beauty items that you can find at most drugstores or big box stores for $5 and under each. If you have ideas for affordable beauty stocking stuffers, let me know in the comments : )
