HOW-TO PREVENT BLISTERS IN HEELS

I love wearing a gorgeous pair of heels, but I have definitely been that girl hobbling by the end of the night because my feet her so much because of blisters. I also never found the band-aid “fix” to do much of anything to help, so I have tested out a lot of products and wanted to share my go-to with you.

 

 

Band-Aid Friction Block Stick

This provides lubrication which when applied to blister “hot spots” can reduce the friction, a.k.a stop the blisters from forming. If you don’t have the Band-Aid Friction Block Stick you can also use anti-chaffing products like BodyGlide or even a stick antiperspirant. This stuff lasts forever, I’ve had one stick for well over a year and it has a lot left to use.  I love the Band-Aid Friction Block Stick because it is so tiny (it fits in the palm of my hand!) and I can always have it in my bag for heel-mergencies.

My Routine

I always do my best to buy shoes that fit, seriously don’t try to squeeze into shoes that don’t fit because you’ll regret it an hour into wearing them. I also try to break in my heels for a bit at home before wearing them out. I apply the Band-Aid Friction Block Stick to dry feet a few minutes before slipping on my heels (or any shoes I feel that are prone to rubbing).

L’OREAL EXTRAODINARY CLAY DRY SHAMPOO REVIEW

I am a dry shampoo addict, and I recently tried the L’Oreal Extraordinary Clay Dry Shampoo and wanted to share my thoughts with you.

 

 

WHAT IT CLAIMS

This dry shampoo claims, like all dry shampoos, to extend the freshness between actual hair washing/shampoos. This dry shampoo contains 3 refined clays that are supposed to instantly refresh your hair, absorb oil, and have no visual residue.

MY THOUGHTS

This dry shampoo definitely helped my hair feel instantly refreshed. I also didn’t notice any visual residue, but as a blonde it can be a little harder for me to gauge that. I also think this is the best smelling dry shampoo EVER! It smells so clean, and actually smells like shampoo, and it wasn’t overpowering. I didn’t notice anything that drastically different about this dry shampoo to rank it higher or lower than my favorite dry shampoo standby (shop my holy grail dry shampoo here), but I really am enjoying this and will definitely purchase it again in the future.

BEACHY WAVES FOR FINE HAIR | FEATURING EVA NYC

I hope that you are having a fantastic start to your week! I just got home from a vacation with my family and we had a blast! Both while on our trip and in the midst of unpacking and getting back into the swing of things, I have been relying on low maintenance hairstyles to save myself time. BEACHY HAIR WITH VOLUME AND TEXTURE IN 1 MINUTE

 

 

EVA NYC SURF’S UP! TEXTURE SPRAY

 

WHAT IS IT?

This texture spray helps create volume and texture for beachy waves for that sexy, undone look that we all love. Eva NYC Surf’s Up Texture Spray adds a light matte finish to any hair type and is infused with zeolite for added texture and volume. It also helps with holding hair in place with a unique copolymer blend.

WHY I LOVE IT

I have naturally straight hair that doesn’t have much volume because although I have a lot of it, is is very fine, and this spray helps me get volume and texture. I love that this doesn’t feel sticky or weird, because I like my hair to feel clean and can’t stand it being crunchy. I can add volume to my hair when I curl it, but some days I want a quick style that is lower maintenance and this Eva NYC spray helps me achieve that look.

MY ROUTINE

I use this on dry hair. I comb out my hair and then add this focusing at the root and upper sections of my hair and then lightly tousle and scrunch with my fingers. I also will finger comb or even regular comb it out if I want a smoother look but still get the added volume at the root by using this Eva NYC Surf’s Up! spray.

FREEMAN EASY-TO-PEEL MASK REVIEW

Hi there! Happy Wednesday!

As you’re reading this I am away on a vacation with my family and very likely doing a face mask with my mom and playing Yahtzee ; )

I have written before about my favorite face masks (read that post here) but recently have been using Freeman Easy-To-Peel Masks and had to share them with you!

 

 

WHY I LOVE THEM

These masks are super affordable and can be purchased in one-time-use packages, or in a bottle to be used until in runs out. I have been using them so much that I plan to buy a multi-pack on Amazon Prime.  My skin feels soft, clean, and fresh after using a mask.

MY ROUTINE

I use these masks a couple of times a week. I apply these with my fingers, or if I feel like I want a little less mess I will wear a terry headband towel (like this) and apply the mask with an inexpensive foundation brush (like this).

This week we are heading to my family lake cottage and I CAN’T WAIT to get away! Last week I shared a Travel Makeup Bag from Henri Bendel that I use for any trip. TRAVEL MAKEUP BAG | EXPANDABLE, DURABLE, AND CLASSIC

In Monday’s post I spoke about what I *actually* have in my makeup bag in my purse, and it got me thinking about my favorite makeup bags for travel. I have two makeup bags that I use regularly for travel, and today I will be sharing the one that I take no matter how long of a trip I’m going on.

This Henri Bendel Canvas Cosmetics Bag is definitely a bit of a splurge in the world of makeup bags, it has a higher price point than ones you would find at a drugstore or Target, but it also still looks stunning & works perfectly after years of regular use. I love how this bag can store flat, but expands to be deeper, and wider than other makeup bags. Also, can we appreciate the beauty of this bag? Henri Bendel can do no wrong!

I talk a lot about makeup products that I love, but I thought it would be fun to share what is actually in my makeup bag that I carry in my diaper bag. I will mentioned that this can vary depending on when I take the time to throw in something specific for an all-day trip, or when I remember to empty out the excess lip products, but this is what is in it as of today ; )

HOW-TO COVER ZITS and DARK CIRCLES | CONCEALER THAT STAYS ALL DAY

In the heat of the summer I often find that I don’t want to wear a liquid foundation, but some days I still want to cover blemishes, imperfections, and other dark circles with concealer but then skip foundation and just set my concealer with a powder. One of my rediscovered favorites this summer has been the HardCandy Glamoflauge concealer.

Packaging

This concealer comes in a squeeze tube, which I love because it is easy to get every last bit out and is also hygienic. It also comes with a shade matched pencil, which can be used to outline a tattoo (*Note: though I haven’t tried covering a tattoo with this, I have seem impressive pictures online) or zit before using the creamy concealer.

Shade Range and Cost

This concealer boasts an impressive 15 color shade range and costs about $6 at Walmart stores, but can also be purchased on amazon for about $12.

Why I love It

A little goes a VERY long way! This works well to cover my dark circles as well as any blemishes or redness.

My Routine

I always squeeze the tube before opening it to mis the concealer a bit before each use because the concealer can come out a bit oily and watery if you skip doing this. I use my fingers to dot a bit onto areas I want to conceal and then use a cheap makeup sponge or a damp beauty sponge (like the Micro Mini Beauty Blender) to blend it into the skin. Be careful, you only need a *tiny* bit! If you do apply too much, you can use a stippling brush like this one to blend it into the skin if it is too much for your sponge to handle.

WHAT IS ROOT SHADING? FALL READY HAIR COLOR

I hope that you had a wonderful weekend spent in the sun with those you love!

I got my hair color touched up at the end of last week, and decided to change up my color a bit for fall. I love the ombré look, and chatted to my stylist who suggested taking my roots a shade darker, a.k.a doing a little root shading. Root Shading vs. Ombre

Ombre and Root Shading are definitely similar. Root shading is the technique of adding darker color to the root area of the hair.

Ombre is a technique where highlights are put underneath in the ends the ends of the hair.

Why I Love Root Shading

I love that this will help soften the stark contrast as my roots grow in, and I love having super blonde ends but a bit darker, ashy blonde on the top.

Regrets?

I am a bit nervous for the next time I get it touched up because it will bring the darker color down further, but so far I am having no real regrets and am loving the look!
