Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow Review

October 14, 2019 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

The crisp fall breeze is in the air, a reminder of the approaching holiday season. I have been reaching for my Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow and think that it is the perfect gift for and makeup item to have in your beauty arsenal for festive holiday looks.

Stila Glitter & Glow Eye Shadow

This long-wearing sparkle eye shadow combines the mix of pearl and glitter to give your eyes incredible shimmer.  With its lightweight, water-infused texture, Glitter & Glow glides on effortlessly, then dries down smoothly, locking in sparkle with minimal fallout.

Why I Love It

I like to use the Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow to top off my eye looks, and adding just a bit to the center of the lid can create a gorgeous finishing touch to the look. I also love that I can use a few dabs of the liquid glitter on top of a shadow primer or base and I get a gorgeous look that is impressive looking but really only took a minute. These would be a wonderful gift and fits perfectly in a stocking. You can find them sold individually or in sets at Sephora, Ulta, or online.

My Routine

I use the doe foot applicator to dab it on the center of my lid when I am using the glitter as a finishing touch to an eye shadow look. When I am using the Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow for a quick eye look, I use an eye shadow primer or an eye shadow base like this one and then put the liquid glitter shadow on top and blend it with a synthetic eye shadow brush.

The Perfect Wedge Sneaker | Linea Paolo Wedge Bootie

June 3, 2019 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I have been loving the look of the wedge sneaker, and casually keeping my eyes out for a pair for the past year or so (clearly wasn’t in a rush, was I?) because when it comes to clothes I am picky and know exactly what I like. I went to The Haven Conference (one of the BEST experiences so far for me in 2019, want to join me for the next one? Click here!) and one of the speakers (Kerry, owner of Reset Brain + Body) was rocking blush wedge sneakers that were THE ONES so naturally, I asked her about them. Today I am going to share them with you.

Linea Paolo Felicia Wedge Bootie

My favorite thing about these Linea Paolo Wedge Sneakers is that they come in so many colors and materials! You can get them in 17 different colors and materials (suede, perforated suede, or perforated leather).

About the Felicia Wedge Bootie:

  • 2 1/2″ heel; 1/2″ platform
  • 3″ shaft
  • Side zip closure
  • Leather upper and lining/rubber sole

Linea Paolo Felicia Wedge Bootie Review

What made me fall in love with this wedge bootie by Linea Paolo is the perfect blend of a sporty sneaker and a chic, beautifully made wedge bootie that can be dressed up or down. The sole is sporty, which is a cool contrast to the rest of the shoe. I am a mother of three who works from home, so while I love heels I don’t wear them on a day-to-day, so a wedge is a great option.

I opted for black perforated leather and it is a gorgeous, soft leather that had that incredible leather smell as soon as I slipped them out of the box. I wore these walking around Chicago and for a presentation for The Rising Tide Society. I love that I can wear these casually with jeans, slouchy joggers, or leggings OR dress them up with trousers, leather pants, or a dress. I am completed in love with them. The price? A little more than I typically spend (Target, I’m looking at you, come out with your own version of these) but they’re so well-made and compliment generating that I think they’re worth it.

AFFORDABLE CLOTHING SUBSCRIPTION | NADINE WEST REVIEW

March 4, 2019 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I hope that you’re feeling energized and ready for a fresh, new week!  I have shared my outfits from Nadine West before on my blog (read the posts here). Nadine West sent me this box for my consideration for review but I was not paid to write this post and as always all opinions are my own.

What is Nadine West?

NadineWest.com is a company that sends you an outfit to try on and you keep only what you love. The outfit is a surprise, but you take a style quiz and the stylists get to know your style more each month. The outfits are affordable with pieces costing about $10-$30 each, which is very affordable compared to other similar services.

How Does It Work?

On the Nadine West website, you take the style quiz so that the stylist can get to know what you are looking for in an outfit. You will receive a pink package in the mail with your personalized outfit. Try on the outfit and keep what you love and send back what you don’t.

My Thoughts

The style quiz was super easy to do, which was great because I wanted something that didn’t take too much time but I was still able to make notes to make sure the stylist knew my preferences. I really loved the surprise aspect of this, and it was like opening up a girly gift from a really stylish friend. I cannot stand having to return things, it is such a bummer, but I LOVE the way this company does it because your outfit comes with return shipping.

Discount Code

Use the referral code “Nadine” on NadineWest.com (not an affiliate code for me, just sharing the one they currently have on their website) to waive your shipping fee which means you’ll get your outfit in the mail without paying anything!

What Did I Get?

This month I received a purple cold-shoulder sweater, an olive and white striped cold-shoulder top, a white top with beautiful lace detail, a pair of shiny purple leggings, a pair of plaid pants, a sky blue floral dress, a black pendant necklace, a pair of gold and silver hoops, and a gold bracelet.

Did I Keep It?

This month I only kept a couple of items. I love the material of the purple sweater, and it’s actually the same material and color as a sweater that I received in a Nadine West Box a few months back, but I am not into the cold-shoulder trend much anymore, so I’m not sure how often I’ll wear this. I love olive green and I love stripes, so I wish that it was a plain top and not cold-shoulder, because again I don’t think I’ll reach for it in my closet. The purple leggings are not workout leggings, but I think they’ll be nice to wear hanging around the house. I LOVE the dress so much, it is perfect for brunch or attending my daughters dance recital, but let me be real, real I was too cold to try it on! I love it though! So cute. I love plaid, and I think a neutral plaid pant would be super cute, but the plaid pants that came aren’t in my color palette and I don’t like the way they fit. I don’t care for the earrings or the bracelet this month, but the necklace is very cute and something I’ll wear often. Overall, this wasn’t a great month for me for Nadine West.

Final Thoughts

I love getting my Nadine West box each month! Most months I get a few things that I love, but I do wish that there was a simple form to update style preferences or check-in each month to see what I’d like to find in my box. I hope that I will continue to get neutral pieces that fit my style and delicate jewelry that works with my sense of style. I would love to see some simple maxi dresses for spring, too.

Have you tried any fashion boxes like this? Have you tried Nadine West? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

Have a wonderful rest of your week! I’ll be back here Wednesday, as always : )

Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes Volume 2 | The BEST Mascara I’ve Ever Used!

December 26, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

I hope you had a wonderful holiday with your loved ones! I hope you are still enjoying family time, and today I don’t want to take up too much of your time, but I am so excited to share a mascara I’ve been using for a few weeks that has been the BEST mascara I’ve used in my 15+ years wearing makeup. *Note: It was snowing beautiful, Hallmark Christmas Movie moment snowflakes when I took these pictures! It was magical!

About Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes Volume 2

Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes Volume 2 is a volumizing, thickening mascara with an instant Hollywood false lash effect. Legendary Lashes Volume 2 is a brand new reformulated mascara to give volumized lashes in a long-wear, smudge-proof, humidity-resistant formula that claims to increase volume by up to 507 percent after just one application. The intense jet black color will add the finishing touches to any eye makeup. This mascara claims you can create a wing lash, doll lash, or Hollywood-style false lash depending on how you apply. This mascara is made without parabens.

My Thoughts

I absolutely adore this mascara. I do not like when mascara looks spidery or clumpy, but I love having very dramatic, full and long lashes, and this mascara gives me that. I prefer mascaras that are more on the wet side, because I do not like the feeling of a dry mascara flaking off, and this is a very wet formula. Because this mascara gives the most volume and length I have ever seen in just one or two coats, I do have to be careful that I use a q-tip to fix where the lashes have touched my brow bone or eyelid. I absolutely LOVE this mascara and while it’s pricey, I am amazed at the difference this makes! This Charlotte Tilbury Mascara makes me want to try other Charlotte Tilbury makeup.

My Routine

I apply one coat of this mascara on my upper lashes, being careful near my inner eye so I don’t smudge, and then I have used this on my lower lashline, but some days it is too dramatic so I will actually use a less dramatic mascara on my lower lashes, and then I like to do another coat on the outside of my upper lashes to give a fluttery, false lash effect.

Lavender Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Chamomile, and Lavender | Review

December 17, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I hope that you feel wonderful and rested after the weekend! Today my daughter, who is seven-years-old, said: “On Monday’s I’m a blob” this morning and I laughed so hard. I hope that you are not a blob today ; ) With the colder weather and fabulous but also the stress-inducing holiday season here, I think it is the perfect time to share this Mario Badescu Facial Mist that I’ve been using for almost a year but haven’t shared on the blog before.

About Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe, Chamomile, and Lavender

The Mario Badescu rose and cucumber facial sprays are well known in the beauty space, and about a year ago the lavender spray was added to the lineup. The lavender spray features aloe which is hydrating for the skin, vitamin c which I am always raving about for its brightening properties, and lavender which is calming and soothing. This spray can be used before applying makeup, as a makeup setting spray, or to refresh your skin throughout the day.

Why I Love It

I like using this in the evening before bed to help me wind down for the night, and I also love using it during the day when my makeup looks a little cakey or needs a pick-me-up. I also have been known to take a “mommy minute” when my Little Loves are driving me crazy and go hide in my closet (yep, totally serious) to eat a piece of chocolate and spray my face to calm down. You know how when you’re stressed people suggest splashing water on your face? The Mario Badescu Lavender Facial Spray helps me get the same result without ruining my makeup.

My Routine

I use this the most often in the evenings just before bed, but I also enjoy it when I need a little skin refresh, especially when it’s dry in the cooler months, or when I feel like I need to sooth the stress away.

Beauty Gift Guide 2018 | Ulta Beauty

December 10, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I hope that you’re having a wonderful start to your week! If you’re like me and like to shop from your laptop (or phone!…) we are getting down to the wire when it comes to delivery before Christmas. Ulta has some great items this year and today I want to share a few of my favorites.

Revolution X The Emily Edit The Wants Eye Shadow Palette $20

I raved about the Revolution X The Emily Edit The Needs Palette and I have still been reaching for it a ton and traveling with it almost exclusively. The Wants Eye Shadow Palette is the perfect gift for any eyeshadow lover on your list, and although I haven’t tried it (yet!) myself, EmilyNoel83 is the beauty influencer on YouTube I trust the most.

Benefit Cosmetics Bomb Ass Brows! by Desi Perkins $59

This kit is on the pricier side, but it packs a TON of value! If you’re a fan of beauty influencer Desi Perkins or you’ve never heard of her, either way this kit comes with some of Benefit Cosmetics most popular brow products.

Includes:

  • Full-Size Precisely, My Brow Pencil Ultra-Fine Shape & Define Pencil (0.002 oz)
  • Full-Size Foolproof Brow Powder (0.07 oz)
  • Full-Size 24-HR Brow Setter (0.23 oz)
  • Full-Size High Brow Highlight & Lift Pencil (0.1 oz)
  • ka-BROW! Cream-Gel Brow Color Mini (0.05 oz)
  • Angled Brow Brush & Spoolie

Tarte Tartiest Pro Glow & Blush Palette $45

I adore my Tarte Tartiest Pro Glow Palette and often use it for contour, bronzer, highlight AND eye shadow for a quick look when I’m trying to get out the door in a hurry. I love that this version includes some gorgeous blush colors, and I’ve always had excellent luck with Tarte blushes in terms of wear-time and pigmentation.

Philosophy Snow Angel Shampoo, Shower Gel, & Bubble Bath $18

I love the Philosophy holiday scents! I am very (it’s getting obsessive, must avoid the copper like the plague! #blondeprobs) picky about what I use to wash my hair, but when it comes to shower gel or bubble bath? I tend to buy cheap stuff, which honestly is fine but at Christmastime, it’s nice to splurge on a festive item like this. The packaging is adorable, the Snow Angel scent is lovely, and the shimmery gel gets me in the holiday spirit. This is a great gift for any girl or women who you’re not sure what to buy, but what to treat to something for a little self-care.

Too Faced Gingerbread Girl Melted Matte Liquified Long-Wear Liquid Lipstick $21

The Too Faced Gingerbread Girl Melted Matte Liquified Long-Wear Lipstick is a limited edition lipstick (back for the second year in a row!) is part of the melted matte lipstick line from Too Faced. It has a yummy gingerbread scent and is formulated avocado oil and vitamin E. This is one of my favorite liquid lipstick lines, and the holiday colors are so much fun! A few years ago they released a gorgeous red that I wish would make a comeback.

BEST AFFORDABLE LIP SCRUB | e.l.f Lip Exfoliator

November 28, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

I hope that your week has been fantastic so far! The cold weather is here in Michigan (snow on the ground, folks!) and for me that always means changing up my beauty and skincare routine to prevent dry skin and chapped lips. The e.l.f Lip Exfoliator is so good and so affordable that I just had to share it with you. Bonus points? It would be a welcomed addition into any gals stocking or perfect tied to the top of a gift.

About the  e.l.f Lip Exfoliator

This lip exfoliator exfoliates the lips to remove dry, chapped skin. This exfoliator contains vitamin E, shea butter, avocado oil, grape oil, and jojoba oil which help nourish and protect your lips. This exfoliator gives the lips a conditioned feel.

My Thoughts

One of my best friends, and someone who doesn’t hold back her opinion when we chat beauty reviews (seriously, I should share our iMessages, but I won’t!) gifted me this exfoliator and so I was expecting good things. Also, EmilyNoel83 the woman on YouTube who I trust above anyone else is a huge fan of this product, so before I even used it I knew it had to be good! When you first open this product it will feel like a super moisturizing lip balm until you get a couple swipes in and you feel the exfoliating sugar scrub. I love that I can swipe this on without dipping my fingers into a jar because that isn’t the most sanitary and often times I will skip the scrubs like that simply because I don’t want to get it all over my fingers or under my nails. I love this scrub so much and will be using it as a regular part of my skincare routine.

My Routine

I like to use this before I wash my face each morning by doing a few swipes of the e.l.f Lip Exfoliator in Coconut over my lips and then wiping off the excess with a damp washcloth or small piece of paper towel. I like to use this before my face cleanser because then if any of the scrub got onto the skin around my lips I can wash it off so it doesn’t irritate my skin. I have been using this every morning and if you’re a lipstick girl? This is a MUST HAVE item! I truly can’t believe this is a $3 product! I have lip scrubs that have cost more than five times that amount (!) and I don’t like them as well.

Shop

What is your favorite e.l.f product? Please let us know in the comments! Have a great weekend! xx

NADINE WEST REVIEW | AFFORDABLE MONTHLY STYLE BOX

November 21, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

I hope that you’re as excited for a short week as I am!!  I have shared my outfits from Nadine West before on my blog (read the posts here) I have been wearing some items from my last several boxes a lot lately, so I was so excited to receive a new box in the mail from them.

What Did I Get?

This month I received a tee shirt style dress with frayed ends, an orange/red shirt, a black open faced cotton cardigan shirt,  a pair of gray leggings with side details, a pair of purple leggings, a black fringe necklace, and a gold and black bracelet.

Did I Keep It?

Unfortunately, I didn’t like most of the items that I got this month. I do love the purple leggings because they are super cozy and will be great for lounging around or workouts, and the black open faced shirt is a great basic that goes with everything. The necklace is beautiful, and the bracelet is a great delicate piece, but I didn’t have a “wow” item that I loved this month.

Final Thoughts

I love getting my Nadine West box each month! Most months I get a few things that I love, but I do wish that there was a simple form to update style preferences or check-in each month to see what I’d like to find in my box. I really loved this box and hope that I will continue to get neutral pieces that fit my style and delicate jewelry that works with my sense of style.

Have you tried any fashion boxes like this? Have you tried Nadine West? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving! xx

SEPHORA BLACK FRIDAY DEALS | AFFORDABLE BEAUTY STOCKING STUFFERS

November 19, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I hope that you are having a wonderful Monday so far! I went shopping this weekend and you can tell that the holiday season is upon us because WOW it was busy! So busy, in fact, that it made me confirm my plans to do Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping in my pajamas on the couch with coffee (or wine) in hand avoiding the crowds. This year, Sephora has a preview of some of their deals on their app and I want to share the items that clicking on to add to my basket.

*Note: I can’t link the Black Friday deals because they are not live yet, but get ready to go on Black Friday! Here is a link to Sephora.

Purity Made Simple Cleanser by Philosophy $15 ($30 value)

Purity is one of my all-time favorite cleansers, and it’s best to buy it on QVC or when they have it on sale at Sephora or Ulta. I will buy this over and over! I love it as a gift because it’s a fantastic cleanser for any age or skin type.

Buxom Party of Two Lip & Mascara Set $12 ($30 value)

I love Buxom lip glosses for the days when I want something low maintenance and comfortable to wear. I love this kit from Buxom because it would work well for a young teen who is just getting into makeup all the way up to mature woman who knows what she likes.

Play! By Sephora Play! Smarts: Skincare By Age 30s $15 ($47 value)

They have a 40s version of this kit as well and if you have a mom, aunt, sister, or friend in your life who loves trying high-end skincare, I think this is a great option.

Peter Thomas Roth Hyaluronic Happy Hour $15 ($30 value)

Peter Thomas Roth kits are some of my favorites to snag! When I see “hyaluronic” along with the Peter Thomas Roth name? Yes, please! Peter Thomas Roth often has mask kits which are fantastic, so keep an eye out for those too!

Clarisonic Radiant Skin Stocking Stuffer

I am a big fan of the Clarisonic, and this kit is one to watch for yourself or someone in your life who you know uses one too.

Play! By Sephora Play! Smarts: Superfoods: Feed Your Face $15 ($44 value)

Again, if you’re a skincare fantastic or know one, this kit could be a fun one to scoop up!

Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast $15 ($29 value)

I love the brand Living Proof, but it’s very pricey, so I usually don’t splurge, but this is a great deal for a Living Proof product.

Sephora Collection In The Blink of an Eye Eyeshadow Palette $5 ($9 value)

This isn’t an expensive item at the full price, but I think it would be super cute in a stocking, especially for someone just starting out with makeup who doesn’t have a lot of palettes or makeup yet.

These two sets are not part of the Black Friday deals, but they are two that I am absolutely snagging for myself and my husband! These are useful, a great value, and packaged perfectly to toss into a stocking!

Drunk Elephant Night Bright Duo $28 ($43 value)

Drunk Elephant Out of Office $25 ($33 value)

Drunk Elephant Rise + Glow $22 ($30 value)

Drunk Elephant is a phenomenal skincare company that I find comparable to my beloved Sunday Riley, but it’s very expensive! I think these kits are a great way to try out some of their highly reviewed, beloved favorites.

Sunday Riley Cleanse & Detox AHA/BHA Kit $45 ($76 value)

This gift feels so luxurious and the products inside deliver! I would be thrilled to recieve this.

Jack Black Shave Essentials $25 ($43 value)

This kit is fantastic for guys, especially those who take shaving seriously OR who have chronic red stubble syndrome (COUGHmysweethubsCOUGH).

Clinique For Men Starter Kits $14.50

This kit is perfect for any man who actually thinks that 3-in-1 products or a bar of soap qualify as a “skincare routine” ; )

Have you started shopping yet? Have you finished shopping? Let me know! Have a wonderful week and a Happy Thanksgiving if you’re here in the United States : ) xx

CHEAP SELF-TANNING LOTION | OCEAN POTION EVER GLOW SELF-TANNING LOTION REVIEW

November 12, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

The title of today’s blog post isn’t as polished as I typically like, and using the word cheap does make me cringe a little on the inside because cheap can mean a low price-point OR a low-quality. But, I used the word cheap over the word affordable because as a consumer when I hear affordable it really doesn’t always mean too much, because everyone has their own version of what is or is not an affordable price, but when I hear cheap? I know exactly what that means. When I use google to look for something I will type in “cheap” over affordable and the product I’m sharing with you today is cheap in price.

About Ocean Potion Ever Glow Self-Tanning Lotion

This lotion claims that it will give your skin a sun-kissed glow with daily use and moisturizes to extend the life of your tan, and reduce peeling. Ocean Potion Ever Glow is free of alcohol, parabens, propylene glycol, gluten, phthalate, BPA, BHT, and does not test on animals.

My Thoughts

I like using sunless tanners all year long, and I often mix my favorite sunless tanner with lotion, so I was excited to find a very inexpensive self-tanning lotion. This color is extremely light and subtle, but I think it’s great for the winter months when I just want a little hint of color so that my skin has a bit of glow. I do notice that if you use it a few days in a row that it will build the color up slightly, but don’t find that it gets to as deep a color as a true sunless tanner.  I love that I can rub this in quickly like a regular body lotion right after I get out of the shower and I don’t have to worry as much about waiting until it dries to dress or about color transferring on my clothes or sheets. I wouldn’t use this before a big event where I wanted a dramatic difference, but I will continue to use this as body lotion that gives me just the tiniest bit of color. *Tip: Amazon does have good deals on it from time-to-time, but it’s always cheap cheap at Walmart ; )

Shop

Do you use a sunless tanner? Do you use a self-tanning lotion? Do you mix your own? Let us know in the comments! Have a wonderful week! xx
