STYLE SUBSCRIPTION BOX | NADINE WEST CLOTHING SUBSCRIPTION REVIEW

March 7, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

I hope that you are having a great start to your week : ) I have shared my outfits from Nadine West before on my blog (read the posts here, here, here, here, and here), and I have been wearing some items from my last several boxes a lot lately, so I was so excited to receive a new box in the mail from them. Nadine West sent me this box for my consideration for review but I was not paid to write this post and as always all opinions are my own.

What is Nadine West?

NadineWest.com is a company that sends you an outfit to try on and you keep only what you love. The outfit is a surprise, but you take a style quiz and the stylists get to know your style more each month. The outfits are affordable with pieces costing about $10-$30 each, which is very affordable compared to other similar services.

How Does It Work?

On the Nadine West website, you take the style quiz so that the stylist can get to know what you are looking for in an outfit. You will receive a pink package in the mail with your personalized outfit. Try on the outfit and keep what you love and send back what you don’t.

My Thoughts

The style quiz was super easy to do, which was great because I wanted something that didn’t take too much time but I was still able to make notes to make sure the stylist knew my preferences. I really loved the surprise aspect of this, and it was like opening up a girly gift from a really stylish friend. I cannot stand having to return things, it is such a bummer, but I LOVE the way this company does it because your outfit comes with return shipping.

Discount Code

Use the referral code “Nadine” on NadineWest.com (not an affiliate code for me, just sharing the one they currently have on their website) to waive your shipping fee which means you’ll get your outfit in the mail without paying anything!

My Outfit

This month I received a beautiful black floral tunic, fleece lined burgundy leggings, a gray and white striped sweater with elbow patches, a pair of statement earrings, a gold and silver necklace, and a navy leather bracelet with floral beads.

Did I Keep It?

Yes! One of my very best friends had a surprise birthday party, and I completely changed the outfit I had picked out in order to wear the black floral tunic! The floral tunic is almost a dress, but the tie waist opens a bit so I prefer to wear it as a tunic with leggings. I was thrilled that the fleece lined leggings paired perfectly with the flowers on the tunic. I love that the leggings are lined with fleece, and they’re great because I have already been able to dress them up and then again down with a cozy crewneck sweatshirt. I love classic pieces and neutral colors, so the striped sweater with the cute elbow patch detail has already been worn several times, although I do wish it was a bit longer. I am not a fan of the necklace, even though I do think it looks pretty on, but I think that it is something that I can pass on to someone who likes that style. The bracelet also isn’t something I would have picked, but I think it will be super cute in the summer, especially layered with other pieces. I wouldn’t have picked the earrings, I am such a stud earring girl, but I ended up LOVING what a statement these make. My favorite piece is by far the tunic along with the leggings. I think that Nadine West does a good job paying attention to your opinions, so my boxes have been improving and evolving with my feedback.

Have you tried any fashion boxes like this? Have you tried Nadine West? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

KEY PIECES TO BUILD A STYLISH WARDROBE (AFFORDABLE) | MY BIRTHDAY WISHLIST

March 5, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I hope that you had a wonderful weekend! It is my birthday month, and today I wanted to share a few of the things on my wishlist because I think they are fantastic options for anyone who is working to build a stylish wardrobe.

My Style

In the past couple of years I have been working to only purchase things that bring me happiness, and while I am in no way a minimalist or attempting to be, I think that having a few basic items can ensure that you’re always looking fantastic. I love neutrals because I think that even if a shirt is a more budget-friendly brand, such as Target, H&M, or even Forever 21, you can dress it up with a great necklace, or a nicer handbag. I usually keep my blog beauty-based, but if you’d like to see more of my style picks for shirts, jeans, bras, and shoes please comment to let me know.

My Wishlist

Kate Spade Cameron Street Lacey Wallet

I love this wallet for its timeless style and functionality. I think this looks fantastic with lots of handbags, and I love that it zips around to keep your cards and cash safe.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette

If you’re a regular reader of my blog then you know that I have plenty of neutral eyeshadow palettes, but this one speaks to me because it combines the incredible quality of Anastasia Beverly Hills (same formula as the Modern Renaissance Palette!) with shades that can go from very natural to full glam.

Steve Madden Daisie Pump

I recently went through my closet and narrowed down my shoes to ones that I love and classic pieces that I know will always be a wardrobe staple. I have a pair of nude heels with a rounded toe, but I’ve realized that I really need a pair of pointy toe nude heels because they would work with so many looks. I love this pair of Steve Madden Daisie Pumps because they’re affordable but have fantastic reviews, plus I have always historically had luck with Steve Madden shoes.

The Ordinary 100% Cold Pressed Virgin Marula Oil

A friend shared her collection of The Ordinary skincare a few months ago and I have picked up a few items since. I love The Ordinary because they offer a ton of different acids, oils, and vitamin products that you can pick and choose based on your needs. The price point is affordable, the brand integrity is backed by fantastic reviews, and the packaging is modern and clean. One of my items on my must-try list is the Cold Pressed Virgin Marula Oil. I also want to try the Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil. If you are interested in hearing more of my thoughts on The Ordinary, please let me know!

Kendra Scott Gold Stud Earrings

I love Kendra Scott jewelry and I am a stud earring girl, so I am completely swooning over these Gold Studs! I love all of the color options, but right now the slate is really speaking to me! What color do you like the best?

Miranda Frye Stephanie Threader

I have become OBSESSED with Miranda Frye lately and a pair of her amazing threader earrings is up high on my current lust-list wish-list! The earrings are said to be very light and you actually thread the string like metal through your ear and they hang so beautifully. Miranda Frye also has gorgeous necklaces that can be layered, as well as incredible rings that are also swoon-worthy.

What is on your wishlist? What are your closet and style staples?  I would love it if you commented to let everyone know in the comments! xx

My Outfit

This month I received a beautiful floral top that has a lace-up front, a gray and white cardigan sweater, a blue and black check belted tunic, a pair of olive leggings, a cuff bracelet, a delicate necklace, and a pair of beautiful dangle earrings.

Did I Keep It?

Yes! I was immediately draw to the floral lace-up top and wore it the next day! I absolutely love that shirt, and think it will become a go-to this season. I also love the earrings, they’re different than anything else I have, and I love the delicate details. The tunic is different than anything else I have, but I love wearing plaids and I also love tops that make leggings as pants acceptable, so that one is also a win for me. The gray and white open cardigan isn’t something that seems super exciting, but it’s really flattering on and a perfect basic for when I want something comfortable that still looks cute. I wore the necklace and really love it, I have been very into delicate pieces and love the bit of blue in the necklace to bring out my blue eyes. I don’t wear bracelets or watches as often in the winter because my arms are almost always covered in layers (brrr, Michigan is cold!), but I think the bracelet will be *perfect* for dressing up tanks and tees in the summer.

My Outfit

This month I received a black sweater, a faux fur infinity scarf, a choker necklace, a pair of earrings, and a pair of blue jegging style pants that I ended up returning due to size.

Did I Keep It?

This was the first Nadine West box where I did *not* keep everything I received. I ended up returning the pants because they did not fit me. Returning items to Nadine West is very easy to do, and I did ask if exchanges were possible and it seems that they are often out of stock of the items after they send them out, but  it doesn’t hurt to ask : ) I love the faux fur scarf, it was a style I had been admiring on others, and I have worn it many times since opening my box. I also wore the sweater immediately, and I have gotten a lot of compliments on it. The choker is the one item I am a bit on the fence with, I like choker style necklaces but this isn’t my favorite. I actually love the black, but I may end up removing the circle charm. I was surprised when I saw how long the earrings were, especially because I tend to be a studs girl, but I absolutely LOVE the way they look on!

JUST FAB REVIEW | IS IT WORTH IT? ARE THE SHOES COMFORTABLE?

January 10, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

I love shoes, and I like to have high quality, investment pairs of winter boots, athletic shoes, a classic heel, and of course my favorite UGG Slippers (priorities, people!). However, I love trying out shoes for different events, or explore a new trend, without clutching my pearls. My favorite places to get inexpensive boots is Target or JustFab, and my favorite place to get inexpensive heels is JustFab, so today I want to share my thoughts on the company JustFab.

What Is JustFab?

JustFab is a website that is a part of the ShoeDazzle, Fabletics, and FabKids family, where you join and take a style quiz, have access to exclusive discounts, and receive free shipping and exchanges.

How Does It Work?

Once becoming a VIP member you can opt each month to “skip” the month or pick out a pair of shoes! If you do not “skip” the month by the 5th of every month, you will be charged $39 which can be used as a credit for a new pair of shoes.

My Experience

I joined because I kept seeing ads and thinking the shoes were so adorable for the price! I have been a member for years now, and I overall really enjoy JustFab. In order to not get charged I spend about 10 minutes every six months to put into the calendar on my phone “Skip JustFab” on the first of the month. I have had a few “whoops” months where I don’t skip, but I have just saved the credit for occasions such as birthdays where I want a new pair of shoes.

Why I love It?

I have had so many cute pairs of shoes, and people often compliment my shoes or ask where they are from. I love that I can get cute shoes (see some of my past posts showcasing them here , here, and here) for an affordable price. I have had at least 10 pairs of shoes from JustFab over the past several years, and while some aren’t incredibly comfortable, I have also purchased boots that I wear on a nearly daily basis during the fall and winter months with zero pain. I also find the review on the JustFab site to be very helpful. My latest pair of shoes from just fab, a faux suede black bootie with gorgeous detail embroidery, is shown above.

What I DON’T Love

I haven’t canceled, but I have heard it can be a bit of a hassle, because obviously they don’t want you to cancel. If you have had that experience, definitely let myself and anyone else reading know about it in the comments.

Have you tried JustFab? What has your experience been like?

KENNETH COLE UNLISTED | AFFORDABLE MEN’S STYLE BROWN OXFORDS

January 1, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday AND Happy 2018!

I hope that your new year is off to a wonderful start! I love the fresh start of a new day, new week, new months, but a new year? It is really the best! If you have any resolutions or goals for the year, please feel free to leave a comment letting me know what you’re up to! I want to continue to bring you a blog every Monday and Wednesday without missing (regardless of holiday or other occasion!).

While LeahTackles is a beauty blog, I enjoy occasionally sharing some style favorites, and today I want to share a favorite men’s style piece that will help any guy in your life walk into the new year (see what I did there?!) looking like a gentlemen.

Stephan, my husband, loves the look of men’s oxfords, particularly the very on trend brown men’s oxford, but the prices of some of them are simply out-of-reach for us. I bought Stephan a pair of Kennth Cole Unlisted brown men’s oxfords for Christmas, and he has loved them so far! I realize the quality won’t be what a very high end pair of leather shoes may be, but I consider these to be a fun way for him to try different styles, much like my favorite shoes from JustFab or Target.

CLOTHING SUBSCRIPTION BOX | NADINE WEST CLOTHING SUBSCRIPTION REVIEW

My Outfit

This month I received an infinity scarf, a top, a necklace, and a pair of earrings with a total value of $70.

Did I Keep It?

YES! I was so excited when I opened up my package this month and saw the infinity scarf that I put it on immediately and have worn it nearly every day (zero exaggeration) since then. The shirt is so beautiful on, and I don’t have very much red in my closest, but this shade is perfect for the Christmas season! The shirt has a mock turtle neck and a nice stretchy fabric that looks a bit dressy, but is easy and comfortable to wear. The jeans I styled with this shirt are a mid-rise jean and works well with the v slit styling of the top. The earrings are not earrings I would typically wear, but I styled them with a side braid (think Elsa from Frozen) and loved the way they completed the look. The necklace is right up my alley, but I prefer it with a shirt that isn’t that turtle neck or high neck style.

Have you tried any fashion boxes like this? Have you tried Nadine West? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

NADINE WEST REVIEW AND STYLING | CLOTHING SUBSCRIPTION

November 27, 2017 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I hope that you are having a great week! A few months ago I did my first review of Nadine West, a clothing subscription box. A few weeks ago Nadine West reached out to me again and sent me this box for my consideration for review but I was not paid to write this post and as always all opinions are my own.

My Outfit

Did I Keep It?

YES! I absolutely LOVE the sweater, that is right up my alley and one of my favorite colors to wear. I also really love the stud earrings, they’re stunning on and didn’t seem to irritate my ears when I wore them most of Thanksgiving day. I also really love the bracelet, it is so unique and looks gorgeous stacked with my favorite watch of the moment. The necklace isn’t something I would have picked, and I probably won’t wear it often, but I did think it looked pretty with the long sweater. Funny enough, the necklace is my daughters favorite thing out of the whole outfit and has already borrowed it : ) The white shirt I considered returning, it is VERY small and fitted, so while it looked nice on I felt like I was having to tug it down/hold it in at first until I got used to the fit.

AFFORDABLE STOCKING STUFFER GIFTS FOR HER | $30 & UNDER

November 22, 2017 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

I hope that you are ready to spend tomorrow with your loved ones this weekend! After Thursday, we will all be in full-on shopping mode before the holidays, and so today I wanted to share affordable stocking stuffer ideas for yourself or any lady on your list. I, of course, picked beauty items but also included some other things that I think will be fantastic in a stocking. I think stockings are such a fun thing to shop for, because who doesn’t love opening up little goodies hand selected just for you? I think everyone should get a stocking, or two, each year! I also love these ideas because you can purchase them all in your pajamas from your laptop.

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lip Set

I love Bit Beauty lipsticks, and this set of four of their liquid lipsticks is so tiny it can rest in the palm of your hand, and is oh-so adorable! These liquid lipsticks are a satin finish that gives the lips a pretty fullness. These do not dry down completely. This is a fantastic way to try out the formula and several shades.

Naked Basics Palette

The Naked Basics and Naked Basics 2 are both palettes that I reach for a lot and think are perfect are a very giftable makeup item because these neutral matte shades flatter any age and most skin tones.

e.l.f. Small Stipple Brush

This brush is a MUST-HAVE for me! This is perfect for liquid or cream bronzer, highlighters, or blushes. I like this inexpensive brush more than higher end stipple brushes for cream face products because it is the perfect size and doesn’t shed.

Roller Ball Fragrance

I love having roller ball perfumes for tossing into my handbag and for traveling.

Hask Monoi Oil Nourishing Deep Conditioner Packs

Haircare is so important but splurging on deep conditioners is something that people skip because it isn’t a “need”, so getting a high-quality deep conditioner is a great idea for a stocking stuffer that any woman would love.

Glass Nail File

After using a glass nail file I will NEVER go back to a regular nail file! Glass nail files are wonderful because the grit is perfect for getting super smooth nails, and you can use them in a back and forth motion for faster nail care. I also love that these are sanitary, easy to clean, and I have used the same one for years without needing to replace it.

Pop Socket

This is such a handy thing to have, and it makes it so much easier to film with your phone, take selfies, and watch videos without having to awkwardly prop up your phone.

Tempered Glass Screen Protector

I swear by these! I have cracked these because of dropping my phone (don’t tell my husband, but I drop my phone a lot…) but have  avoided cracking the phone glass because I use these.

Tech Gloves

Have you ever been standing outside and wanted to check your email or wanted to snap a picture but had to pull off your glove? Me too, and these gloves make it so much easier because you can keep you glove on. No gloves will be as easy as using your phone or device without gloves, but these make it possible to do a few things on your touch-screen without having your hand bare in the elements.

Viva Sol Mini Bean Bag Game

I can’t resist a great novelty item at Christmas time, and I just picture this being great for laughs with family and friends at Christmastime.

Christmas Novelty Socks

I think Christmas socks are a fun thing to tuck inside stockings, and something that even the most straight-laced gal can enjoy at least at home on Christmas morning. I LOVE fun socks!

Fine Chocolates

I love good chocolate, and a stocking isn’t complete without a treat! I don’t think I would share these chocolate covered oreos 😉

Gourmet Gummies

I got the idea to include gourmet or “adult gummies” if you will from the YouTube channel Pretty Neat Living and I think it is genius! Champagne flavored candy? Sign me up!

Do you get a stocking every year? Have you put together stockings for your loved ones? Stockings shouldn’t be just for little ones, I think everyone deserves a little Christmas wonder!

Thank you, as always, for reading! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and a successful start to your holiday shopping! xx
