TOPSY PIGTAIL HAIR TUTORIAL | EASY SUMMER HAIR 2018

July 2, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend : ) It has been HOT HOT HOT here and for me, that means I have been rocking a lot of buns, braids, and ponytails. I love the “topsy pigtail” that both my seven-year-old and I rock and today I want to show you how easy it is!

TOPSY PIGTAIL HAIR TUTORIAL

WHAT YOU NEED

A brush (shop my favorite brush here)

A comb (shop my favorite comb here)

Tiny hair elastics

HOW-TO

Part your hair down the back, following the part line from the top of your head down so that your hair ends up in two sections. Secure a small hair elastic on each side so that your hair ends up in pigtails. Once you have pigtails, go a couple inches down and fasten with another elastic and then separate the hair between the two elastics to create a hole in the center with hair on either side, then tuck the ponytail through the hole. I like to tighten the topsy tails by pulling at the hair in the remaining part of the ponytail before going a couple of more inches down and repeating until you reach the bottom of your hair. You can pull at the sections to make them messier and give them for volume.

AFFORDABLE HAIR MASK | HIP CHIC BLING BLING PONYTAIL HAIR MASK

June 6, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

It’s already the middle of the week–yay! Let me know in the comments if you have anything fun planned for this weekend : )

If you read this blog regularly you already know that I do face masks multiple days a week, but hair masks are something that I am just beginning to get into. Typically I’ll do an in-shower deep conditioning treatment once or twice a week, but I love this Hip Chic mask because it can be used on wet or dry hair which makes it easy for me to do quickly in the evenings without having to get my hair wet first. I have reviewed several of the Hip Chic products on my LeahTacklesBeauty Instagram.

Hip Chic Bling Bling Ponytail Hair Mask Claims

This mask is formulated with fortifying royal jelly, shea butter and a blend of golden oils and extracts including argan, olive, and bergamot. This lightweight ponytail hair mask improves dry, frizzy and damaged hair imparting intense nourishment and incredible shine in 20-30 minutes.

My Thoughts

One of my favorite things about face masks is how easy it is for me to work into my daily routine. I love face masks because typically in the evenings I will remove my makeup and then throw on a face mask to have a “mommy minute” before I start the bath, story, and bedtime routine with my Little Loves. I enjoy hair masks whenever I use them, but to be honest, once I am in the shower I often don’t want to mess around with applying a mask and waiting before rinsing it out, so I LOVE this mask because it’s a treat for my hair without the long process. I noticed that my hair felt very soft and was extremely smooth after using this mask. I will definitely be continuing to use this mask and I can’t wait to try more from Hip Chic because the price point is affordable and you can find these at Walmart so they’re accessible to everyone.

HOW-TO KEEP LONG AND COLOR TREATED HAIR HEALTHY

May 17, 2017 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

I have very long and color treated hair, and I get a lot of questions about how I keep my hair healthy, so today I want to share a few simple tips with you.

Don’t Wash Your Hair Every Day

This was a hard one for me years ago, but now I wash every other day or every couple of days. If you get greasy in the roots, or if you are an every single day hair washer, it can take time to get yourself AND your hair trained to skip a day, but it *will* even out! Skipping a day or two between shampooing will actually slow down the oil production and leave you with  healthier hair.

Befriend the Braid, Messy Bun, or Top Knot

I like to wear my hair in a braid or bun when I want to give my hair a day off from heat styling, or if I’m in a rush. I have been LOVING wearing my hair in a french crown braid that is perfect for summer and the gym! I got a lot of requests on Snapchat (@LeahTackles), which surprised me because it takes less than 5 minutes and isn’t fancy, but I ended up filming a talk-through style tutorial so you can copy the look.

Damage Remedy+ Coconut Miracle Oil OGX Shampoo Review

March 20, 2017 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday! And HAPPY SPRING!

A couple of weeks ago I shared my all-time favorite heat protectant to use before heat styling (read it here), which just happens to be a drugstore product, and I thought I would continue my Leah Tackles Hair series with another drugstore item that is new to my rotation, but is so far holding its own.

Damage Remedy + Coconut Miracle Oil OGX Shampoo

Why I Love It

First of all, I’ll admit that the packaging was very enticing to me and once I smelled it I immediately tossed this coconut scented shampoo into my shopping cart. This shampoo has a blend of coconut oil, tiare and vanilla bean extracts to help give hydration to my color treated and heat styled hair.

My Routine

I always go at least every other day, and sometimes I go two days before washing my hair and so I  usually end up washing my hair three times per week. I use this twice per week and a purple shampoo for blondes on the third washing day each week.
