NADINE WEST REVIEW 2018 | AFFORDABLE CLOTHING SUBSCRIPTION BOX

September 26, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

How is your week going? What is something you are grateful for right now? I’ll start ; ) I am exhausted, and I am grateful for cozy fall clothing.   I have shared my outfits from Nadine West before on my blog (read the posts here) I have been wearing some items from my last several boxes a lot lately, so I was so excited to receive a new box in the mail from them.  Nadine West sent me this box for my consideration for review but I was not paid to write this post and as always all opinions are my own.

What is Nadine West?

NadineWest.com is a company that sends you an outfit to try on and you keep only what you love. The outfit is a surprise, but you take a style quiz and the stylists get to know your style more each month. The outfits are affordable with pieces costing about $10-$30 each, which is very affordable compared to other similar services.

How Does It Work?

On the Nadine West website, you take the style quiz so that the stylist can get to know what you are looking for in an outfit. You will receive a pink package in the mail with your personalized outfit. Try on the outfit and keep what you love and send back what you don’t.

My Thoughts

The style quiz was super easy to do, which was great because I wanted something that didn’t take too much time but I was still able to make notes to make sure the stylist knew my preferences. I really loved the surprise aspect of this, and it was like opening up a girly gift from a really stylish friend. I cannot stand having to return things, it is such a bummer, but I LOVE the way this company does it because your outfit comes with return shipping.

Discount Code

Use the referral code “Nadine” on NadineWest.com (not an affiliate code for me, just sharing the one they currently have on their website) to waive your shipping fee which means you’ll get your outfit in the mail without paying anything!

What Did I Get?

This month I received a pair of gold dangle earrings with a pearl, a layered gold necklace, a set of gold bracelets with charm details, a white floral kimono, a long open faced navy duster, a dusty purple sweater with a crisscross detail, and a burgundy pair of leggings with a crisscross detail.

Did I Keep It?

I was so much happier with this box than last months box! I love simple delicate jewelry and the thin gold chain with the pearl is right up my alley. The gold necklace isn’t something that I would have picked, but I actually love the way it looks on! The bracelets are something that I will likely save for a giveaway on my LeahTacklesBeauty Instagram or pass on to a friend, but they are pretty and I like that they can be worn together or alone. I am into neutrals, but I love the kimono style and think that this is a piece I will enjoy having in my wardrobe. I LOVE the dusty purple sweater, it is super soft and stretchy and looks really cute with mid or high rise jeans. The super long navy duster is completely my style and I put it on as soon as I opened the package up. My little loves did say that the long navy duster made me look like a wizard (which I think was a compliment, probably?! Haha) but my husband really liked it. The burgundy leggings are super comfortable and have a crisscross detail on the sides of the legs from ankle to knee. I like to do a “yoga test” with my leggings, but I haven’t done that with these yet to see if they are too thin, but they seem to be very stretchy. I am keeping everything and I am very excited about my new pieces for fall!

Final Thoughts

I love getting my Nadine West box each month! Each month I get a few things that I love, but I do wish that there was a simple form to update style preferences or check-in each month to see what I’d like to find in my box. I really loved this box and hope that I will continue to get neutral pieces that fit my style and delicate jewelry that works with my sense of style.

Have you tried any fashion boxes like this? Have you tried Nadine West? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

FORMULATE CO REVIEW | FIRST IMPRESSIONS | PERSONALIZED HAIRCARE

September 19, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

Do you remember a couple of months ago when I spilled the beans on an amazing haircare launch I am a part of called Formulate Co? If not, you can read that post here, but I have been SO EXCITED to receive my very own personalized shampoo and conditioner from Formulate Co, and it’s finally here!

What Is Formulate Co?

Formulate Co is personalized haircare products perfectly engineered for you! You fill out a form that asks questions such as your hair type, hair struggles, hair goals, geographical location/climate, heat usage, scalp health, scent preferences and sensitivities, and more! Does your shampoo or conditioner do that? Formulate Co is made in the lab JUST. FOR. YOU! It is so cool, and I am thrilled to share it with you! I have EARLY ACCESS CODES available (but only a couple, so PM me on my @LeahTacklesBeauty Instagram or Facebook quick!) to use before the launch is available to the masses.

First, let’s take a second to check out the amazing attention to detail and stunning packaging…

Now, some quick info about Formulate Co and how it works (because I know your time is precious and I truly appreciate you reading!)…

First Impressions

The packaging is SO CHIC and I love the way I feel when I use something that is clean, sophisticated, and elegant because it makes me feel like I am those things, too, even if my shower has a little hair clogging the drain, my mirror has fingerprints from my kids all over it, and my shower isn’t the oasis I dream it someday will be. Also, this smells SO GOOD and it is so cool that the fragrance level is totally up to you, your preferences, and your sensitivities. I have only used the shampoo and conditioner once so far, but I found that they lathered well and my hair looked very healthy afterward. I can’t wait to continue to use these and update you in the coming weeks…eeeek!

Do you have more questions? Let me know in the comments and STAY TUNED for more information. You can also find more info here.

Have a fab weekend! xx

IRIS Beauty Colored Contact Review | Corrective and Cosmetic

September 17, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I hope that you are having a great Monday so far! I hope you are having the least Monday-iest Monday ever ; ) Until a few days ago I had never worn a contact in my life and because I do not wear glasses I hadn’t considered wearing them. I knew that you could wear contacts that were nonprescription, but I have always liked my eye color and didn’t think it would be worth the hassle. I was contacted by IRIS Beauty and almost turned down the opportunity to try out some colored contacts for my consideration for review, but decided that I would risk jabbing myself in the eye to give you the low-down on the IRIS Beauty contacts (you’re welcome). Today I will share my thoughts on Iris Beauty Colored Contacts Cosmetic Lenses.

Natural Looking Colors

Composed of several layers, our unique patterned technology enables the lens to block the original color of the iris, giving you a completely fresh look. The safety of your eyes is preserved thanks to the printed layer of the lens being embedded inside two external non-printed layers. You can look for competitors but none have reached this phase of contact technology.

Corrective AND Cosmetic

All IRIS Beauty lenses are available with or without Rx. Iris Beauty lenses cover Myopia from -0.25 to -6. The lenses are also available in a cosmetic version (Plano). All Iris Beauty lenses have the same metrics: base curve 8,6mm & diameter 14,2mm. Iris Beauty lenses are safe to use for daily wear for 6 months after opening.

FDA Approved Quality

IRIS Beauty lenses are designed to provide all-day comfort and sharp vision. The color patterns of the lenses have specific metrics that preserve your sight and give a natural look. They’re made to exacting standards in the manufacturing partner’s state-of-the-art facility, which has been following ophthalmologist’s requirements for more than twenty years.

Made in the United States

All of the lenses are made in the USA by a family-owned business. They have worked for decades with US ophthalmologists selling private label contacts. Iris Beauty can offer you high-quality products that were previously only available from your ophthalmologist’s office.

My Thoughts

I am going to be straight with you (as always!)…at the first attempt I was like “Nope, nope, NOPE!” because if I don’t need to blink awkwardly, eyes watering, why would I?! But I actually LOVED the way these looked. I thought it would take me a really long time to get them in, but it actually only took a couple of tries. I totally watched a YouTube tutorial with a 12 year old sharing her tips, and to her credit, it helped. I don’t think these will ever become a staple in my beauty routine but I am now not against the idea of wearing them every once in a while for a great costume or makeup look. They are beautiful and I am sure I would get used to the feeling quickly. My eyes were not irritated at all after using them, though they did water a lot.  I will say that these were not uncomfortable once I got them in, and while I can’t speak to the corrective contact wearers out there I did look up the reviews and people with much more contact lens experience than I have seemed to enjoy these. I love that they’re an affordable price-point and are available online.

Shop

Be sure to use the code LEAH15 to save 15% off all of your products. I am interested in trying the magnetic lashes! The website has a lot of great information and beautiful lens options.

Have you tried colored contacts? Do you have a favorite contact brand or contact color? Do you wear glasses? Be sure to drop a comment to let us know! Have a fantastic week, babe! xx

HONESTLY MARGO REVIEW | A TEENAGE CEO WITH A VISION

September 12, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

We did it! We are halfway to the weekend! I wanted to let you guys know that my new shirt will be available until September 22nd ONLY! Go to Small World Shirts Co to shop!  I have been doing my makeup at 5 a.m and when it’s that early I like something super simple! I have been reaching for my Revolution X The Emily Edit The Needs every single day and using my new go-to gloss from Honestly Margo that I want to share with you today.

About the Brand Honestly Margo

Honestly Margo is a bath and beauty brand, with its core beliefs and principles being “Inspired by Nature & You”.  It is a mother-daughter team that has a really fun story! You can hear from Margo and her mother in a video here. The scents and flavors are paraben free. They have a ton of cute bath products and I know my daughter would LOVE their Unicorn Line!

Honestly Margo Roller Gloss

I love the roller gloss because it is the finishing touch on the days when I don’t want lip color but need a little something. I love this gloss because it doesn’t feel sticky or like I’m going to get goop all over my Little Loves if I give them a smooch, but it wears a respectable amount of time. It also smells really good while I’m applying it.

Do you wear lip gloss? For a long time, I have been a lip balm or lipstick girl, but this gloss is so nice on the rushed early mornings! Have a fabulous weekend! xx

FIRST AID BEAUTY BENDY AVOCADO CONCEALER REVIEW | CONCEALER THAT STAYS PUT AND DOESN’T CREASE!

September 10, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

Coffee clinks to a fabulous week ahead! Are you doing anything fun? Exciting? Challenging? Let us know! It is a Monday, and on Monday’s probably on more than any other day of the week I need a great undereye concealer. I am so excited to share a new concealer that is completely changing the game for me!

Product Claims

This is a flexible second-skin concealer that has buildable coverage that feels weightless on the skin. The Bendy Avocado Concealer is made with superfood avocado to help nourish and hydrate the skin.

About First Aid Beauty

First Aid Beauty provides everyday essentials and targeted skincare solutions that deliver immediate relief, lasting results and feel-good textures. Their products are formulated with only clean, skin-loving ingredients. They carefully select ingredients so you don’t have to worry about what’s in (and not in) your skincare products. There are over 1,300 ingredients on FAB’s no-no list, including artificial colorants and artificial fragrances, ethanol, ethyl alcohol, denatured alcohol, methanol, n-butyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, sd alcohol, lanolin, propylene glycol, mineral oil, petrolatum, formaldehydes, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, triclosan, triclocarban, and talc.

My Thoughts

The texture of this concealer is unique and has hit the sweet spot for me inbetween a thick concealer (think Tarte Shape Tape Concealer) and a liquidy concealer (like Estée Lauder Double Wear Waterproof Concealer). It goes on the skin beautifully and feels hydrating enough to not feel dry or cakey, but not so hydrating that it feels oily on my combo/oily skin. I was impressed that I could build this up where I needed it on the inner corner of my eye and it still blended in like a dream. I really can’t see where ths product is vs. my own skin. I was able to use this concealer to cover my dark circles and to correct redness and blemishes. The shade range is unimpressive, and unfortunately I’ve found that to be a common issue when companies that are primarily skincare branch out and do makeup. I hope that in the future First Aid Beauty will give the Bendy Avocado Concealer a better shade range, because it really is a fantastic concealer that has become my new favorite. This concealer wears all day long and doesn’t settle into any fine lines and doesn’t crease or look cakey even after hours of wear! I am so impressed by this concealer.

My Routine

After priming my skin and putting on foundation I apply the Bendy Avocado Concealer to my under eye and any other areas that need more coverage than the foundation was able to provide. I like to provide the Bendy Avocado Concealer with a damp Beauty Blender Micro Mini Sponge. I wear this concealer with both powder and liquid foundations and it wears well with both. I set my undereye concelaer with a loose powder like the Coty Airsun Loose Face Powder or a pressed powder like Makeup Revolution Kindness from Revolution X The Emily Edit The Needs.

Shop

Do you have dark circles? Have you found a concealer that gives fantastic coverage AND doesn’t settle into lines or get cakey? Will you be trying the First Aid Beauty Bendy Avocado Concealer? If you do, please let us know what you think in the comments! Have a great week! Be bold! Have fun! SMILE! xx

TONY MOLY MASTER LAB INTENSIVE BRIGHTENING VITAMIN C MASK REVIEW

September 5, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

I hope you are doing well and feeling grateful this week! I am sending you coffee clinks because we have made it to mid-week (Which is so easy on holiday weeks, isn’t it?!). It’s no secret on this blog that I LOVE single use face masks, and I think I have found a new favorite vitamin C mask for my sleep-deprived self that I can’t wait to share with you!

About the Mask

The Tony Moly Master Lab Vitamin C Brightening Mask is a water type consistency and makes skin healthy by providing radiance and nourishment. It uses the nude seal fabric which is a new material made of natural cellulose with silky soft texture and an excellent absorption and adherence function better than cotton  so it will adhere to skin and effectively deliver active ingredients to make it healthy by providing radiance and nourishment.

Why I Love It

I have combo/oily skin but when I am sleep-deprived (when am I not?!) my skin can look dull and tired. I don’t have hyper pigmentation, but I can have some unevenness. The mask packaging was very wet and it was a bit messy to unfold the mask but I did find that this sheet mask did stay pretty well on my skin-a big bonus for me since I never seem to find time to relax while masking. Thie Tony Moly Master Lab Vitamin C Brightening Mask felt very soothing on my skin and had a very refreshing smell. I noticed immediately that my skin looked brighter, and more youthful. I have been using this mask whenever I need a little skin pick-me-up, but I think I will be adding it into my routine on a more consistent once/week basis because I love the fresh-faced look it gives my skin.

My Routine

After removing makeup I use this mask for about 20 minutes and then cleanse and do my regular skincare routine.

EMILY NOEL PALETTE REVIEW AND TUTORIAL | MAKEUP REVOLUTION X THE EMILY EDIT

September 3, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday! And, if you’re in the U.S.A, Happy Labor Day!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend and, hopefully, are enjoying a great day off today with family!

I have been a follower of the beauty community on YouTube nearly a decade, and a consistent watcher for over six years (you may even remember before I niched my YouTube channel to Disney I dabbled in beauty content myself). I love many creators in the beauty space on YouTube, but the one I feel the most connected to, the one I put the most trust in, and the one who I believe is in it for only the best reasons, it is without any hesitation EmilyNoel83. I watched Emily (a.k.a Beauty Broadcast) announce this collaboration and I cried. I am so happy to be sharing a tutorial using The Needs Face & Eye Palette.

About the Palette

If there’s one palette you need, it’s this one! Revolution x The Emily Edit – The Needs Face & Eye Palette is a full-face palette created by content creator Emily Noel, aka Beauty Broadcast. Emily said: “The Needs is like the greatest hits of the brand… I’ve not seen Revolution do anything like this before and I thought it was something that was really called for… they’ve created so many great palettes, so let’s make the greatest hits from them all. This is what this is, in full face style.” A multi-tasking palette full of positivity, featuring personal shade names that mean something to Emily: “I wanted every color to have an identity.” The Needs is encased in pale pink packaging with Emily’s signature in a beautiful rose gold.

Shades

  • Courage (medium brown, bronzer and contour shade, matte finish)
  • Joy (peachy pink blush, matte finish)
  • Gratitude (creamy highlight, satin finish)
  • Kindness (cream translucent powder, matte finish) (Emily likes to use it as an under-eye powder)
  • Honesty (blush peach, satin finish)
  • Passion (dark brown, with a red shimmer)
  • Peace (peachy nude, matte finish)
  • Faith (warm brown, matte finish)
  • Hope (fudge brown, matte finish)
  • Love (cream matte finish)

My Thoughts

I knew I was going to love this palette because I really do just trust Emily that much. Emily could have collaborated with countless brands, and I adore her even more for picking a quality company that is a price-point that is accessible to everyone. This palette is so functional, and I know that I’ll be using it constantly. I think it’s fantastic for travel or for days when you need a quick no grab and you’re done out-the-door flawlessly palette. I love that this has enough eyeshadows to make a basic look or a more dramatic look without getting bored, and a beautiful bronzer that works great for contouring as well. I love the blush because it works with any eye look, and the highlighter has a beautiful sheen without being glittery. I think this palette would be fantastic for friends who aren’t sure what to buy, what goes together, or where to start with makeup. I think this will be one of my most recommended makeup items now and I am thrilled it isn’t limited edition.

NADINE WEST REVIEW | AFFORDABLE CLOTHING SUBSCRIPTION BOX

August 29, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

I hope that you are having a wonderful week so far : )  I have shared my outfits from Nadine West before on my blog (read the posts here) I have been wearing some items from my last several boxes a lot lately, so I was so excited to receive a new box in the mail from them.

What Did I Get?

This month I received a turquoise tunic length t-shirt, a navy floral shirt, black cropped jeggings, chevron floral shorts, a pair of gold hoop earrings, gold bangle bracelets, and a silver and gold antler necklace.

Did I Keep It?

Unfortunately, overall this box really wasn’t my style. The turquoise shirt is a really pretty color, and I’ll probably like it next spring and summer especially over leggings on comfy days, the navy floral shirt is definitely something I’ll wear, but it’s SUPER fitted and I probably will not reach for it as much because of that. The black jegging crops will look nice with loose fitting tops as the weather cools down, but they aren’t something I would have picked myself. The chevron floral shorts are SO cute, my daughter loves them, and they’re very comfortable but they’re a much busier pattern then I gravitate to. The highlight of this box was absolutely the jewelry! I love the gold earrings and unique hoops are very on trend for fall 2018 style. The gold bangles are heavy, and I have so many similar, but they aren’t bad. I LOVE the antler necklace! It reminds the Disney Nerd in me of Gaston so I love them even more. I kept it and plan to pass on the items I don’t love to friends who I think will look amazing in them!

Final Thoughts

I love getting my Nadine West box each month! Each month I get a few things that I love, but I do wish that there was a simple form to update style preferences or check-in each month to see what I’d like to find in my box. I was on a fantastic streak the past couple of boxes, so I was a bit bummed to not see some great neutral basics for fall, but I still enjoy checking out the box each month.

Have you tried any fashion boxes like this? Have you tried Nadine West? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

5 EASY HAIRSTYLES FOR BUSY MOMS | FEATURING KITSCH

August 27, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I hope that you had a great weekend! I am back from our mini getaway and am feeling the pressure of the back-to-school hustle and schedule craziness. I am the kind of woman who gets ready every day ( read more about *why* I do that here) but I am going to share a secret with you…a couple of years ago I walked my daughter into her first day of kindergarten in my favorite I-wear-every-second-I-am-home-even-in-the-summer Ugg Slippers. YUP, it happened. So, because I know that I am going to be busy turning my three Little Loves into Gap models in the mornings, I will be needing a quick routine for myself. Today I want to share 5 easy hairstyles for busy moms featuring some of my favorite hair accessories from Kitsch.

Why I Love Kitsch Hair Accessories

Kitsch hair accessories are typically around $8-15 depending on the accessory, but my big tip is always go to the clearance aisles at Ulta because they almost always have a ton of super cute Kitsch hair accessories for a lot less! I have been able to snag Kitsch Hair Cuffs and Hair Ties for as much as 50% off ( I even left some clearance pictures off some of my favorites so you could see).

Pretty Bobby Pin

I like to pull a few pieces of hair off my face and use these pretty pearl Kitsch bobby pins to give it a little extra style. *Tip: I do find that the Kitsch embellished bobby pins can be a little harder to open (they’re more heavy duty than regular cheapo bobby pins), so I sometimes use a regular bobby pin first and then cover it with a pretty one from Kitsch.

Bun Comb

I shared a post last fall called How-To Do a Cute Messy Bun Featuring Kitsch and it is still one of my favorite ways to make a 1 minute hairstyle look like you tried and give it a more “done” look.

Ponytail Cuff

On days when I just want a ponytail with my hair pulled out of my face, I love using this Marble Pony Cuff to give my hair a sleek and sophisticated ponytail. It is such a classy and chic look and the perfect quick hairstyle.

Bow Hair Ties

Look at your wrist, is there a hair tie around on your wrist?! Is it a pretty one?  I absolutely love these Bow Hair Ties from Kitsch because they look like a pretty bracelet and I like having one of these on my wrist when I wear my hair down because if I’m outside at a soccer game or on the walk with the Little Loves and want to get my hair off of my face. These hair ties are so beautiful and look so much better than a regular hairstyle on your arm.

Hair Coils

If you have a lot of hair like me and it ever gives you a headache to have it in a pony all day or you don’t want to put kinks in your hair (I hate doing this and then ruining my second-day hair!) I like having hair coils like these Kitsch Clear Hair Coils to pull my hair back. I don’t think these feel as tight and secure as regular hair ties (I wouldn’t run a marathon in them) and they take time to get used to looks wise, but I do like having these when I need my hair back.

The Creme Shop Cucumber Face Mask | The Best Eye Mask For Dull Puffy Eyes

August 22, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

I hope you are having a fantastic week! Now that summer is coming to a close, lots of activities and events for the kids are popping back onto our schedule, and I have been finding myself ready to relax in the evenings. I share face masks a lot because I use them a lot, and I think they’re the perfect way to take care of your skin and pamper yourself on a budget.

About The Creme Shop

The Creme Shop is a U.S brand but they do the manufacturing of some of their products in Korea. Korea is known for being a leader in the skincare game, particularly masks.

Product Claims

This mask targets puffy eyes, tired eyes, redness, and dull skin. The mask is done in a beautiful masquerade printed mask. The embellished sheet mask hugs every corner to nourish the skin. The Creme Shop Cucumber Mask is infused with fresh cucumber extract, and this mask depuffs and soothes eyes for instant rejuvenation.

My Thoughts

I typically don’t suffer from puffiness with my eyes, but I have very dark circles and dullness around my eyes. I absolutely LOVE the print of this mask, and while it may be a gimmick I don’t mind one bit! I think this would be so much fun to wear for a girls-night-in and my Little Loves got a kick out of mom rocking a printed mask (my daughter thought I looked like a peacock and one of my boys said I looked like The Incredible Hulk?!) One thing I noticed immediately was that even though the mask was very saturated it felt sturdy enough that I could unfold it from the packaging without it ripping. The mask felt incredibly cooling upon application and it really did fit the contours around my eyes and nose very well. The mask didn’t slip off and I always test this because I constantly am walking around with face masks on, just ask my hubster ; ) When I took the mask off my skin felt refreshed and my complexion around my eyes definitely looked even and less red.  I would definitely use this mask again, and I think it is one of the best eye sheet masks I have used yet!

Have you used this face mask? What is your favorite sheet mask? What is your favorite eye mask? Let us know! Thank you for reading! xx
