POPSUGAR MUST HAVE BOX | DECEMBER 2015 | LAST POP SUGAR EVER?!

December 16, 2015 & 2 Comments

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

I just opened what just might be my last PopSugar Must Have Box ever! I have decided after three full years as a subscriber to take a break so that I am able to try other things (which of course I’ll also share with you). I absolutely adore PopSugar, so it’s sad but I know I’ll survive ; ) The PopSugar Must Have Box is a monthly lifestyle subscription box that has food, fashion, beauty, home decor, and exercise goodies for $39 per box.

Luv Aj The Rose Gold Ombré Bracelet

$65

I love that this has silver, rose gold, and gold together! Mixing metals is so fun, but I’ve never done three at once before.

Stowaway Cosmetics Créme Lipstick Trio

$30

These colors are gorgeous! I can’t wait to try them!

Nima Oberoi Lunares Geo Stopper

$24

How gorgeous is this?! I love that it can be used over and over without breaking or tarnishing.

Swing Design Nova Blue Mist Jewelry Box

$36

This is pretty, I love the color, and it’s practical, but I’m not super excited about this. However, even though I’m not jumping for joy, I bet this will get a lot of use!

My Cup of Cake Classic Belgian Chocolate

$5,99

I have yet to have a really delicious mug dessert, so I am excited to try this! *Maybe* I’ll split it with Stephan, or else enjoy it when he isn’t here ; )

Meri Meri Silver Stars on White Glitter Tape

$4

I love washi tape, so this was a fun surprise! I think this will be the perfect finishing touch for pretty Christmas presents!

Special Extra:

Tiny Prints Gift Tag Stickers + $20 Promo Card

I will use the gift tags, and it’s nice they offer the promo.

Overall I was really happy with this box!! I think that each thing is beautiful, and would make an amazing gift if you didn’t want to keep it for yourself! Have a beautiful weekend! Can you believe it’s nearly Christmas?!

VTECH FLIPSIE DOLL REVIEW & GIVEAWAY!!

December 2, 2015 & 3 Comments

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

VTech contacted me again to see if I would be interested in getting a Flipsie Doll for consideration and review. I jumped at the chance because Hailey loves the other Flipsie Dolls she has. A few months ago I reviewed the VTech Sit-to-Stand Ultimate Alphabet Train and I’m happy to report that it is still Connor’s favorite toy.

*Note: I know some may be concerned about the recent VTech hack. My kiddos love so many VTech toys that were not part of this. VTech responded to FAQ here.

*Note: Any links shared are NOT affiliate links which means no, I don’t get paid if you purchase : )

FLIPSIE DOLL LINE OVERVIEW:

-Interchangeable toys that encourage girls to dream big and use their imagination!

-Each doll changes from her everyday look into her dream look

-Flipsies use MagicPoint technology, so they can interact with their playsets, and they even talk to each other!

-The product collection has 18 different offerings, and they range in price from $9.99-$39.99

VTECH CARINA MINI GOLF & CHECK-UP TABLE PLAYSET:

vtechflipsiedoll-reviewandgiveaway-leahtackles.jpeg Screen shot 2015-12-02 at 3.28.39 PM

-This set transforms from a mini golf course to a doctor’s check-up table

-Carina works on all other Flipsie Doll playsets & responds when placed on any Magic Point on the other Flipsie playset with phrases that match her personality

-Carina comes with 10 fun doll acessories including wigs, clothes, glasses, and more

-Carina uses 3 LR44 batteries (doll comes with demo batteries that aren’t mean for regular use)

-Doll is intended for girls ages 4-9

HAILEY ANSWERING QUESTIONS ABOUT HER FLIPSIE DOLLS AND IMAGINATIVE PLAY:

PROS:

-Encourage imaginative play

-It’s like getting multiple toys in one

-Priced reasonably

-Very easy to put together

-My 4 year old will play with these for hours! She loves using her other small dolls with them, too.

CONS:

-Tiny pieces to look after (*Tip: I immediately bought a plastic shoe box sized bin to store this in!)

-A little paint from the doll came off in the package, but we did open it after it was sitting outside overnight by accident

FINAL THOUGHTS:

We absolutely LOVE the Flipsie Doll line by VTech! Hailey picked one of these out to give her friend for a birthday gift, and I happily spent my own money buying it. I think that these are much cuter in person than I imagined when I first saw a picture! I am so impressed with these dolls. I love the aspirational message it sends to young girls, and I think it’s SO cool that the dolls can work on any of the Flipsie Doll sets. I think these would make a fantastic Christmas gift for any young girl on your list.

Blanket Scarves & Coffee

November 30, 2015 & 2 Comments

Hi there! Happy Monday!

I started thinking about coming up with the usual big list of monthly favorites to share with you, but I realized pretty quickly that I have two standout favorites for November: my blanket scarf & going to Starbucks.

I * just * got this scarf from Target, but I am already completely in love! They have so many cute ones, some gorgeous plaids and one that is Michigan State colors that I of course adore. Check now for Cyber Monday deals. I need to teach my mom about the CartWheel App, too ; )

I am pretty sure I’m the last person I know under 40 to get this, but I FINALLY got a Starbucks account. I love coffee, and throw in the adorable Christmas goodies, pretty mugs, and rewards stars? I am in. I’ve been enjoying getting myself lattes all month and it’s a small splurge to some but it has been huge for me! That little red cup makes me so happy : )  If you don’t have a Starbucks account, I definitely suggest downloading the app! It’s so easy to add money with a card or via PayPal, and you just let the barista scan your phone to pay. You get discounts, and various promotions as you collect stars (stars=points).

What have you been loving this month? What is your go-to Starbucks order? I love comments ; )

GLITTERY CHRISTMAS STOCKING HOLDER DIY

November 19, 2015 & 4 Comments

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

I am in full on Christmas mode, and yes I will pause for Thankgiving next week, but I know that I need to get going on Christmas now because otherwise when we get back from Disney it will be 10 days of stress! And I absolutely love the holiday season, so I want to spread it out and savor it, and prepping ahead means I can do that and limit the stress. Last year I shared a DIY Holiday Wreath Tutorial and I was happy to get that out again this year.  We do not have a fireplace, so no mantel to hang the stockings, and every year Santa has just found them laying out on our loveseat, which is fine but not very special. I had seen some adorable stocking hangers on Etsy, but decided that I would make my own. I was able to do this DIY for only a few dollars, and it didn’t take too much time either. If you’d like to see part of the process you can on my Daily Vlogs day 107-110. What I love about this is you can completely make it your own depending on your personal style or home decor. I hope you enjoy it!

ChristmasStockingHangerDIY-LeahTackles.jpeg

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

christmasstockinghangerdiy-leahtackles.jpeg

-1 Piece of wood to be the back of your stocking hanger (*Tip: I bought all of my wood in small pieces at Lowe’s!)

– 1 piece of wood for each stocking you want to hang (I used 5 because our family has 5 people)

-Screws

-Heavy Duty D Rings

-Various Spray Paints or Acrylic Paints (I used white spray paint, silver spray paint, gold glitter spray paint)

-Decou-Page or Mod Podge

-Mod Podge Glossy Acrylic Spray Sealer

-Gold glitter

-Gold Hooks (I found mine at Lowe’s and bought one for each stocking)

STEP 1:

Using screws attach the pieces of wood to the piece of wood that will be your backing. I wanted mine at various heights, so mess around with it until you’re happy with the look.

STEP 2:

Attach your D hooks to the back of the stocking hanger

IMG_1648 diy-stocking-hanger-leahtackleschristmas-leahtackles.jpeg

STEP 3:

Spray paint the entire front and sides of your stocking hanger white and let dry.

christmasstockinghanger-nofireplace-leahtackles.jpeg

STEP 4:

Spray your silver paint focusing on the bottom of your stocking hanger and releasing as you go up to create a gradient or ombrélook. I promise this is much easier than it sounds! You can do a few practice strokes if you want, but it doesn’t need to look perfect.

diy-christmas-stocking-hanger-leahtackles.jpeg

STEP 5:

Spray the very bottom of your stocking hanger with gold glitter spray paint. I did several layers because I wanted it to be opaque. Once again let it dry.

silverandgold-christmasstockinghanger-leahtackles.jpeg

STEP 6:

Mix some Mod-Podge or Decou-Page with your gold glitter. I went heavy on the gold glitter, because I wanted it to be super sparkly, but be sure to add enough glue so that it spreads and sticks. I applied the glitter glue to only the very bottom of the stocking hanger.

sparkly-christmasstockinghanger-diy-leahtackles.jpeg

STEP 7:

Spray with a glossy spray to seal the glitter and paint. I used one from Mod-Podge.

STEP 8:

Attach the hooks to the bottom of your stocking hanger once it is COMPLETELY dry! My sweet hubster did this which was a nice surprise : ) Make sure that you put the hooks as far apart as possible intead of in the middle of each board, it may not look perfect because it won’t look perfectly even, but once the stockings are hanging it will look better because they won’t be quite so close together.

STEP 9:

Hang your stockings and wait for Santa : ) : )

IMG_1644 ChristmasStockingHangerDIY-LeahTackles.jpeg

I really hope that you enjoyed this DIY project! I think you could do something similar to hang your house keys and that would be adorable year-round! Please send me pictures or tag me on social media (all linked at the top of this website or at the bottom of every blog post!) because I would *LOVE* to see them! Don’t forget to subscribe! Thank you!! xo

MY PERFECT WINTER BOOT (Four Years in the Making!)

November 4, 2015 & 2 Comments

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

The last time I remember having real, proper, wear them while building a snow fort snow boots was when I was in high school! I remember having a pink pair of Columbia boots that I wore the last time I really and truly rolled around in the snow, made snow angels, and buried my then 10 year old brother (he’s 21 now…yikes!) in a pile of snow. I kept those same boots in the trunk of my car for years, but somewhere in the shuffle of moving in and out of the dorms, apartments, sorority house, and more apartments in college, they went missing. Since then I have had older Ugg boots that I’ve worn to play with the kids, but every year I’ve waited too long to order boots and they sell out. Finally, this year, I got smart and ordered the Sorel boots I’ve been lusting after for several seasons. So this year I’ll be fully prepared to make snowmen (100 snowmen, according to my 4 year old), snow angels, and snow forts with my little ones.

And with that little story, here are my PERFECT winter boots!

sorel-myperfectwinterboots-leahtackles.jpeg

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend!! Please make my day and subscribe : )
