Why I Only Wear Neutrals

March 22, 2021 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I wear neutrals almost exclusively. White, black, beige, gray, navy, denim, and I also consider blush and olive in the neutral category. I do not wear patterns or florals, but I do wear stripes, leopard print, plaid (buffalo check and gingham), and the occasional polka dot. But, why? Do I hate all colors? No, not at all…let me explain.

Why I Only Wear Neutrals

I love clothes, and if you could hear me in a store? “Cute. Cute. Cute! That’s cute”. But I hated not haven’t a definite style. In high school I wore the typical Abercrombie, Hollister, and American Eagle garb that was popular amongst high schoolers at the time. In college my wardrobe bounced around a lot, until I got a job at Abercrombie where we wore “core colors”. I LOVED it. What do I wear today? Navy, gray, or white. In my mid-twenties, now no longer working for Abercrombie, I bounced around and just bought whatever I thought was “cute” but didn’t really know what my style was. It was then that I decided to start figuring out more clearly what I liked, what I wanted my style to say to the world, and how to build a capsule wardrobe.

I went through my closet and pulled out anything I could sell or donate. I still do this every few months.

I now only buy neutral colors and it is a GAME CHANGER.

Why I Love Neutrals

  • Versatile
  • Timeless
  • Looks high-end (especially black. Black faux leather, black blazers even if inexpensive, look luxe)
  • You can invest (I haven’t done a lot of this yet, but if I spend $$$ on a classic piece that I’ll have forever that’s way better than on something trendy or that I won’t like in 2 years)
  • It’s so much easier to shop. I get to ignore 75% of every store or clothing section.
  • You can repeat and mix-and-match outfits easily (Once you get pictures in a floral dress, it’s far harder to repeat, no?)

Nadine West Unboxing |Review

June 8, 2020 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

Have you ever wondered how a clothing subscription box works? Nadine West offers an affordable style subscription service.

Before we dig in, a little housekeeping, I now offer social media coaching as well as social media management.

I have shared my outfits from Nadine West for two years now on my blog (read the posts here). Nadine West sent me this box for my consideration for review but I was not paid to write this post and as always all opinions are my own.

What is Nadine West?

NadineWest.com is a company that sends you an outfit to try on and you keep only what you love. The outfit is a surprise, but you take a style quiz and the stylists get to know your style more each month. The outfits are affordable with pieces costing about $10-$30 each, which is very affordable compared to other similar services.

How Does Nadine West Work?

On the Nadine West website, you take the style quiz so that the stylist can get to know what you are looking for in an outfit. You will receive a pink package in the mail with your personalized outfit. Try on the outfit and keep what you love and send back what you don’t.

My Thoughts On Nadine West

The style quiz was super easy to do, which was great because I wanted something that didn’t take too much time but I was still able to make notes to make sure the stylist knew my preferences. I really loved the surprise aspect of this, and it was like opening up a girly gift from a really stylish friend. I cannot stand having to return things, it is such a bummer, but I LOVE the way this company does it because your outfit comes with return shipping.

Nadine West Coupon Code

Use the referral code “Nadine” on NadineWest.com (not an affiliate code for me, just sharing the one they currently have on their website) to waive your shipping fee which means you’ll get your outfit in the mail without paying anything!

Nadine West Unboxing

I got a dress that is almost like an oversized men’s shirt, and while it wasn’t awful on I won’t be keeping it and found it too short. I got a navy top with exaggerated puffy sleeves and faux buttons down the front that I like and will be keeping. I also received a pair of black joggers that can easily be dressed up or down.

Nadine West Final Thoughts

I love getting my Nadine West box each month! Most months I get a few things that I love, but I do wish that there was a simple form to update style preferences or check-in each month to see what I’d like to find in my box. I hope that I will continue to get neutral pieces that fit my style and delicate jewelry that works with my sense of style. I would love to see some simple, neutral-colored maxi dresses for spring, too. I would rather receive two or three nicer items than a lot of pieces that aren’t as nice of quality.

Have you tried any fashion boxes like this? Have you tried Nadine West? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

Have a wonderful rest of your week! Thank you for reading! xx

2Toms SportShield® Review | Chafing and Blister Prevention

September 16, 2019 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

This summer I was doing a lot of high-mileage running in humid weather and realized that I needed to find something to prevent blisters and make sure I didn’t have any chafing issues. I have found a product that I love and use for running as well as for events where I will be in blister-prone footwear.

About 2Toms SportShield®

SportShield liquid roll-on (also available in convenient towelettes) creates a thin, invisible coating to the skin. This coating greatly minimizes the friction that causes blisters, chafing and irritation. It can be used on any part of the body where the skin is subjected to chafing by clothing and equipment pressure points.

SportShield won’t melt away and lasts up to 24 hours. SportShield performs with you under the most grueling conditions and will not rub off. It claims to even work under wetsuits! It’s silicone-based and is non-staining, non-toxic, non-greasy and can be used daily. It contains no animal products.

Available In Convenient Travel Size2Toms SportShield travel size
Travel size SportShield packets fit easily into pockets, tool kits, backpacks, equipment bags, purses and more. Each packet contains a SportShield towelette.

Great For Chafe-prone Areas Including:
• Between the arms and sides of the body
• Between upper thighs
• Groin area
• Over nipples
• Around the back of heels
• Tops of toes

SportShield is good for you and also good for the environment. SportShield is a silicone-based anti-chafe product. It contains no animal products.

Why I Love 2Toms SportShield®

I wanted a product that I could put on the tops of my toes and along with other pressure points, including where my sports bra straps cross. I found this product at a running store that I trust, and love that the roll-on style isn’t messy, and dries quickly so I can put it on without a hassle when I am getting ready to head out for a run. I let the product dry for a minute or two before putting on my socks and gear, and that seems to be adequate I do not notice any scent and love that it isn’t a hassle to remove and doesn’t stain my clothes. I plan to purchase some of the towelettes to use for long runs and also to stash in my purse for nights out where I am wearing heels or shoes that I consider blister-inducing.

Shop 2Toms SportShield®

Have you tried anything to prevent blisters, chafing, or sweat? Let us know in the comments below. I still love my Blister Block and use this trick to prevent boob sweat.

SEPHORA BLACK FRIDAY DEALS | AFFORDABLE BEAUTY STOCKING STUFFERS

November 19, 2018 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I hope that you are having a wonderful Monday so far! I went shopping this weekend and you can tell that the holiday season is upon us because WOW it was busy! So busy, in fact, that it made me confirm my plans to do Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping in my pajamas on the couch with coffee (or wine) in hand avoiding the crowds. This year, Sephora has a preview of some of their deals on their app and I want to share the items that clicking on to add to my basket.

*Note: I can’t link the Black Friday deals because they are not live yet, but get ready to go on Black Friday! Here is a link to Sephora.

Purity Made Simple Cleanser by Philosophy $15 ($30 value)

Purity is one of my all-time favorite cleansers, and it’s best to buy it on QVC or when they have it on sale at Sephora or Ulta. I will buy this over and over! I love it as a gift because it’s a fantastic cleanser for any age or skin type.

Buxom Party of Two Lip & Mascara Set $12 ($30 value)

I love Buxom lip glosses for the days when I want something low maintenance and comfortable to wear. I love this kit from Buxom because it would work well for a young teen who is just getting into makeup all the way up to mature woman who knows what she likes.

Play! By Sephora Play! Smarts: Skincare By Age 30s $15 ($47 value)

They have a 40s version of this kit as well and if you have a mom, aunt, sister, or friend in your life who loves trying high-end skincare, I think this is a great option.

Peter Thomas Roth Hyaluronic Happy Hour $15 ($30 value)

Peter Thomas Roth kits are some of my favorites to snag! When I see “hyaluronic” along with the Peter Thomas Roth name? Yes, please! Peter Thomas Roth often has mask kits which are fantastic, so keep an eye out for those too!

Clarisonic Radiant Skin Stocking Stuffer

I am a big fan of the Clarisonic, and this kit is one to watch for yourself or someone in your life who you know uses one too.

Play! By Sephora Play! Smarts: Superfoods: Feed Your Face $15 ($44 value)

Again, if you’re a skincare fantastic or know one, this kit could be a fun one to scoop up!

Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast $15 ($29 value)

I love the brand Living Proof, but it’s very pricey, so I usually don’t splurge, but this is a great deal for a Living Proof product.

Sephora Collection In The Blink of an Eye Eyeshadow Palette $5 ($9 value)

This isn’t an expensive item at the full price, but I think it would be super cute in a stocking, especially for someone just starting out with makeup who doesn’t have a lot of palettes or makeup yet.

These two sets are not part of the Black Friday deals, but they are two that I am absolutely snagging for myself and my husband! These are useful, a great value, and packaged perfectly to toss into a stocking!

Drunk Elephant Night Bright Duo $28 ($43 value)

Drunk Elephant Out of Office $25 ($33 value)

Drunk Elephant Rise + Glow $22 ($30 value)

Drunk Elephant is a phenomenal skincare company that I find comparable to my beloved Sunday Riley, but it’s very expensive! I think these kits are a great way to try out some of their highly reviewed, beloved favorites.

Sunday Riley Cleanse & Detox AHA/BHA Kit $45 ($76 value)

This gift feels so luxurious and the products inside deliver! I would be thrilled to recieve this.

Jack Black Shave Essentials $25 ($43 value)

This kit is fantastic for guys, especially those who take shaving seriously OR who have chronic red stubble syndrome (COUGHmysweethubsCOUGH).

Clinique For Men Starter Kits $14.50

This kit is perfect for any man who actually thinks that 3-in-1 products or a bar of soap qualify as a “skincare routine” ; )

Have you started shopping yet? Have you finished shopping? Let me know! Have a wonderful week and a Happy Thanksgiving if you’re here in the United States : ) xx

Are You Taking Advantage of These Walt Disney World Planning Secrets?

September 23, 2015 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

If you watch my families Daily Vlog Channel then it is no surprise that we LOVE Disney and are over-the-top excited to be heading there in a couple of months. No matter what your plans are for a Disney vacation, it’s Disney so it’s going to be magical, but today I want to share 5 things that I’ve learned about while planning for our big trip that are HUGELY helpful! These tips will give your trip an extra magical edge, a step up from just the basic, easy to come across information.

1. Disney Dining Buddy

In my post called 5 Things To Do BEFORE You Book Your Disney Vacation, I mentioned that dining needs to happen 180 days prior to your trip, which seems intense but even then some reservations are nearly impossible to get! I desperately wanted the Be Our Guest dinner reservation, but finding that for a party of 9 was just not possible even at 6a.m on our 180 day mark. Luckily, I had done my research and found out about “sniper services” that you pay not to book your reservation but to text and/or email alert you if the reservation you want becomes available. The cost is $8/reservation, and while it doesn’t promise that you’ll get an alert, it scans constantly and saves you from spending precious time on the website or the app. Time is money, people ; ) I have a few requests out that I haven’t booked yet, so I can keep you posted, but I got the most coveted Be Our Guest dinner, and couldn’t be more excited! *Note: There are other “sniper services” out there, but I’ve put a lot of time into checking them out, and this one seems to be the fastest for alerts and has the highest success rate.

*EDIT: Disney Dining Buddy has shut down! You can try Disney Dining Scout.

2. Facebook Planning Groups

No matter when your trip is, I am sure there is a Facebook group waiting for you to join! Most groups are by month, so for example you could search “Walt Disney World March 2016 Planning Group” and find something. They have these for cruises, too. This group is like my lifeline lately, any question I have? BAM! Someone, or several people, have an answer or idea. Plus, it’s a fun way to get excited for your trip!

3. Touring Plans

I’ve been to Disney world before, but not in years, and never with 3 little loves of my own, so even though I had a million drafts of each days itinerary I was lost. Then came Touring Plans and the app to go along with it, Lines. You can use some features of the site for free or pay $12 for customized touring plans that optimize your schedule, you can schedule in breaks, change your plans and update, get real wait times, manage your reservations, and more. Yes, you get MyDisneyExperiecne for free, but this helps you make a plan with a map that is realistic, in an order of the park that makes sense, and in a way that fits your needs.

4. WDW Dining App

This is an awesome way to familiarize yourself with all of the dining options in all 4 of the parks, at the resorts, at Disney Springs (formerly Downtown Disney), both water parks, and all the resorts. This lists where the restaurant is located, average price range, type of food, a little about the resturant,  and if they are quick service (walk-up) or table service (sit-down). And honestly I love to just get excited about all the delish food that we can enjoy!

5. CharacterLocator.com

This is the perfect guide for telling you where the characters are located and what times. This is awesome for planning your character interactions and knowing where to look for your kids (or your!) favorites. It has great information such as tips for when to line up for the shortest wait, and what characters don’t sign autographs. I would totally get photos with the characters even if I didn’t have kids  : )

If you’re a Disney lover like me, please share your tips! If you found this post helpful, fun, interesting, or amazing, please share! All of my social media share buttons are at the bottom of every post to make it super easy : )

5 Things To Do BEFORE You Book Your Disney Vacation!!

June 22, 2015 & Leave a Comment

Hi there! Happy Monday!

Right now my family is planning a big DISNEY vacation and we couldn’t be more excited! I am constantly talking and thinking Disney! I want to do a blog series here, as well as a video series on my YouTube Channel on our planning process, tips, packing, custom outfits, and so much more.

Today I want to talk the very basics, things that you can to before you even book your trip, to make sure you take advantage of all that Disney has to offer, and get your money’s worth! I will go into more details on these things in another post if people are interested : )

1. On Property or Off Property

The first thing I suggest is deciding if you want to stay on Disney property or off. *Personally* I think staying on property, while much more expensive at first glance, really evens out once you factor in food. Also, you are completely immersed in the magic. And, you have extra perks like Disney’s Magical Express, the monorail, and the bus. But, perhaps the biggest perk draw for me is that you get FIRST DIBS on dining and fast passes!!!

2. Dining Books 180 Days In Advance

When considering when to book your trip, keep in mind that you can make reservations at 180 days out…yes that’s SIX MONTHS in advance! If you’re staying off property you’ll need to log onto your Disney account or call for each day of your trip! If staying on property, you can book 180+10 so as long as your trip is 10 days or less you can book dining for your whole trip in one go. This is HUGE because dining is *extremely* competitive. Some restaurants, such as Be Our Guest, are so competitive that even if you book at your 180+10 you may not get it. I can get more into the dining and dining plans later, but for now just know that if you want to eat at Cinderella’s Royal Table, Hollywood & Vine, Be Our Guest, etc, you will want to book on or before 6 months out.

3. Make A MyDisneyExperience Account

The MyDisneyExperience site and app are so awesome! You will use this to make dining reservations, view your itinerary, make payments, favorite rides, check wait times, finding characters and again a ton more…it’s so fantastic! The site has tons of information and online help that help you get an idea for your trip. It’s the perfect baby step ; )

4. Research Research Research!

I LOVE researching everything so I love this part and I’m constantly researching everything, but I love researching Disney! I know not everyone loves it, but it’s a game-changer when it comes to planning your perfect magical vacation. I suggest searching things like “Disney Planning Tips” on YouTube or Google to get started. If people are interested, I can go into more details on my planning process.

5. Get Excited!

Ummmm you’re going to be going to Disney?! How exciting is that?! Everybody has a great time at Disney World!

Thank you SO much for reading! Please tell me what blog posts and/or videos you’d like to see about Disney, because I would LOVE to talk about anything Disney ; )
