Winter Boots From Walmart?! | Time and Tru Winter Boots Review

You will not believe the Time and Tru winter boots I found at Walmart! Last year I finally purchased a nice pair of Sorel Explorer Carnival II Boots and I wore them every day from November until May (that’s Northern MI for ya). When we packed up our home and made a large move this summer, a lot of things ended up in our storage unit and it’s packed so tight that nothing is coming out until we buy a home because it’s a literal hazard to try to get it out. I knew I needed something for this winter, but didn’t feel comfortable spending a lot since I know that I have a beautiful pair in storage. I was grabbing a few items for grocery pick-up last weekend and found these Time and Tru winter boots and I have to share them with you.

How cute are these?! Less than $40 and they are so darn cute in person. I haven’t tested them in the cold temps yet, and while I don’t expect them to be as warm as my Sorel boots, the fact that they’re rated for -5° is promising and the memory foam is super comfortable.

I have shared my outfits from Nadine West for three years now on my blog (read the posts here). Nadine West sent me this box for my consideration for review but I was not paid to write this post and as always all opinions are my own. I have many favorites, including the best beach sunglasses I’ve ever owned, that I wear regularly.

NadineWest.com is a company that sends you an outfit to try on and you keep only what you love. The outfit is a surprise, but you take a style quiz and the stylists get to know your style more each month. The outfits are affordable with pieces costing about $10-$30 each, which is very affordable compared to other similar services.

How Does Nadine West Work?

On the Nadine West website, you take the style quiz so that the stylist can get to know what you are looking for in an outfit. You will receive a pink package in the mail with your personalized outfit. Try on the outfit and keep what you love and send back what you don’t.

My Thoughts On Nadine West

The style quiz was super easy to do, which was great because I wanted something that didn’t take too much time but I was still able to make notes to make sure the stylist knew my preferences. I really loved the surprise aspect of this, and it was like opening up a girly gift from a really stylish friend. I cannot stand having to return things, it is such a bummer, but I LOVE the way this company does it because your outfit comes with return shipping.

SPRINTS Running/Sports Hat Review + Customer Service Story

I bought myself a Sprints running hat recently to get myself excited about running again. I’ve kept my running up with our move, not the same mileage or endurance, but I’m still running 3-4 days each week, and I’m proud of that.

I went to Playmakers in Okemos (a can’t-miss store if you’re ever in the Lansing area) and picked out this Sprints hat because it’s my favorite color, Michigan State colors, AND I like that it’s turtles because I always say that I’m not fast but I keep going.

Why I Love It (Pros AND Cons)

It’s comfortable. It’s lightweight. It drys so fast. It washes up beautifully ( I hang it to dry). I don’t like that the velcro adjustable isn’t looped through, because it’s harder to adjust if needed mid-run but I believe this is in effort to make it as light as possible. I like it so well that I bought another one, the Sprints Rabbit Running Hat. I love that I have a tortoises and hare, plus we have Sunny the Bunny, our beloved Holland Lop, so it works : )

Add Texture To Outfits | Easy Style Tip

I talk a lot about simple ways to elevate your outfits, and one of my favorite ways to do this is by adding texture. Today I want to share a few simple ways to add texture to your outfits with things you already have in your wardrobe.

How-To Add Texture To Outfits

Layer! Toss on a jacket, blazer, or cardigan. One of my go-to looks is jeans, a simple top, and tossing an oversized blazer over the top.
Sheer fabrics drape beautifully and are a great way to add texture to an outfit. A sheer top like this is beautifully dressed up for work or more casually.
Satin or Silk add interest and dimension to an outfit. I love a satin top or a scarf tied around your neck or to a bag.
Fuzzy, cozy, furry. Adding a faux fur piece, or a sherling detail on boots or a jacket.

How-To Look Pulled Together as a Mom

As a mom, you have to go from soccer camp to a meeting to (if you’re lucky) girls’ night and back home to make dinner and it can be hard to look pulled together since all of these things require a different wardrobe. Today I want to share my best tips for looking like I have it together as a mom, even when I don’t.

Create a Capsule Wardrobe

I started dressing in neutrals several years ago, and have been working overtime to be more conscious about what I’m buying. I began by grabbing things from Target and H&M, places I still love especially for basics, and now try to buy investment pieces as sustainably as possible. Having a capsule wardrobe means almost everything I have matches.

Plan Your Outfit the Night Before

I know, you’ve heard this before but it’s a GAMECHANGER! Each evening I think about what I’ll be doing the next day, what the weather is, and set out all of the clothes the night before. And I mean everything, including undergarments and socks. If I’m running I set out my running gear, and whatever outfit I’ll wear. If I need to change midday, I’ll grab those items too.

Add a “Third Piece”

A shirt and jeans are clothes, but toss on a hat or a great blazer and you’ve got an outfit.

I have an office. This is huge. And I have to decorate it. I started with an arched mirror. I LOVE the anthropology mirror [me and apparently, everyone else, maybe I’ll get over it before we buy our next home] but for my office at our Gumseat Productions shop, I knew it was time for a mirror. Let me explain.

I create social media content for a living, and I’m taking a larger role in our screen printing and embroidery business, so having a large mirror that I can use to film reels for social media tips, fashion styling, and business content. I didn’t want to spend a lot but wanted something that looked nice and would function well. I read alllllllll the reviews on affordable arched mirrors and I am so happy with what I ended up with.
