I’ve always had a soft spot for green dresses—it’s my favorite color, after all! So when I stumbled upon this gorgeous Camila Coelho dress on sale at Revolve, I couldn’t resist. What started as a personal wardrobe win turned into a little “Sisterhood of the Traveling Dress” moment. The dress has made its rounds—first with me, then to a friend, and soon it’ll be passed on to another.

What I love most about this dress is how versatile it is. Whether I’m pairing it with black boots and a coat for a winter day or transitioning it into spring here in the Midwest, it’s always the perfect fit. Plus, it shines in the fall too. Whether I’m dressing it up or keeping it more casual, it works either way. The soft cable-knit texture in a deep olive hue feels incredible against the skin, and the shape it gives my typically straight-up-and-down figure is amazing—definitely a confidence booster!

I have been using the Garnier SkinActive Micellar Water for years, but my teenager loves cleansing balm so when KimTrue offered to send me their KimTrue Skin Purifying Cleansing Balm to try, I was excited.

I love the texture of the cleansing balm and the way it breaks down the makeup. I do not find that it irritates my combo skin. I found that it was very good at removing even my waterproof mascara. I did not notice if this product provides brightening properties, but I do feel that the deep cleaning power alone is worth it. Get that grim out, gals!

I got a Mini Superfood Gentle Antioxidant Cleanser last month and I have been using it every evening after using my favorite micellar water I originally was using it because, well, it was free I am not really enjoying it and might repurchase it once it runs out.

I am very consistent with my skincare routine and spend a lot of time researching products. Lenoir Skincare contacted me and asked if I would like to try some of their products, and I immediately knew I was interested in their Vitamin C Serum and Hyuluronic Acid Serum. They also sent me their Vitamin C Cleanser which was a surprise and a treat because I typically don’t spend a lot on cleansers and stick to drugstore goodies.

At the beginning of 2023 I did a blog post about My No-Buy/Low Buy For 2023 and today it’s time to pay the piper and talk openly about how I did.

My No-Buy/Low-Buy Rules

This is what I posted in January 2023.

I will not be buying clothes. I will not be buying any makeup that isn’t replacing things like eyeliner, mascara, and concealer. I will not be buying skincare that isn’t replacing my basic skincare. I will not be buying any shoes. I am allowing myself to use gift cards or store credits. I have given myself one item/month, but I hope not to use this.

How Did I Do?

I did fall off the wagon a bit at the end of the year and bought some clothes. I could rationalize them by saying they’re gifts that my husband will give me for Christmas, and it wasn’t more than 3-4 items, but I definitely wasn’t as on my game as I was the first half of the year. I did not buy any skincare beyond replacing what had run out. I did not buy any shoes, and in fact in 2024 I will be allowing myself to buy running shoes because I am in desperate need. If I use the “one item/month” I did quite well overall and even if I didn’t meet my goal, I was very close to it because most other things were gifts/gift card items.

How Do I Feel?

I did a post on contentment and I did realize that when I get overwhelmed or have something triggering happen, I want the quick feel better excitement of buying something.

Will I Repeat My No-Buy/Low-Buy?

YES! I will also continue to share my journey.

Winter Boots From Walmart?! | Time and Tru Winter Boots Review

You will not believe the Time and Tru winter boots I found at Walmart! Last year I finally purchased a nice pair of Sorel Explorer Carnival II Boots and I wore them every day from November until May (that’s Northern MI for ya). When we packed up our home and made a large move this summer, a lot of things ended up in our storage unit and it’s packed so tight that nothing is coming out until we buy a home because it’s a literal hazard to try to get it out. I knew I needed something for this winter, but didn’t feel comfortable spending a lot since I know that I have a beautiful pair in storage. As a mom, you have to go from soccer camp to a meeting to (if you’re lucky) girls’ night and back home to make dinner and it can be hard to look pulled together since all of these things require a different wardrobe. Today I want to share my best tips for looking like I have it together as a mom, even when I don’t.

Create a Capsule Wardrobe

I started dressing in neutrals several years ago, and have been working overtime to be more conscious about what I’m buying. I began by grabbing things from Target and H&M, places I still love especially for basics, and now try to buy investment pieces as sustainably as possible. Having a capsule wardrobe means almost everything I have matches.

Plan Your Outfit the Night Before

I know, you’ve heard this before but it’s a GAMECHANGER! Each evening I think about what I’ll be doing the next day, what the weather is, and set out all of the clothes the night before. And I mean everything, including undergarments and socks. If I’m running I set out my running gear, and whatever outfit I’ll wear. If I need to change midday, I’ll grab those items too.
