I’ve recently been watching a lot of dermatology YouTube content and I recently watched a video by Doctorly reviewing the viral Bubble Skincare and when they said the Bubble Deep Dive AHA-PHA Exfoliating Mask was one of their top products not just in Bubble Skincare’s range but of all products they’d tried in a calendar year? I decided to give it a try.

What are AHAs? AHAs are a type of exfoliating acid known as alpha-hydroxy acids

What are BHAs? PHAs (poly-hydroxy acids) are chemical exfoliants. They belong to a group of acids with a larger molecular size than AHAs (alpha-hydroxy acids) and BHAs (beta-hydroxy acids). Therefore, they penetrate less deeply into the epidermis and are more suitable for sensitive skin or skin conditions.

The Bubble Skincare line is largely targeted to Gen Z, and I love that they’re offering an affordable skincare line for the younger set who is looking for a comprehensive skincare line. The AHA-PHA mask jumped out to me because it sounds similar to the Drunk Elephant Sukari Baby Facial but at a fraction of the price and the Doctorly video said they could easily see the same product in fancier packaging going for $100.

I use the Bubble Dive AHA-PHA Exfoliating mask once each week during my evening skincare routine. I apply it to clean skin and leave it on for 10-15 minutes before applying a moisturizer.

I love this product! The price is right, the packaging is cute and functional, and it’s a great drugstore price point but a quality skincare item.

Peach & Lily Matcha Pudding Cream | Does it work for combo skin?

Hi there! Happy Monday! Today is a big day. I try a lot of products that I receive in PR but most don’t stick around too long because I have my basics locked in (affordable and dependable) but the Peach & Lily Matcha Pudding Cream has become such a game-changer for me that I will be keeping it in my evening skincare moisturizer rotation.

I use this in the evening because I have combo skin. I do get oily in my t-zone but I use tretinoin, and hyaluronic acids in my evening skincare so I do tend to need a good moisturizer to combat the dryness those can cause. The consistency of this is unique, feels like pudding in this light, soft, fluffy way, and it feels special to use which I love. I think the price-point is fair and for me a small amount goes a long way. This has made my skin noticeably brighter, and less red.

I was offered the chance to review Luv Your Skin and jumped at the chance because my daughter is almost 13 and very into skincare.

We received The Essentials by Luv Your Skin bundle which included Scrub Off Pure Bamboo Facial Scrub, Take Off Gentle Facial Wash, and Calm Down Soothing Face Moisturizer. My daughter and I both tried all of the products. My favorite and the standout of the three to me was the Bamboo Facial Scrub. I love the Essentials set for my daughter because they are made from natural ingredients and are gentle on her young, sensitive skin.

Scrub Off Pure Bamboo Facial Scrub

This feels so good, and gentle but you get that nice invigorating clean feeling.

Bamboo Powder, Cocoa Butter, and Plantolin® gently scrub away dry, dead skin cells, restoring an even skin tone for naturally softer, clearer, and glowing skin.

Take Off Gentle Facial Wash

This is great because it gently removes makeup. My daughter uses this after her micellar water.

I am very consistent with my skincare routine and spend a lot of time researching products. Lenoir Skincare contacted me and asked if I would like to try some of their products, and I immediately knew I was interested in their Vitamin C Serum and Hyuluronic Acid Serum. They also sent me their Vitamin C Cleanser which was a surprise and a treat because I typically don’t spend a lot on cleansers and stick to drugstore goodies.

Lenoir Vitamin C Cleanser

A foaming facial cleanser that has Vitamin C, Botanicals, and Raspberry Seed Oil. The product description states that this cleanser will not strip the skin of its natural balance but help visibly improve the appearance of skin clarity, texture, and tone, leaving your skin feeling extremely clean.

I love that this vitamin has three different forms of stable Vitamin C along with Hyaluronic Acid and Rosehip Seed Oil. I appreciate that it is fragrance and essential oil-free.

Leah Tackles Turns 10! | What now?

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I turn 37 tomorrow and 10 years ago tomorrow I started this blog. Because of this blog, I’ve had opportunities and then began YouTube, and then that led to becoming a social media manager, and now I’m a social media strategist and account manager. I still love this blog, I don’t get it much energy, but I am SO DARN PROUD I’ve never missed a week. I have practiced writing every. single. week for a decade. Little Leah would be proud. Will I keep writing? For now, yes. But I plan to allow myself the freedom to post when I feel called to, when I receive a PR product that I think is worth sharing, or when I have something that I’d share with my girlfriends.

My No-Buy/Low-Buy Year-End Update and Results

At the beginning of 2023 I did a blog post about My No-Buy/Low Buy For 2023 and today it’s time to pay the piper and talk openly about how I did.

My No-Buy/Low-Buy Rules

This is what I posted in January 2023.

I will not be buying clothes. I will not be buying any makeup that isn’t replacing things like eyeliner, mascara, and concealer. I will not be buying skincare that isn’t replacing my basic skincare. I will not be buying any shoes. I am allowing myself to use gift cards or store credits. I have given myself one item/month, but I hope not to use this.

How Did I Do?

I did fall off the wagon a bit at the end of the year and bought some clothes. I could rationalize them by saying they’re gifts that my husband will give me for Christmas, and it wasn’t more than 3-4 items, but I definitely wasn’t as on my game as I was the first half of the year. I did not buy any skincare beyond replacing what had run out. I did not buy any shoes, and in fact in 2024 I will be allowing myself to buy running shoes because I am in desperate need. If I use the “one item/month” I did quite well overall and even if I didn’t meet my goal, I was very close to it because most other things were gifts/gift card items.

How Do I Feel?

I did a post on contentment and I did realize that when I get overwhelmed or have something triggering happen, I want the quick feel better excitement of buying something.

Will I Repeat My No-Buy/Low-Buy?

YES! I will also continue to share my journey.
