It’s back-to-school week here and that means getting into a new routine. Often in a busy season, it is easy to wake up and just want to be cozy because you’re so overwhelmed, or feel like NOTHING looks good. Today I want to share a tip I know you’ve probably heard: Pick your clothes out the night before. But I will take it a step further.

Feel More Confident and Fashionable This Fall

Each evening I ask Alexa what the weather will be the next day, and then I think about what activities I/our family has. Do I have an important meeting? Do I need to run the kids around outside? Appointment? Etc. Then I pick my clothes, steam or de-wrinkle things, and put it all out in my closet. I also grab socks, bra, undies, and a workout outfit if I’ll be running or working out.

Camp Collage | Camp Trunk Decor

Our daughter, Hailey, attended her first sleepaway camp a few weeks ago and we wanted to do everything we could to make it memorable. In a newsletter from the camp, there was information about Camp Collage and as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted us to get one for Hailey.

Camp Collage

Camp Collage was founded by the Willoughby family after Darla, the mother, had made her three children collages for years. It is a family business founded in 2021 and I can tell already, they’re just getting started.

Camp Collage is an App that allows you to upload pictures straight from your phone into a collage that is then printed and ready for you to attach to the inside of your camper’s trunk, on the wall, or to the bunk. You can have the photos auto-populate or arrange them yourself, or do what I did which is autofill and then edit as wanted/needed. You can pick 15,25, or 35 images. I love that this is an affordable way to have a perfectly sized and nicely printed collage without having to deal with the hassle of making it yourself. Hailey LOVED having pictures of friends and family up while away at her first camp. She told us that her friends and counselor asked her about her college, and it helped with homesickness. As soon as we got home, she hung it in her room, and I love that it has the year because she can hang get one each year as a special tradition.

The Best White Sneaker | Elevated White Sneaker

I kept running into situations where I needed an elevated white sneakers. I recently purchased the Frye Low-Lace White Leather Sneaker as my Mother’ Day Gift and I have reached for them so many times already.

Pictures do not do these shoes justice. The leather is pebbled, gorgeous, and incredibly soft. The inside of the shoe is nicely cushioned and I love that it’s a brown color so that it doesn’t get dirty from bare feet or sunless tanner. I have tied the laces and tucked them under the insert so that I can easily slip them on and off. These look great with shorts or a dress, and I love that they’re not clunky and are a bit more elevated.

My No Buy/Low Buy Update

Hi there! Happy Monday!

We are halfway through 2023 already, and it’s time for me to update on my no buy/low buy for 2023.

I have so far followed all of my rules, but I have definitely pushed it a little bit. For example, I asked my mom for clothing and shoes for my birthday, and I had a few gift cards, and when I used those I would pay the difference and allow that. For example, I had a $50 gift card but spent $70. I also bought myself a Mother’s Day Gift that I picked which is what I told my husband I wanted.

Shopping Triggers

Shopping definitely gives a little happy boost, and fashion is my weakness. I notice that I want to shop when I’m really stressed, or sad, and sometimes just when I see a great piece that I think will be impactful in my closest.

What I’ve Learned

While I haven’t been perfect, the no buy / low buy has stopped me from buying things right away and made me pause. And a lot of times the “must have it” feeling will fade. Having to be creative with gifts and gift cards has also ensured I really research what I want. It helps me to save a web browser and I can always go back to the item later. It also helps me to organize what I do have, for example organizing my shorts or all of my hats. I also like putting together outfits from my closet instead of seeing a new item and putting an outfit together in my head with the new item.

Powder Sunscreen | Summer Beauty Must Have

Have you tried powder sunscreen? I wear SPF on my face, neck, décolletage, and hands 365 days a year, and in the summer I add SPF slathered all over my body. This is my favorite body sunscreen and this is my favorite face sunscreen. I keep a very simple handbag (belt bag…) and unless it’s a special occasion, I keep a lip gloss and a face powder. But what I have been loving over a compact and powder is a powder sunscreen.

Hawaiian Tropic Mineral Skin Nourishing Sunscreen Powder Brush – SPF 30

I love this SPF powder makeup to toss in my bag. I am going to get another one to send with my oldest to school and then to camps. It shouldn’t be used as your primary or only sunscreen, but when you need to touch up this helps blot the oil AND gives you a little more protection. Plus, it isn’t messy. It’s a win, win, win.
