COLOURPOP COSMETICS HAUL & HOW TO APPLY!

April 25, 2016 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

If you’ve been following my Instagram you know that I’ve been doing some fun new makeup hauls lately and today I want to share one of my new favorite and affordable brands!

About ColourPop Cosmetics:

ColourPop Cosmetics are a Los Angeles based makeup company that is available exclusively on their website. ColourPop also does not test on our animal friends! Yay! ColourPop is famous for their Super Shock Shadows which is a creme-powder formula that is nothing like anything I’ve tried before! Do you have a M.A.C Paint Pot or a Maybelline Color Tattoo? It isn’t like that. Do you have any regular powder eye shadows? It isn’t like that, either! The SuperShock shadows come in so many stunning finishes including matte, metallic, pearlized, glitter, and satin! They also have very popular lip products and face products.

How To Apply Super Shock Eye Shadows:

To get the best application you should apply these eye shadows with your finger! I like to sweep a shadow for a little something-something into my crease with a brush, and then press a bit of one of my ColourPop Super Shock Shadows onto my lip for gorgeous shimmer! You can use a blending brush if you need to blend out any harsh lines after applying shadows with your fingers. If you don’t want to use your fingers, you can use a synthetic makeup brush. I suggest using a synthetic brush that is densely packed because that will imitate your finger better than a fluffy brush.

What I Bought:

*Note: Colors listed follow pictures from left to right : )

Super Shock Shadow in Nillionaire

This is a STUNNING warm bronze metallic I’ve been loving it in my crease!

Super Shock Shadow in Alchemy

This is a gorgeous glitter sheer that I’ve been packing on my lid almost daily since I bought it! I love that it’s a peachy shade with tons of shimmery glittery goodness! I have put a little bit of a brown red color, like Flutes which I talk about later in this post, in my crease blended out and then packed this onto my lids and people keep asking me what it is! It’s the easiest look ever, and it’s stunning!

Super Shock Shadow in Vanity Fair

This is a cool toned shadow is a beautiful taupe silver with a pearlized finish! I love this color and I don’t have anything else like it.

Super Shock Shadow in Flutes

This matte shadow is the perfect muddy red brown that for some reason reminds me of mustard and looks incredible on anyone’s crease! This shadow is from the Spring 2016 collection and I have already been using it a lot.

colourpop-lippiestix-lippiepencil-leahtackles.jpeg

Lippie Pencil in Lyin’ King

This is a gorgeous raspberry pink that goes well with so many lipticks! I do have to say the cap has to be pressed on pretty hard, to the point where I feel like I’m going to smash the pencil, but so far I haven’t ; )

Lippie Stix in Crumpet

This is a cream lip stick in a bright pink! This is perfect for spring and if you’re scared of a true coral lip color, I think this is a great way to go to get you a hint of coral without quite so much warm orange.

Do you own any ColourPop Products? Let me know in the comments! I can’t wait to add to my collection!

AFFORDABLE MAKEUP BRAND REVIEW! 2B COLOURS

March 21, 2016 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I am super excited to be bringing you a fun, affordable, and cruelty free makeup brand. I hadn’t heard of 2B Colours until my friend, Ciera, talked about them on her YouTube channel and blog. Shortly after hearing about them 2B reached out to me and offered to send me a few items for consideration and review. I have had the makeup items for a couple of weeks and feel that now I have had the chance to use all of the products and test them out to provide good and honest reviews. I also was sent a set of Nail Art Pens, so stay tuned for a review on that soon! And wish me luck ; )

2B Cosmetics Makeup Reviews

Concealer Corrector Waterproof in 01 Peach

I wasn’t really sure what I would think of this when I saw the pen form, but I really have been enjoying it. The peach color works great for covering under eye circles, but I am careful when applying it so I’m not dragging it on my delicate eye area skin. I also LOVE this for targeting small imperfections or blemishes! I do find that it can be tricky to blend, but I just use my finger or a damp beauty sponge like the Beauty Blender. I would purchase this.

Cheek Pop Blush Powder in 04 Kissed By a Rose

This is my absolute favorite item that 2B sent me!! I want to try all of these blushes! This is SUPER pigmented! I was shocked and had to quickly blend it out because I was too heavy handed the first time I used it. This is gorgeous and it is very long wearing.

My Favorite Eye Color Eye Catcher in 01 White

I love the idea of having a white eye shadow on hand to use before applying other eye shadows so that the other shadows are exactly true to color, but I am not crazy about the texture of this shadow. I do think it works well for making other colors pop, and a small dab of it on the center of each eye lid makes the eyes pop as well, but this is my least favorite product in the bunch. I will keep you posted incase anything changes, but I wouldn’t purchase this.

Mascara in Mega Prune

I remember when I was in middle school and colored mascara was super popular! I think blue was the favorite color that year ; ) I normally wear only black mascara, but this was a really fun change! I will keep wearing this, and the prune is just ever so slightly different than a brown or black mascara, and is perfect if you just want a tiny bit of color.

Eye Liner Long Wear Waterproof in 01 Black

I tested this out in my waterline and it wore SUPER well on me! I was shocked because so many eye liners disappear on me almost instantly. I don’t know if it is waterproof, but it definitely wore well on the waterline. I have not tried it on the upper lash line yet. I would purchase this.

Pop Up Lips in 01 My Own Ice Cream Bar

I love this! The lip crayon is super creamy, and it’s just a hit of color but a very pretty pink. This isn’t long wearing, but it’s a super low maintenance lip that is easy to reapply even with no mirror. I definitely would purchase and I’ll keep this in my purse.

Hydrastick in 07 Rose

This feels very nice on the lips. This works perfectly for a natural makeup day when you just want a little moisture or for putting on under a lipstick. I like that it has jojoba oil and UVA/UVB filter. I also like that it is shaped like a lipstick instead of flat on the top like most lip balm products.

Mega Colours Nail Polish in 022 Rich Lavender

When I first started applying this I was worried because the first coat was very sheer, but the second coat was pretty and I could have stopped there but I went for a third coat and it was so pigmented! I couldn’t believe the difference. I also applied this without a base coat or a top coat and it wore for a few days without chipping. I was very happy with this, and my four year old, Hailey, wants to wear this color on her nails next.

Social Media:

You can check out 2B on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter!

Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation First Impressions & Review

May 4, 2015 & 1 Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

Recently I’ve picked up so many fun makeup items and while I *love* hauling them for you, I thought it would be fun to share some first impressions and reviews on some of the products I’ve gotten one at a time as opposed to one big haul or swatch fest. I am hoping that going into a bit more detail is helpful and one at a time will be less overwhelming. If you have any requests of products you’d like my opinion on, please feel free to let me know! I want to give the people what they want as much as I can ; ) I also am planning to work some of these products into tutorials and real wear reviews on my YouTube channel as well, so be on the lookout for that!

Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation:

tarteamazonclayairbrushfoundation-review-leahtackles.jpeg

First Impression:

I was a bit nervous because I did order this online and thought that the color I ordered might not be right as it was described as being peach undertones and I always consider myself as pink undertones, but I went for it because there isn’t a pink undertones option in the lightest shade. So, thankfully upon first swatch “Fair Honey” for fair skin with peach undertones seems to be a good match. Beautiful packaging! And I love the netting that covers the foundation so it doesn’t get everywhere, but it’s soft netting so you can actually get it out by pressing your brush into it as opposed to having to dump some into the lid like I do with some loose powder products in my collection.

Application:

I was AMAZED at how little of this I needed! It’s a buildable full coverage foundation, and I love how natural it looks. I did find that the tip of my nose did get a bit shiny after several hours, but it was a warm day and I was fairly active. I love that it didn’t seem to break up on my skin, even on my nose where I was noticing some shine. I love that I was able to go back in a bit later in the day and add a little more to touch up. So far I am very impressed and think I’ll be wearing this a lot this summer!

Tarte Airbuki Bamboo Powder Foundation Brush:

leahtackles-tarteamazonclayfoundationbrush-review-leahtackles.jpeg

First Impression:

I love this! I have a pretty decent collection of makeup brushes, but I don’t have ANYTHING like this! It is SO densely packed! I am glad that I ordered this to try with the makeup.

Review:

Could I use the foundation without this and get good results? Yes, probably! I have other kabuki style brushes and Bare Minerals brushes, but I am very happy I ordered this. Just like when I ordered my Cover FX Contour Kit (mentioned in my High End Beauty Haul video) and I said that I opted to try the brush that is suggested to use with it, I thought that I might as well try the brush that is made specicially for this foundation so I could give the foundation its best shot. I know that sometimes I will dislike a foundation until I swich up my application method and then I end up really enjoying it. I am so far very happy with this brush, and how cute is it?! VERY cute!

So, I have only worn this foundation for one full day, but so far I am very happy. If you have any questions or comments, please let me know! I would also love to do a turoial using this foundation and brush on my YouTube channel, so let me know if you’re interested in that as well.

Thank you as always for being here! It means so much to me to have a bit of your time! Also, be sure to be on the lookout for a Tarte giveaway coming up soon!! xoxo

Too Faced Everything Nice Palette Review and Swatches!

November 19, 2014 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

Thank you for being here! It really does mean SO MUCH to me!! : )

Today I want to review the Too Faced Everything Nice Palette now before it is totally gone because it keeps selling out on Sephora.com BUT it is still avaliable in the Sephora stores I have gone to recently. It is also avaliable on eBay, but be careful that you don’t end up paying well over retail! Look for the deals! Also, sign up on the Sephora.com waitlist because it has restocked a couple of times so far : )

Last year Too Faced released the Favorite Things palette which was very similar but I didn’t snag that one, so this year I knew I wanted to pick this baby up ASAP and was able to do so during the Friends and Family sale! This is a limited edition palette for Holiday 2014 that comes with 20 eye shadows, 2 bronzers, 2 blushes, and 3 small brushes. It retails for $56 dollars.

REVIEW AND SWATCHES:

Packaging:

toofacedeverythingnicepalette.jpeg

toofaced-everythingnicepalette-leahtackles.jpeg

How cuuute is this packaging?! I absolutely love how girlie and festive this is!! I love the heavy cardboard style palettes because they wipe clean and are very durable. I think Too Faced does holiday packaging right! It is always oh so adorable! HOWEVER,  I think that the hot pink sparkly cosmetic bag is a lot of fun but I would have prefered something else…why? For one, the glitter is gorgeous but it does come off (remember those dresses in the early 2000’s that girls wore to homecoming? anyone?) which isn’t great for tossing in your purse or a suitcase, and the bag isn’t big enough to fit the palette! It LOOKS like the palette should fit, but it doesn’t fit : / I tried to demonstrate this in the pictures included in this post.

Eye Shadows:

toofacedeverythingniceeyeshadows.jpeg

These eye shadows are true Too Faced quality and absolutely STUNNING! Some of these shades are limited editon, but some can be found in other palettes from Too Faced. I love the way the rows are organized because it makes it easy to put together an eye shadow look with complimentary shades.

Row 1:

toofaced-everythingnice-swatches.jpeg

Turle Dove, Dream On, After Hours, Fawned of You, Knockout

Row 2:

toofacedverythingniceswatches.jpeg

Paper Roses, Kindess is Free, Mauvelous, Be You, Secret Lovers,

Row 3:

toofacedeverythingnice-eyeshadowswatches-leahtackles.jpeg

Heaven, Shiny Happy, Honey Pot, Don’t Settle, Girly

Row 4:

toofaced-everythingnice-eyeshadowswatches-leahtackles.jpeg

Totally Fetch, Live It Up, Too Glam, Head Over Heels, Chocolate Moon

Bronzers and Blushes:

toofaced-everythingnice-leahtackles-bronzers.jpeg

toofaced-everythingnice-faceswatches-leahtackles.jpeg

toofaced-everythingnice-leahtackles.jpeg

The blushes, Sweet Pink and Papa Don’t Peach are GORGEOUS! The bronzers, Chocolate Soleil a Too Faced cult favorite is gorgeous and great for contouring, and Inner Light is beautiful also but definitely a highlighter and not a bronzer! I love that they included a highlighter so that this really can be an all-in-one palette.

The Brushes and How-To Booklet:

The brush quality isn’t bad, they’re pretty soft, but I probably would only use these in a pinch or while traveling.  They are adorable though! How cute is that gold handle?! The booklet is really nice and helpful for creating looks! I am intimidated by some of these more bold or sparkly colors, so having some examples is really nice!!

Overall:

This is an AMAZING value! I think just for the eye shadows this would be fantastic, but having the blushes, bronzer, and highlighter make this such a steal!! I think this would be an especially great travel companion for those heading home (or away!) for the holidays!!

I hope that you have enjoyed this reveiw and be on the lookout for several more in the coming weeks!! I hope you all have a fabulous week! Please don’t forget to subscribe!! XOXO
